Three approaches for estimating the hydraulic conductivity (K) of the Trifa aquifer, Morocco were investigated: (1) kriging of the K values obtained from pumping tests, (2) cokriging of the pumping test data with electrical resistivity data as a secondary variable, and (3) cokriging of the pumping test data with the slope of the water table. Gauss-transformed values of the variables are used because they provide more robust variograms and transformed values of the primary and secondary variables show correlations higher than the raw values, which is beneficial in cokriging. In cokriging with electrical resistivity, two zones are considered since the geological deposits are different from the north to the south of the aquifer, which is reflected in different correlations between the variables. Comparison of the three approaches is based mainly on the estimation errors, and to a lesser degree on the cross-validations of the corresponding variogram models and general considerations, like the measurements’ reliability and aquifer make-up. The best-estimated K is given by cokriging with the slope of the water table and is therefore preferred for further use in groundwater flow modeling. Thus, electrical resistivity or the slope of the water table can both be used as secondary variables to estimate K, especially in heterogeneous aquifers with lateral variations in lithology, as is the case of the Trifa aquifer. 相似文献

In Volubilis, Roman mosaics are very beautiful and reveal, from the bottom to the surface, three layers: (i) ‘hedgehog’ layer, (ii) coarse grain mortar layer (rudus + nucleus) and (iii) tesselatum. Mineralogical analysis of coarse grain mortar sampled in Flavius Germanus mosaic shows that it consisted of quartz and calcite, with some feldspar and probably mica and dolomite. Fine-grained mortar in tesselatum is made from a mixture of calcite and quartz only. Limestone tesserae (white, pink and brown) show petrographic facies that change from micritic to oolithic limestone. Conversely, black and brick red tesserae are respectively made of marble, red sandstone and from fire clay. Utilization of satellite images and field observations of dike swarms in pre-Fatima basement show that these dikes are older than the overlaying Fatima Formation. Dikes digitization and orientation analysis on satellite images show that the prevailing trend of the dikes is ENE-WSW. The granitic rocks of pre-Fatima basement and its hosted dikes expose evidences of completely a different deformation regime from the overlaying Fatima Formation. These evidences include shearing, dextral shear indicators, isoclinal folds, deflection and rotation of crystals, mineral elongation, and mylonitic and gneissose textures. Strain analysis results of using Fry method on quartz and feldspar grains support the presence of deformation in these ENE-WSW dikes. These results gave a strain ratio of 2.1:1.3:1, which suggest an amount of 40% stretching in the ENE-WSW direction parallel to the dike walls, and an amount of 30% shortening in the NNW-SSE direction. Mesoscopic and microscopic scale structures confirm the existence of dextral ductile-brittle shearing followed the emplacement of the dikes and before the pure shear deformation that caused the thrusting and folding of Fatima Formation. In Sahel-Doukkala, which is characterized by lands of a relatively low relief, global DEMs and DEMs generated from digitizing topographic maps, have been the primary source of several multidisciplinary researches. Although these products present a great value of the conducted research, the level of the given accuracy is not sufficient enough for detailed geospatial analysis. These requirements led us to generate a high-resolution DEM as an alternative of available global DEMs or/and DEMs generated from digitizing topographic maps. In this study, we present a workflow to extract high-resolution DEM at 5 m resolution and derived orthoimages from ALOS-PRISM data over Sahel-Doukkala, through photogrammetric techniques, using a variation of GCPs obtained from topographic maps at scale 1:25,000. The accuracy of the generated products is reported according to NSSDA standards. Using ten GCPs, a PRISM-DEM with 3.88 m vertical accuracy and 11.60 m horizontal accuracy, both at 95% confidence level is obtained. This DEM will serve as base dataset for further detailed geospatial analysis and mapping applications in order to identify the relationship between surface parameters and groundwater, and also to assess and understand all factors influencing the development of karst landscapes and consequently subsurface stability in the investigated area. 相似文献

Modeling and simulation using GPS-X software for a packed bed up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket followed by a biological aerated filter were studied. Both treatment units were packed with a non-woven polyester fabric as a bio-bed. The system was operated at a hydraulic and organic loading rate of 9.65 m3/m2/d and 2.64 kg BOD5/m3/day. Verification of the experimental results and calibration of the model were carried out prior simulation and modeling. Variables under consideration were HLR, OLR, and surface area of the packing material. HLR and OLR are increased incrementally until the break through point has been achieved. The results obtained from modeling indicated that the treatment system has great potential to be used as an ideal and efficient option for high hydraulic and organic loading rates up to 19.29 m3/m2/d and 4.48 kg BOD5/m3/day. The model indicated that increasing the input HLR and OLR loads to the treatment system up to 50 % of the original values achieved removal efficiencies 98 % for TSS, 88 % for BOD5, and 85 % for COD. Moreover, increasing the HLR to four times the original value (38.59 m3/m2/d) reduced the efficiency of the treatment system to 50 % for COD and BOD5. However, the removal rates of TSS, TKN, and TP were not affected. The demand on green and clean energy is increasing all over the world. This urge us to try to reduce the obstacles in this field. One of the main obstacles is the high cost of offshore foundation system of wind turbines. A novel offshore hybrid foundation system is proposed for large offshore wind turbines to try to reduce the construction cost. This new system consists of circular precast concrete plate connected on site (i.e. offshore) to a steel monopole that is smaller than the usual pile size used. Parametric study for different foundations systems including monopiles had been done. The displacements at different locations of the foundation and the rotation at the pile head were analyzed and evaluated using a 3D nonlinear finite element model under field-like loading conditions considering different foundation configurations. This work paves the way for the development of design guidelines for this novel foundation system in offshore wind turbine applications. 相似文献

Precambrian granites of the Sharm El-Sheikh area in south Sinai, Egypt belong to collisional and post-collisional Magmatism (610–580 Ma). The granites are widely distributed in the northern part of the Neoproterozoic Arabian-Nubian Shield. South Sinai includes important components of successive multiple stages of upper crust granitic rocks. The earliest stages include monzogranite and syenogranites while the later stages produced alkali feldspar granites and riebeckite-bearing granites. Numerous felsic, mafic dikes and quartz veins traverse the study granites. Petrographically, the granitic rocks consist mainly of perthite, plagioclase, quartz, biotite and riebeckite. Analysis results portray monzogranites displaying calc-alkaline characteristics and emplaced in island-arc tectonic settings, whereas the syenogranites, alkali-feldspar granites and the riebeckite bearing-granites exhibit an alkaline nature and are enriched in HFSEs similar to granites within an extensional regime. Multi-element variation diagrams and geochemical characteristics reinforce a post-collision tectonic setting. REEs geochemical modeling reveals that the rocks were generated as a result of partial melting and fractionation of lower crust basaltic magma giving rise to A1 and A2 subtype granites. They were subsequently emplaced within an intraplate environment at the end of the Pan-African Orogeny. 相似文献

Petrographic examinations and electron microprobe analyses of Proterozoic granitic rocks, SE Sweden aimed to characterize and unravel the mechanisms and conditions of plagioclase alterations. These alterations include saussuritization, albitization and replacement of plagioclase by K‐feldspar. The hydrothermal alterations, which are inferred to have occurred at ca. 250–400°C, resulted in concomitant formation of Al‐rich titanite, epidote, calcite, pumpellyite, prehnite and iron oxides. Replacement of plagioclase by K‐feldspar occurs in red‐stained zones, which have developed close to thin fractures owing to the precipitation of tiny Fe‐oxide pigment particles within the altered plagioclase, whereas saussuritized plagioclase has less systematic spatial relationships to these fractures. Albitization of plagioclase occurred in rocks that are poor in biotite compared to rocks that suffered extensive saussuritization. The chemical and textural characterization of various types of plagioclase alterations allows elucidation of the granitic hydrothermal systems. Features of feldspar alteration in the granitic rocks are similar to those encountered in feldspathic sandstones and should hence be considered in studies on diagenetic changes of siliciclastic successions during basin evolution.
