New Method for Predicting the Motion Responses of A Flexible Joint Multi-Body Floating System to Irregular Waves

A new hybrid method of frequency domain and time domain is developed in this paper to predict the motion responses of a flexibly joint multi-body floating system to irregular waves. The main idea of the method is that the three-dimensional frequency method is used to obtain the hydrodynamic coefficients and the response equations are solved in time domain step by step. All the forces can be obtained at the same time. The motions and nonlinear mooring forces of a box type six-body floating system are predicted. A comparison of the theoretical method-based solutions with experimental results has shown good agreement.     

An Engineering Computational Method of Calculating Wave Forces on the Mat and Platform''''s Sit-on-Bottom Stability

- In this paper, an engineering method is employed to calculate the horizontal and vertical wave forces on the mat of the submersible platform under Froude-Krylov hypothesis. According to some model tests, appropriate diffraction coefficients are selected. And the results of the formulae given in the paper agree satisfactorily with those experimental data now available. The proposed computational method is effective and convenient to use in evaluating the horizontal and vertical wave forces on the mat. An exmaple is also given in this paper. Finally, the effects of the vertical wave force on the platorm's sit-on-bottom stability are analyzed.

On the DB gap of white dwarf evolution:effects of hydrogen mass fraction and convective overshooting

We investigate the spectral evolution of white dwarfs by considering the effects of hydrogen mass in the atmosphere and convective overshooting above the convection zone.Our numerical results show that white dwarfs with MH～10-16M⊙ show the DA spectral type between 46000■Teff■26000K and the DO or DB spectral type may appear on either side of this temperature range.White dwarfs with10-15M⊙ appear as DA stars until they cool to Teff～31000K;from then on they will evolve into DB white dwarfs as a result of conve...

Characteristics of infrared point sources associated with OH masers

We collect 3249 OH maser sources from the literature published up to April 2007, and compile a new catalog of OH masers. We look for the exciting sources of these masers and their infrared properties from IRAS and MSX data, and make a statistical study. MSX sources associated with stellar 1612 MHz OH masers are located mainly above the blackbody line; this is caused by the dust absorption of stellar envelopes, especially in the MSX A band. Submillimeter/millimeter observations of the high-mass star forming region IRAS 22506+5944

The mapping observations of CO J = 2-1, CO J = 3-2, 13 CO J = 2-1 and 13 CO J = 3-2 lines in the direction of IRAS 22506+5944 have been made. The results show that the cores in the J = 2-1 transition lines have a similar morphology to those in the J = 3-2 transition lines. Bipolar molecular outflows are verified.
