The Wittichen Co–Ag–Bi–U mining area (Schwarzwald ore district, SW Germany) hosts several unconformity-related vein-type mineralizations
within Variscan leucogranite and Permian to Triassic redbeds. The multistage mineralization formed at the intersection of
two fault systems in the last 250 Ma. A Permo-Triassic ore stage I with minor U–Bi–quartz–fluorite mineralization is followed
by a Jurassic to Cretaceous ore stage II with the main Ag and Co mineralization consisting of several generations of gangue
minerals that host the sub-stages of U–Bi, Bi–Ag, Ni–As–Bi and Co–As–Bi. Important ore minerals are native elements, Co and
Ni arsenides, and pitchblende; sulphides are absent. The Miocene ore stage III comprises barite with the Cu–Bi sulfosalts
emplectite, wittichenite and aikinite, and the sulphides anilite and djurleite besides native Bi, chalcopyrite, sphalerite,
galena and tennantite. The mineral-forming fluid system changed from low salinity (<5 wt.% NaCl) at high temperature (around
300°C) in Permian to highly saline (around 25 wt.% NaCl + CaCl2) at lower temperatures (50–150°C) in Triassic to Cretaceous times. Thermodynamic calculations and comparison with similar
mineralizations worldwide show that the Mesozoic ore-forming fluid was alkaline with redox conditions above the hematite–magnetite
buffer. We suggest that the precipitation mechanism for native elements, pitchblende and arsenides is a decrease in pH during
fluid mixing processes. REE patterns in fluorite and the occurrence of Bi in all stages suggest a granitic source of some
ore-forming elements, whereas, e.g. Ag, Co and Ni probably have been leached from the redbeds. The greater importance of Cu
and isotope data indicates that the Miocene ore stage III is more influenced by fluids from the overlying redbeds and limestones

Abstract Around 9000 inhabitants in the Panda River basin, Sonbhadhra District, Uttar Pradesh, India, are vulnerable to a “silent” dental and skeletal fluorosis from groundwater consumption. The fluoride source and seasonal groundwater quality variation were studied by collecting 65 groundwater samples in the Upper Panda River basin. Major rock types are phyllites and granite gneissic rocks. Fluoride concentrations are in the range 0.4–5.6 mg/L in the pre-monsoon season and 0.1–6.7 mg/L in the post-monsoon season. Fluor-apatite and biotite mica in the granite gneissic rock were identified as the main provenance of fluoride in the groundwater through water–rock interactions. Due to precipitation of calcium, soils become alkaline with high contents of sodium; these conditions allow fluoride to accumulate in water. According to risk index calculations, the fluoride-affected villages were shown to fall in the fluoride risk zone (with a risk index of around 1.7). On the basis of mineral stability diagrams, groundwater from the weathered and fractured aquifers appears to be stable within the kaolinite field, suggesting weathering of silicate minerals. The groundwater is chemically potable and suitable for domestic and agricultural purposes, except for a few wells in the southern region that are contaminated with high amounts of fluoride. Editor D. Non‐linear soil–structure interactions are usually analysed using an incremental finite element approach. There a constitutive subroutine provides for each element the stress increment for a given strain increment. In geotechnical calculations, uncertainties in material parameters and initial conditions are abundant. Sensitivity analysis can be a first step to account for such uncertainties. Sensitivities of the system response with respect to material parameters and initial conditions can be calculated by differentiating the whole numerical scheme. It turns out that the essential information from the constitutive subroutine are the derivatives of the stress increment with respect to the strain increment, as well as the derivatives with respect to material parameters and all state variables involved in the problem. We propose a method to compute these quantities numerically for any constitutive model that can be written in rate form and for any suitable integrator of such a model. We further present a concise way to supply the output of the sensitivity analysis to the designing engineer. We describe a new instrument for seismically probing the properties of the Sun's lower atmosphere, and present some first
results from an observational campaign carried out at the geographic South Pole during the austral summer of 2002/2003. A
preliminary analysis of the data (simultaneous, high-cadence observations of the velocity signals from the photosphere and
low chromosphere) shows that the well-known suppression of acoustic power in regions of strong magnetic field, and enhancement
of high-frequency power around active regions (acoustic halos), are both consistent with a spreading out of the magnetic field
lines with increasing height in the atmosphere. The data have also revealed some unexpected wave behavior. First, evanescent-like
waves are found at frequencies substantially above the acoustic cut-off frequency in regions of intermediate magnetic field.
Second, upward- and downward-propagating waves are detected in areas of strong magnetic field such as sunspots and plage:
even at frequencies below the acoustic cut-off frequency. Third, the wave behavior in regions of strong magnetic field can
change over periods of a few hours from propagating to evanescent. While we have no concrete explanation for the first two
results, the latter result opens up the question of whether sound waves are involved in short-term events such as flares or

We present the results of a two-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamic simulation of collisions of dense shells of matter moving within a uniform jet. The non-thermal synchrotron radiation produced by the relativistic electrons injected at shocks is computed following their temporal and spatial evolution. We test different parameterizations of the shock acceleration process and compute the corresponding X-ray light curves. A time lag between hard and soft X-ray radiation is found. The collision has an efficiency of few times 10?3 in converting kinetic energy into radiation. 相似文献

Thin-bedded and millimetrically laminated platy marly limestone quarried near Vallecillo, north-eastern Mexico, contains abundant excellently preserved marine fossils. Planktic foraminifers, inoceramids, and ammonites occur throughout the 7.7-m-thick section of this plattenkalk and provide a precise and detailed biostratigraphic zonation from the uppermost Cenomanian to early Turonian, with a mixed assemblage of Tethyan and Western Interior Seaway faunal elements. Five species of inoceramids are present and described herein: Inoceramus pictus pictus, Mytiloides hattini, M. puebloensis, M. goppelnensis, and M. kossmati. The faunal characteristics of the Vallecillo fossil assemblage combined with the monotonous lithology are favourable attributes for correlation with the GSSP at Pueblo, Colorado, and the Eastbourne section in southern England. The first appearances (FAs) of Watinoceras and Mammites nodosoides are considered approximately isochronous and thus suited for long-distance correlation. In contrast, the FAs of Pseudaspidoceras flexuosum, Fagesia catinus, and Helvetoglobotruncana helvetica are clearly diachronous. The range of M. kossmati needs further evaluation. 相似文献
