A multi-isotopic study of thermo-mineral waters from the Limagne Basin (French Massif Central) is reported. Lithium, B, Sr and Nd isotopic signatures in thermo-mineral waters and bedrocks were combined in order to determine the origin of these fluids from a reservoir point of view. Strontium and Nd isotopic systems showed that the thermo-mineral waters are mostly derived from a granitic reservoir type, with the exception of a few water samples having Sr and Nd isotopic signatures also reflecting a volcanic contribution (basalts). In a second step, Li and B isotopes were investigated, given that Li and B isotopic systematics are potentially affected by mass dependent fractionation during water/rock interaction and could provide some information on what takes place during this process. A great diversity of thermo-mineral waters within the Aigueperse area was clearly observed, which is directly related to the origin of these thermal waters in terms of reservoirs. These different geothermal reservoirs are characterized by different geological settings and intensity of water/rock interaction (i.e. depth and temperature).  相似文献

Solid phase P speciation has been determined in sediments from a transect across the central section of the continental shelf and slope of the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) lagoon. This region is characterized by a gradient of riverine aluminosilicate clay and silt nearshore, seawards of which biogenic carbonate sediment predominates. Phosphorus speciation results show large variations along this transect. Organic P and authigenic (apatite) P are the major chemical forms of phosphorus in the central GBR continental shelf sediments. Post-depositional reorganization of P was also observed, converting organic P and iron bound P (Fe-P) to authigenic (apatite) P. Phosphorus burial rate was estimated from measurements of total P concentration and excess 210Pb sediment mass accumulation rates. Burial efficiency varies significantly over the shelf. Inshore areas showed significant P remobilization from sediments to the water column (up to ∼50%). The mid and the outer shelf showed little evidence for remobilization (except for coral reef platform sediments), with more of the sediment P being in the less reactive authigenic apatite phases. An appreciable fraction of this non-labile authigenic apatite phase was identified as fish bone. P sources and sinks over the central part of the GBR shelf were quantified using a mass balance approach. This showed that Coral Sea shelf edge upwelling events are essential to satisfy the large P nutrient demand of the whole GBR lagoon. P inputs due to upwelling events were greater than those contributed by local rivers over an average year.  相似文献

Total concentrations of Cd, Cr, Co, Fe, Pb, Ni, Mn and Zn were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry in the surface sediments of Taylor Creek, Southern Nigeria. The most concentrated trace metals, ranging from 113.2 to 5160.7 mg/g-dry weights were Fe, Pb, Mn, Ni and Zn. There was no significant variation in sediment-associated metal levels (P>0.05). The metal pollution index was highest at Agbia/Nedugo and is attributed to local contamination of the Creek. The concentrations of low molecular weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were also detected and quantified in the sediments by capillary gas chromatography equipped with a flame ionization detector. The concentration levels of 178.1-1266.3 mg/g-wet weights were high for the PAHs. The results indicate that the pollutants, which are bio-accumulatable, could contribute to inferior biodiversity, and shifts in community composition from sensitive to tolerant taxa.  相似文献

The role of gas turbine power plants in electrical energy production has been considerably increased in the last two to three decades. Various methods have been proposed to improve the performance of gas turbine cycles. In this research, two methods, a reheat cycle and a cycle with a reheat and a recuperator, were investigated and compared with a simple cycle. The main objective of this paper is to study the performance of an simple cycle and reheat cycle under actual conditions. In this regard, all processes are treated as actual, and in particular a relatively simple and reliable approach is used to predict the amount of cooling air. The results obtained on the basis of a model developed for this research show that reheating in the context of a realistic study may lead to an improvement both in efficiency and in specific net work using recuperator cause to decrease NOx emission.  相似文献

Exhausted Reactive dye bath samples of Turquoise Blue, Olive Green and Navy Blue shades were collected from cotton knit wear dyeing units in Tirupur. Ozonation was conducted in a column reactor system fed with ozone at the rate of 0.16 g/min to assess its efficiency in reducing the color, chemical oxygen demand and total organic carbon. Complete decolorization of the effluent was achieved in 10 min contact time and ozone consumption of 153 mg/ L for Turquoise Blue, 128 for Olive Green and 143 for Navy Blue shades effluents respectively. The corresponding COD removal was 43%, 44% and 43% for the three shades while TOC removal efficiency was 45%, 45% and 40% respectively. The results from the reusability studies indicate that the dyeing quality was not affected by the reuse of decolorized dye bath for two successive cycles. It is concluded that ozonation is efficient in decolorization of exhausted dye bath effluents containing conventional reactive dyes. However, the corresponding removal of COD from the textile effluent was not significant.  相似文献

Biodegradation of oil depends on the nature of the oil, the type of microbial community and a variety of environmental factors. Green oils are being used as consumer goods and as raw materials in industries such as food processing, pharmaceutical and cosmetic. Microbial contaminations of green oils have been the cause of degradation problems. Serratia Marcessens produced cytochrome oxidase, catalase, Dextrose, Lactose, Manose and sorbitol enzymes were the main reason for the degradation af palmarosa oil. Changes of colour and turbidity was also the evidence for green oil degradation by bacteria. More oxygen included protons (0-CH2) group was produced in the presence of bacterial species and the addition of oxygen took place during bacterial degradation of palmarosa oil. The biodegradation of palmarosa oil by Serratia marcescens have been carried out using High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and Nuclear Magnetic spectroscopy analysis. Carboxyl group present in the palmorasa oil is utilised as a sole carbon sources for the Serratia marcescens.  相似文献

Desorption of Cu and low molecular weight dissolved organics are the primary factors that impact fate and transport of Cu in soils. To improve predictions of the toxicity and threat from Cu contaminated soil, it is critical that time-dependent desorption behavior be understood. In this paper, the effect of organic ligands citrate, malate, and succinate on the kinetics of Cu desorption from contaminated soils varying widely in soil characteristics was investigated at 25° C and the soils used were referred to as clay, calcareous and sandy soils. The amount of Cu released by the used organic ligands varied greatly with physicochemical properties of the soils. The rate of Cu release by different extractants was in the order citric > malic > succinic, which was consistent with the stability constants of Cu complexes with these ligands. The modified Freundlich and the Elovich and Parabolic diffusion models were used to describe dsorption of Cu2+ from the three studied soils as affected by the organic ligands. All of the models fit the data well with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.83 to 1.00 (P < 0.01). Each Model has a set of assumptions for the different physical and chemical properties of the systems to which they are being applied. The uses of these equations yield different magnitudes for the calculated variable, but the relationships between the soil + organic ligands and their effect (i.e., increase or decrease) on these variables are the same. Such information is critical, since Cu is used in a variety of industrial and manufacturing processes and is one of the most common contaminants found at hazardous waste sites.  相似文献
