地震监测系统有集中式记录系统,也有分散式记录系统,它们各有优缺点。警报系统必须把数据遥测发往记录中心。然而,对一些应用来说,将两种方式的优点加以结合将是最佳的选择。一次大地震发生后,地震的位置和震级对应急权威机构和大型建筑如大坝或电站的拥有者来说用处有限。他们更关心的是地震可能造成的影响,以及应该做什么。这些有用的信息应尽快提供出来,最好在地震后几分钟内。由地震学家提供的灾害信息(地震的位置、震级和衰减)与由权威机构提供的易损性信息(财产的位置、易损性和重要性、任务和优先级)相结合来确定以强度估计地震的影响和以优先顺序排列的任务表。此系统还可以用于对用户进行有关地震可能影响方面的培训。

遗迹化石在成因地层学中的意义--以加拿大阿尔伯塔省白垩系为例

遗迹化石代表沉积学和古生物学两方面的内容,是地层记录中潜在的环境指 示者．遗迹化石及其组合可有效地确定地层中各种不连续类型并解释其成因．在地层 意义解释方面,遗迹学的应用主要有：（１）利用受基底控制的遗迹相确定不连续面;（２） 通过仔细分析垂向软基底（准同生）遗迹化石序列获取环境变化的证据（与相序列可类比）． 在成因地层研究中,把受基底控制的遗迹相资料和遗迹化石序列的生态资料结合起来, 可极大地增强对多种地层界面辨认和解释的能力．当这一过程与常规的相分析和层序 地层研究结合起来时,将会成为一个强有力的解释地质记录的工具。
