Four K-feldspar samples from the Yidun Arc, eastern Tibetan Plateau, were analysed by the 40Ar/39Ar method with the aim of recovering information on their thermal history using multiple diffusion domain (MDD) theory. Arrhenius plots for each of the samples reveal low retentivity early in the heating experiments, a property that is attributed to their recrystallised nature. This low argon retentivity appears to violate the MDD assumption that volume diffusion is the only mechanism for argon transport within the crystals, thus the thermal histories derived from these analyses are considered suspect. Nevertheless, the age spectra themselves suggest that the majority of samples had cooled below 200 °C prior to the Eocene collision of India with Asia. Thermal history modelling from apatite fission track analyses from the same and nearby samples shows slow cooling through the apatite fission track partial annealing zone during the Cenozoic in samples from the high elevation, low relief areas of the Yidun Arc, while samples from the major Jinsha River valley show rapid cooling through the partial annealing zone beginning in the Miocene. These results suggest that significant Cenozoic denudation has been localised and that most parts of the Yidun Arc have experienced very little denudation during the Cenozoic. 相似文献

Although the inhomogeneous nature of solar magnetic fields is now well established, most theoretical analyses of hydromagnetic wave propagation assume infinite homogeneous fields. Here we reformulate the hydromagnetic wave problem for magnetic fields which vary in one direction perpendicular to the field. The permitted modes of small amplitude hydromagnetic oscillations are considered, first in the case of a single interface between semi-infinite magnetic and non-magnetic compressible regions, and secondly for a magnetic flux sheath of given thickness imbedded in a nonmagnetic region. It is shown that, for small values of R (the ratio of the Alfvén to the sound speed), an acoustic or p-mode wave front passes through the flux sheath with only minor deformation. However, for large R, the transmitted acoustic wave is attenuated and, depending upon the thickness of the flux sheath and the angle of incidence, a hydromagnetic wave may be effectively trapped and guided along the flux sheath. It is also shown that, for the symmetric vibration of the flux sheath in the absence of incident acoustic waves, only slow mode type waves are permitted. Thus, in compressible regions for which R > 1 the Alfvénic-type fast mode is not a permitted mode of free vibration of a flux sheath. 相似文献

Earlier photometric and spectroscopic observations of the binary BM Ori are interpreted in terms of a thin disk model for the object which causes the eclipses. It is shown that the secondary mass, about which the disk particles orbit, has small dimensions and a mass of 3 to 4m
, which suggests that it can only be a collapsed star. The model requires a history of mass exchange or mass loss for the binary. If the Trapezium stars have been formed with the past 2×104 yr, as some studies have indicated, a less conventional alternative, perhaps involving fragmentation of a pre-stellar mass, is needed. A brief summary of observations of inhomogeneities in the solar atmosphere and progress in the theoretical analysis of two-dimensional model atmospheres is given. In particular, it is asserted that reliable reference models of the mean temperature, pressure, etc. may be derived only by averaging over the horizontal coordinates of a two- or three-dimensional model. In discussion of a wide variety of cases including strong chromospheric lines, weak photospheric lines, and continuum radiation, it is shown that although the derivation of mean values by first averaging over the fluctuations in the data and then applying a one-dimension analysis is an obvious first approximation, it may lead to errors of a gross qualitative nature.
