This paper presents and discusses selected reflectance spectra of 40 Main Belt asteroids. The spectra have been obtained by the author in the Crimean Laboratory of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute (2003–2009). The aim is to search for new spectral features that characterize the composition of the asteroids’ material. The results are compared with earlier findings to reveal substantial irregularities in the distribution of the chemical-mineralogical compositions of the surface material of a number of minor planets (10 Hygiea, 13 Egeria, 14 Irene, 21 Lutetia, 45 Eugenia, 51 Nemausa, 55 Pandora, 64 Angelina, 69 Hesperia, 80 Sappho, 83 Beatrix, 92 Undina, 129 Antigone, 135 Hertha, and 785 Zwetana), which are manifest at different rotation phases. The vast majority of the analyzed high-temperature asteroids demonstrate subtle spectral features of an atypical hydrated and/or carbonaceous chondrite material (in the form of impurities or separate units), which are likely associated with the peculiarities of the formation of these bodies and the subsequent dynamic and impact processes, which lead, inter alia, to the delivery of atypical materials. Studies of 4 Vesta aboard NASA’s Dawn spacecraft have found that asteroids of similar types can form their own phyllosilicate generations provided that their surface material contains buried icy or hydrated fragments of impacting bodies. The first evidence has been obtained of a spectral phase effect (SPE) at small phase angles (≤4°) for 10 Hygiea, 21 Lutetia, and, possibly, 4 Vesta. The SPE manifests itself in an increasing spectral coefficient of brightness in the visible range with decreasing wavelength. This effect is present in the reflectance spectrum of CM2 carbonaceous material at a phase angle of 10° and absent at larger angles (Cloutis et al., 2011a). The shape of Hygeia’s reflectance spectra at low phase angles appears to be controlled by the SPE during the most part of its rotation period, which may indicate a predominantly carbonaceous chondrite composition on a part of the asteroid’s surface. For Vesta, the SPE may manifest itself in the flat or slightly concave shape of the asteorid’s reflectance spectra at some of the rotation phases, which is likely caused by the increased number of dark spots on corresponding parts of its surface.  相似文献

Two quasars SDSS J010013.02+280225.8 and J030642.51+185315.8 with redshifts z = 6.30 and z = 5.363 were recently discovered. Their apparent magnitudes in the standard cosmological model give the luminosities of Lbol ~ 4.3 × 1014L and Lbol ~ 3.4 × 1014L. In the framework of modern concepts it is accepted that the energy release of quasars is provided by the accretion onto black holes with masses of 1.24 ± 0.19 × 1010M and 1.07 ± 0.27 × 1010M. As within the standard cosmological model the ages of these objects are about one billion years, this creates serious difficulties for the scenario of formation of such objects. Here we interpret the ultra-high luminosities of quasars as the effect of lensing of their radiation by the foreground globular clusters or dwarf galaxies.  相似文献

Results of 11-year-long X-ray INTEGRAL observations of the nucleus of Seyfert galaxy NGC 4945 in the 3–500 keV range were processed. A two-component spectrum model, which includes strong radiation absorption in the Compton-thick torus around the AGN “central engine” and secondary radiation reflected from the torus walls, was used in the analysis. The following primary spectrum parameters were determined based on the data accumulated throughout the entire exposure period: photon index Γ = 1.60 ± 0.07, exponential cutoff energy E c =157 -22 +29 keV, and column density of the medium that absorbs primary radiation N H,1 =5.0 -0.9 +1.0 × 1024 cm–2. The column density of the medium absorbing reflected radiation is two orders of magnitude lower. Both the X-ray flux in the ranges of 20–40, 40–60, and 60–100 keV and the shape of the X-ray spectrum of NGC 4945 vary. The spectrum shape variations may be induced by inhomogeneities of the absorbing medium surrounding the AGN. At the same time, there is some evidence for moderate spectrum variations in the highenergy region, which may be associated with changes in the “central engine.”  相似文献

Telescopes with aperture higher than 3 m and with travel rate of optical axis of more than 4 angular degrees per second are examined. These telescopes are used for estimating the situation in near-Earth space. Up to now, there are three telescopes with such parameters: SOR, AMOS, SST (all in the United States). A telescope of the same class with aperture of 3.12 m (information telescope TI-3.12) is under completion at Altai Optical Laser Center. The main technical performances of the TI-3.12 telescope are described in the paper. Current problems are defined and ways for their solution are presented.  相似文献

Within the framework of the “Astronomy in the Elbrus Region” international program, investigations of space debris objects using optical measurements are carried out at the observation complex of the Zeiss-2000 telescope (developed by the International Center for Astronomical and Medico-Ecological Research, National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine) at Terskol Observatory. The objectives of this study are to detect, catalog, and determine the physical characteristics of small-sized space debris fragments, maintain orbit catalogs, and investigate the influence of nongravitational perturbations on the orbital motion and the evolution of orbits of these fragments.  相似文献

The MOx instrument was developed to characterize the reactive nature of the martian soil. The objectives of MOx were: (1) to measure the rate of degradation of organics in the martian environment; (2) to determine if the reactions seen by the Viking biology experiments were caused by a soil oxidant and measure the reactivity of the soil and atmosphere: (3) to monitor the degradation, when exposed to the martian environment, of materials of potential use in future missions; and, finally, (4) to develop technologies and approaches that can be part of future soil analysis instrumentation. The basic approach taken in the MOx instrument was to place a variety of materials composed as thin films in contact with the soil and monitor the physical and chemical changes that result. The optical reflectance of the thin films was the primary sensing-mode. Thin films of organic materials, metals, and semiconductors were prepared. Laboratory simulations demonstrated the response of thin films to active oxidants.  相似文献
