Three southern planetary nebulae (NGC 2818, He 2-130, and NGC 3132) have been observed with the IDS (Image Dessector Scanner) combined with the Boller and Chivens spectrograph mounted at the Cassegrain focus of the 1.52 m telescope of the ESO in Chile. The spectrograph dispersion was 60 Å mm–1 in the spectral range 6170–7298 Å. The slit aperture was 4×4. Spectra were obtained from an array of positions across each nebula along the E-W direction and/or N-S direction. The data reduction followed the standard IHAP routines for IDS observations. In order to derive electron density, only the [Sii] lines (6617 Å–6731 Å) are given in this paper. The results are in agreement with a shell structure for the observed nebulae.

This paper shows that for the free symmetric top a formulation of the equations of motion is possible, which is Liapunov stable. The formalism applied is equivalent to the conservative stabilization of the Keplerian problem. The perturbed problem appears in -stable form. The micrometeoroid population within 10 Earth radii (60,000 km) has been observed by the HEOS 2 dust experiment between 7 February 1972 and 2 August 1974.A total of 431 particles has been observed. Of those 90 particles are classified as random, the rest as particle bursts. The random particles only show a slight increase (factor 3) in flux within 10 Earth radii, compared to the deep space flux at 1 AU and this is interpreted as being due to the gravitational field of the Earth.The bursts are divided into groups and swarms according to their time profiles. The 19 recorded groups are observed both within 10 Earth radii and above, again with a slight increase below 60,000 km. The 15 recorded swarms are exclusively observed within 10 Earth radii. The total micrometeoroid flux in this region is enhanced by 2–3 orders of magnitude. The interpretation is that larger bodies in the 10–106g mass range of the type III fireballs are disintegrating while travelling through the Earth's auroral zones. The fragmentation process proposed is that of electrostatic disruption. This leads to one (or several) swarm(s) of small individual particles, which originally made up the flurry type (cometary) parent body. 相似文献

The study of rotation curves is the most powerful tool for determining mass distributions inside spiral galaxies. Since the first trial by Burbidgeet al. (1959), followed by Brandt (1960), few methods have been proposed for the determination of the masses of galaxies (Faber and Gallagher, 1979). Monnet and Simien (1977) recently proposed a method based on a two component model (bulge and disk) which permits to compute the total mass providing that the photometry is well-known. We suggest here a method based on a new simple parametrization of the optical rotation curve. This method indicates disk masses substantially higher than the provious estimates and suggests an exponential increase of theM/L ratio in the disk toward the outer parts of the Galaxies. 相似文献

Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) was applied in a sand-infilled paleo-channel located in the Rhône Delta, in Southern France. The detailed pattern and sedimentological evolution of the channel fill deposits – know from both historical and geological sources – made it the ideal site to test the ERT method. A geoelectrical survey was performed, using the ABEM SAS-4000 multi-electrode array system in March 2003. Very low electrical resistivity values were obtained, ranging from 0.3 to 10 Ohm m, consistent with the high salinity measured in situ (the pore water conductivity was found to range from 0.9 to 1.2 S/m at 25 °C). The electrical resistivity profiles reflect mainly salinity variations. Indeed, in this case, salinity is so high that surface conductivity associated with clay minerals can be safely neglected. ERT provided valuable high-resolution information that complemented other exiting data such as historical information, bathymetric, geological, and lithostratigraphic data, which allowed the architecture of the channel to be defined. The ERT was used to determine the infilling dynamics of the Pégoulier Channel, which opens new perspectives in terms of paleoenvironmental reconstruction and paleodynamic studies. 相似文献

The South Pandora and the Tripartite Ridges are active spreading centers located in the northern part of the North Fiji Basin. These spreading centers were surveyed over a distance of 750 km during the NOFI cruise of R/V L'Atalante (August–September 1994) which was conducted in the frame of the french-japanese Newstarmer cooperation project. SIMRAD EM12-dual full coverage swath bathymetric and imagery data as well as airgun 6-channel seismic, magnetics and gravity profiles were recorded along and offaxis from 170°40 E to 178° E. Dredging and piston coring were also performed along and off-axis. The axial domain of the South Pandora Ridge is divided into 5 first-order segments characterized by contrasted morphologies. The average width of the active domain is 20 km and corresponds either to bathymetric highs or to deep elongated grabens. The bathymetric highs are volcanic constructions, locally faulted and rifted, which can obstruct totally the axial valley. The grabens show the typical morphology of slow spreading axes, with two steep walls flanking a deep axial valley. Elongated lateral ridges may be present on both sides of the grabens. Numerous volcanoes, up to several kilometers in diameter, occur on both flanks of the South Pandora Ridge. The Tripartite Ridge consists of three main segments showing a sigmoid shape. Major changes in the direction of the active zones are observed at the segment discontinuities. These discontinuities show various geometrical patterns which suggest complex transform relay zones. Preliminary analysis of seismic reflection profiles suggest that the Tripartite Ridge is a very young feature which propagates into an older oceanic domain characterized by a significant sedimentary cover. By contrast, a very thin to absent sedimentary cover is observed about 100 km on both flanks of the South Pandora Ridge active axis. The magnetic anomaly profiles give evidence of long and continuous lineations, parallel to the South Pandora Ridge spreading axis. According to our preliminary interpretation, the spreading rate would have been very low (8 km/m.y. half rate) during the last 7 Ma. The South Pandora and Tripartite Ridges exhibit characteristics typical of active oceanic ridges: (1) a segmented pattern, with segments ranging from 80 to 100 km in length; (2) an axial tectonic and volcanic zone, 10 to 20 km wide; (3) well-organized magnetic lineations, parallel to the active axis; (4) clear signature on the free-air gravity anomaly map.
