Green-lipped mussels (Perna viridis) were collected from seven fish culture zones (FCZs) in Hong Kong and analyzed for okadaic acid (OA). A conventional HPLC method was modified by incorporating a proteinase K digestion step. Results suggest that a higher recovery (2.5 times higher) of OA was obtained from spiked samples after the addition of 1.08 mg proteinase K in comparison with samples incubated without the proteolytic enzyme. For the hepatopancreas (HP) of individual field-collected mussels, the additional digestion step can enhance OA extraction by 3.1 times. Spatial and temporal variations in OA concentrations in the mussels from various FCZs were investigated. The highest concentration of OA in mussel HP samples was 1164.9 ng/g HP wet wt. With respect to OA concentrations in whole mussel tissues from seven sites and four seasonal samplings, the concentrations were between 70.0 and 131.0 ng/g wet wt., which did not exceed the generally recognized international regulatory criteria (>200 ng/g) for OA.  相似文献

Global changes in the marine environment and the continuing disposal of genotoxic xenobiotics are increasing the importance of environmental pollution monitoring and of biomonitoring programs. Current approaches focus on investigations at regional and local levels in an attempt to precisely define the nature and extent of any potential environmental crisis. We have initiated, for the first time, a long-term biomonitoring program focusing on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea to contribute to a more detailed understanding of marine genotoxic effects using the mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis Lam., collected along the eastern Adriatic coast over a period of five years (1998-2002), as a key test organism. The integrity of DNA in its gill homogenate was examined by the Fast Micromethod. The strand scission factor (SSF) values, as a measure of DNA integrity, DNA damage or incomplete repair have been used for the ranking of sampling sites with respect to significant genotoxic stress due to the influence or effects of genotoxic xenobiotics. The region of Split (Kastela Bay) proved to be the area with the heaviest load of genotoxic agents. The investigation of harmful effects in the ecosystem based on biomonitoring of genetic and other agents, not only on local levels but also on a wider scale, is considered as an important step in marine environmental management.  相似文献

In this investigation the orbits of 21 Atens (semimajor axes smaller than the Earth) are studied with the aid of numerical integrations over the time interval of one million years. The dynamical model was a 6-body Solar System, where the perturbations of Uranus and Neptune were ignored, and where Mercury's mass was added to the Sun's mass. Thus mean motion resonances, secular resonances and the Kozai resonance were fully taken into account. The evolution of the semimajor axes shows the typical step function like pattern which we know also from comets although some Atens have a very fuzzy development of the orbital elements, and some of them stay in a mean motion resonance for very long time. The evolution from Atens to Apollos (with semimajor axes larger than the Earth) and vice versa is also a phenomenon which we could observe. The main goal was the study of encounters of the Atens with the Earth and Venus. We found out that Venus encounters occur somewhat more often than Earth encounters (approximately one within the distance Earth - Moon every 40000 years with Venus, one every 50000 years with the Earth). The orbits of 12 Trojan asteroids, which have Lyapunov times T L105 years and were previously classified as ASCs(=asteroids in stable chaos), are integrated for 50 Myrs, along with a group of neighbouring initial conditions for each nominal orbit. About 40% of the orbits present strong instabilities in the inclination, which may be attributed primarily to the action of the 16 secular resonance; two escapes are also recorded. Higher-order secular resonances, involving the nodes of the outer planets, are also found to be responsible for chaotic motion. Orbital stability depends critically on the choice of initial conditions and, thus, these objects can be regarded as being on the edge of strong chaos.  相似文献

New results are shown for the possible long term evolution of the orbit of Enceladus perturbed by Dione in the 2:1 resonance in the planar elliptic restricted problem. The numerical integrations of the secular variation equations (Ferraz-Mello and Dvorak, 1986) yield different types of chaotic behaviour. We also studied the onset of chaos for this dynamical system. Additionally, some illustrative pictures of the whole phase trajectory show the complex structure of phase space.  相似文献

Among the key problems associated with the study of climate variability and its evolution are identification of the factors responsible for observed changes and quantification of their effects. Here, correlation and regression analysis are employed to detect the imprints of selected natural forcings (solar and volcanic activity) and anthropogenic influences (amounts of greenhouse gases—GHGs—and atmospheric aerosols), as well as prominent climatic oscillations (Southern Oscillation—SO, North Atlantic Oscillation—NAO, Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation—AMO) in the Czech annual and monthly temperature and precipitation series for the 1866–2010 period. We show that the long-term evolution of Czech temperature change is dominated by the influence of an increasing concentration of anthropogenic GHGs (explaining most of the observed warming), combined with substantially lower, and generally statistically insignificant, contributions from the sulphate aerosols (mild cooling) and variations in solar activity (mild warming), but with no distinct imprint from major volcanic eruptions. A significant portion of the observed short-term temperature variability can be linked to the influence of NAO. The contributions from SO and AMO are substantially weaker in magnitude. Aside from NAO, no major influence from the explanatory variables was found in the precipitation series. Nonlinear forms of regression were used to test for nonlinear interactions between the predictors and temperature/precipitation; the nonlinearities disclosed were, however, very weak, or not detectable at all. In addition to the outcomes of the attribution analysis for the Czech series, results for European and global land temperatures are also shown and discussed.  相似文献

The heat waves of 2003 in Western Europe and 2010 in Russia, commonly labelled as rare climatic anomalies outside of previous experience, are often taken as harbingers of more frequent extremes in the global warming-influenced future. However, a recent reconstruction of spring–summer temperatures for WE resulted in the likelihood of significantly higher temperatures in 1540. In order to check the plausibility of this result we investigated the severity of the 1540 drought by putting forward the argument of the known soil desiccation-temperature feedback. Based on more than 300 first-hand documentary weather report sources originating from an area of 2 to 3 million km2, we show that Europe was affected by an unprecedented 11-month-long Megadrought. The estimated number of precipitation days and precipitation amount for Central and Western Europe in 1540 is significantly lower than the 100-year minima of the instrumental measurement period for spring, summer and autumn. This result is supported by independent documentary evidence about extremely low river flows and Europe-wide wild-, forest- and settlement fires. We found that an event of this severity cannot be simulated by state-of-the-art climate models.  相似文献
