An estimate of the duct life time from low latitude ground observations of whistlers at Varanasi

The observed periodicity in the whistler occurrence rate recorded at our low latitude ground station at Varanasi (geomagnetic latitude, 14°55'N) is interpreted in terms of duct life time at lowL values. Power spectrum analysis of the whistler data yields a period of about 50 min for the growth and decay of ducts. Further dispersion analysis of the whistlers has qualitatively confirmed the existence of separate ducts during the period of observations.
