We use recent observations of high-redshift galaxies to study the evolution of galactic discs over the redshift range 0 < z ≲1. The data are inconsistent with models in which discs were already assembled at z = 1 and have evolved only in luminosity since that time. Assuming that disc properties change with redshift as powers of 1 + z and analysing the observations assuming an Einstein–de Sitter universe, we find that for given rotation speed, disc scalelength decreases with z as ∼ (1 + z )−1 , total B -band mass-to-light ratio decreases with z as ∼ (1 + z )−1 , and disc luminosity (again in B ) depends only weakly on z . These scalings are consistent with current data on the evolution of disc galaxy abundance as a function of size and luminosity. Both the scalings and the abundance evolution are close to the predictions of hierarchical models for galaxy formation. If different cosmogonies are compared, the observed evolution in disc size and disc abundance favours a flat low-Ω0 universe over an Einstein–de Sitter universe. 相似文献

Extended source size effects have been detected in photometric monitoring of gravitational microlensing events. We study similar effects in the centroid motion of an extended source lensed by a point mass. We show that the centroid motion of a source with uniform surface brightness can be obtained analytically. For a source with a circularly symmetric limb-darkening profile, the centroid motion can be expressed as a one-dimensional integral, which can be evaluated numerically. We find that when the impact parameter is comparable to the source radius, the centroid motion is significantly modified by the finite source size. In particular, when the impact parameter is smaller than the source radius, the trajectories become clover-leaf like. Such astrometric motions can be detected using space interferometers such as the Space Interferometry Mission . Such measurements offer exciting possibilities for determining stellar parameters, such as stellar radius, to excellent accuracy. 相似文献

Venus Express measurements of the vertical profiles of SO and SO2 in the middle atmosphere of Venus provide an opportunity to revisit the sulfur chemistry above the middle cloud tops (~58 km). A one dimensional photochemistry-diffusion model is used to simulate the behavior of the whole chemical system including oxygen-, hydrogen-, chlorine-, sulfur-, and nitrogen-bearing species. A sulfur source is required to explain the SO2 inversion layer above 80 km. The evaporation of the aerosols composed of sulfuric acid (model A) or polysulfur (model B) above 90 km could provide the sulfur source. Measurements of SO3 and SO (a1Δ → X3Σ-) emission at 1.7 μm may be the key to distinguish between the two models. 相似文献

A new solar telescope system is described, which has been operating at Huairou Solar Observing Station (HSOS), National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), since the end of 2005. This instrument, the Solar Magnetism and Activity Telescope (SMAT), comprises two telescopes which respectively make measurements of full solar disk vector magnetic field and Hα observation. The core of the full solar disk video vector magnetograph is a birefringent filter with 0.1 bandpass, installed in the tele-centric optical system of the telescope. We present some preliminary observational results of the full solar disk vector magnetograms and Hα filtergrams obtained with this telescope system. 相似文献

The results of drift bottle and drift card experiments in the Bohai Sea and Huanghai Sea obtained by researchers of the Institute
of Oceanology, Academia Sinica from 1975–1980 are reported in this article. Of over 50,000 bottles and cards released, around
10,000 were recovered.
The results gave some convincing evidences for the existence of the Huanghai Sea Coastal Current, the Huanghai Sea Warm Current,
the cyclonic movement around the northern Huanghai Sea Cold Water Mass, the anticyclonic eddy in the area near the Shidao-Qingdao
coast and the flow of some of the Huanghai Sea water to the Japan Sea and to the North Pacific off Tokyo. The results show
that the drift bottles and cards are still useful for getting the flow pattern of enclosed and semi-enclosed seas.

China is planning to land a spacecraft on the farside of the Moon, a premiere, by 2018. In essence, the traditional tracking modes, based on direct visibility, cannot operate for the lunar farside lander tracking, and therefore a relay satellite, visible at the same time by both the lander and the Earth, will be required, operating in the so-called four-way mode (Earth-relay satellite-lander-relay satellite-Earth). In this paper, we firstly give the mathematical formulation of the four-way relay tracking mode and of its partial derivatives with respect to the relevant parameters, implemented in our POD software WUDOGS (Wuhan University Deep-space Orbit determination and Gravity recovery System). In a second step, in simulation mode, we apply this relay mode to determining lander coordinates, which are absolutely needed for a sample return mission, or to add constraints on rotation models of the Moon. The results show that with Doppler measurements at a 0.1 mm/s error level, the positioning of the farside lander could be done at centimeters level (1-\(\delta\)) in the case of a circumlunar relay satellite; and at a 5 meters level (1-\(\delta\)) in the case of a Lagrange point (L2) Halo relay satellite. 相似文献

We studied mid-infrared (MIR) variability of a large sample of blazars detected by LAT/Fermi (called Fermi-detected blazars) and those not detected by LAT/Fermi (called non-Fermi-detected blazars) in order to investigate any difference in the variability characteristics between them as well as between FSRQs and BL Lacs. Making use of NEOWISE archival data from October 2013 to December 2017, we constructed the long-term 3.4 μm and 4.6 μm light curves of 2,573 blazars and computed their intrinsic variability amplitudes, \(\varPsi \). As a result, we found that (1) Fermi-detected blazars show higher \(\varPsi \) than non-Fermi-detected blazars; (2) Fermi-detected FSRQs show higher \(\varPsi \) than non-Fermi-detected FSRQs; (3) Fermi-detected BL Lacs show higher \(\varPsi \) than non-Fermi-detected BL Lacs; (4) FSRQs show higher \(\varPsi \) than BL Lacs. By comparing their distributions of “\(\mathit{var}\_\mathit{flg}\)” in the ALLWISE database, we also found that Fermi-detected blazars/FSRQs/BL Lacs tend to be more variable than non-Fermi-detected blazars/FSRQs/BL Lacs. For the Fermi-detected blazars, there are highly significant correlations between the flux densities and spectral indices in the MIR and gamma-ray bands. These results imply that the activity in the two bands is connected. Our results are consistent with several earlier results on the differences between Fermi-detected blazars and non-Fermi-detected blazars.
