Spectra of Hα, Hβ and Hδ have been taken under good seeing conditions with the vacuum tower telescope of Sacramento Peak Observatory. Intensity curves are given at various wavelengths in these lines to permit further comparison with a theoretical model. Moreover, considering in each case the range of height in which the lines are almost optically thin and using a few approximations, the following results are derived: between 2000 and 6000 km above the limb the average thermal + turbulent velocity of the atoms is found to increase from 20 km s?1 to 30 km s?1 and the mean number of hydrogen atoms per cm3 in level 2 is given by $$\log n_2 {\text{ = }}4.5{\text{ }} - {\text{ 0}}{\text{.00056(}}z - 2000)$$ z being the altitude above the limb in km. Non-conservative behavior of dissolved inorganic phosphate (DIP) in estuaries is generally ascribed to desorption from iron and aluminum (hydr)oxides with increasing salinity. Here, we assess this hypothesis by simulating the reversible adsorption of phosphate onto a model oxide (goethite) along physico-chemical gradients representative of surface and subsurface estuaries. The simulations are carried out using a surface complexation model (SCM), which represents the main aqueous speciation and adsorption reactions of DIP, plus the ionic strength-dependent coulombic interactions in solution and at the mineral-solution interface. According to the model calculations, variations in pH and salinity alone are unlikely to explain the often reported production of DIP in surface estuaries. In particular, increased aqueous complexation of phosphate by Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions with increasing salinity is offset by the formation of ternary Mg-phosphate surface complexes and the drop in electrical potential at the mineral-water interface. However, when taking into account the downstream decrease in the abundance of sorption sites, the model correctly simulates the observed release of DIP in the Scheldt estuary. The sharp increase in pH accompanying the admixing of seawater to fresh groundwater should also cause desorption of phosphate from iron oxyhydroxides during seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. As for surface estuaries, the model calculations indicate that significant DIP release additionally requires a reduction in the phosphate sorption site density. In anoxic aquifers, this can result from the supply of seawater sulfate and the subsequent reductive dissolution of iron oxyhydroxides coupled to microbial sulfate reduction. 相似文献

Here we characterize the magnetic properties of the Chelyabinsk chondrite (LL5, S4, W0) and constrain the composition, concentration, grain size distribution, and mineral fabric of the meteorite's magnetic mineral assemblage. Data were collected from 10 to 1073 K and include measurements of low‐field magnetic susceptibility (χ0), the anisotropy of χ0, hysteresis loops, first‐order reversal curves, Mössbauer spectroscopy, and X‐ray microtomography. The REM and REM′ paleointensity protocols suggest that the only magnetizations recorded by the chondrite are components of the Earth's magnetic field acquired during entry into our planet's atmosphere. The Chelyabinsk chondrite consists of light and dark lithologies. Fragments of the light lithology show logχ0 = 4.57 ± 0.09 (s.d.) (n = 135), while the dark lithology shows 4.65 ± 0.09 (n = 39) (where χ0 is in 10?9 m3 kg?1). Thus, Chelyabinsk is three times more magnetic than the average LL5 fall, but is similar to a subgroup of metal‐rich LL5 chondrites (Paragould, Aldsworth, Bawku, Richmond) and L/LL5 chondrites (Glanerbrug, Knyahinya). The meteorite's room‐temperature magnetization is dominated by multidomain FeNi alloys taenite and kamacite (no tetrataenite is present). However, below approximately 75 K remanence is dominated by chromite. The metal contents of the light and dark lithologies are 3.7 and 4.1 wt%, respectively, and are based on values of saturation magnetization. 相似文献

Dust grains that formed around ancient stars and in stellar explosions seeded the early solar protoplanetary disk. While most of such presolar grains were destroyed during solar system formation, a fraction of such grains were preserved in primitive materials such as meteorites. These grains can provide constraints on stellar origins and secondary processing such as aqueous alteration and thermal metamorphism on their parent asteroids. Here, we report on the nature of aqueous alteration in the Miller Range (MIL) 07687 chondrite through the analysis of four presolar silicates and their surrounding material. The grains occur in the Fe-rich and Fe-poor lithologies, reflecting relatively altered and unaltered material, respectively. The O-isotopic compositions of two grains, one each from the Fe-rich and Fe-poor matrix, are consistent with formation in the circumstellar envelopes of low-mass Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB)/Red Giant Branch (RGB) stars. The other two grains, also one each from the Fe-rich and Fe-poor matrix, have O-isotopic compositions consistent with formation in the ejecta of type-II supernovae (SNe). The grains derived from AGB/RGB stars include two polycrystalline pyroxene grains that contain Fe-rich rims. The SNe grains include a polycrystalline Ca-bearing pyroxene and a polycrystalline assemblage consistent with a mixture of olivine and pyroxene. Ferrihydrite is observed in all focused ion beam sections, consistent with parent-body aqueous alteration of the fine-grained matrix under oxidizing conditions. The Fe-rich rims around presolar silicates in this study are consistent with Fe-diffusion into the grains resulting from early-stage hydrothermal alteration, but such alteration was not extensive enough to lead to isotopic equilibration with the surrounding matrix. 相似文献

We present a model that simulates the growth of a metropolitan area on a 2D lattice. The model is dynamic and based on microeconomics.
Households show preferences for nearby open spaces and neighbourhood density. They compete on the land market. They travel
along a road network to access the CBD. A planner ensures the connectedness and maintenance of the road network. The spatial
pattern of houses, green spaces and road network self-organises, emerging from agents individualistic decisions. We perform
several simulations and vary residential preferences. Our results show morphologies and transition phases that are similar
to Dieletric Breakdown Models (DBM). Such similarities were observed earlier by other authors, but we show here that it can be deducted from the functioning

La foliation magnétique est parallèle à la première schistosité pénétrative même si celle-ci est effacée par une seconde schistosité. La linéation magnétique indique retirement lié à la direction de transport des nappes. Dans la partie la plus métamorphique où apparaît la pyrrhotite au cours de la déformation, la fabrique magnétique permet de situer l’apparition de ce minéral dans la tectonique polyphasée.
