We constructed a wide field cryogenic telescope (WFCT) containing a whole Ritchey-Chrétien system and a focal plane array
in a cryostat for near infrared observations to cover the field of view of 0.4°. The telescope has a primary mirror of 220
mm and an engineering grade 256 × 256 InSb array. The optical components such as two mirrors, filters, spiders, and radiation
shield tube are cooled down to 180 K as well as the InSb array to 35 K by a mechanical refrigerator. We show the results of
the background surface brightnesses and the limiting magnitudes at 3.3 and 3.67 μm measured at Sutherland, South Africa. We
describe the on-going upgrade of this instrument, equipped with a 1024 × 1024 ALADDIN InSb science grade array.

The electrical conductivities of several samples from returned Apollo 11 and 12 lunar rocks and from chondritic meteorites were measured from 300 to 1100K. Collectively the lunar samples represent all three of the major NASA classifications of lunar surface rocks. Of general interest is the observation that the conductivities of the lunar samples are much larger than the values which have previously been used in theoretical discussions of lunar phenomena. It is also found that the conductivity at 300K, (300), is extremely sensitive to the thermal history of the sample for both lunar and meteoritic material. Rocket results are presented on the OI 6300 Å line and on the N2+ 3914 Å band in the dayglow. An altitude range of 78–335 km is covered. Theoretical interpretations are given, using results of simultaneous measurements of electron density and electron temperature. The apparent brightness of the 6300 Å line at the base of the emitting region is found to be 13 kR, of which 5.5 kR are ascribed to excitation through the Schumann-Runge dissociation of O2 by the solar UV radiations, 0.55 kR to the dissociative recombination of O2+ and NO+ ions, and 0.03 kR to the excitation of O by thermal electrons. An additional source of excitation above 280 km is suggested. The deactivation of O(1D) by O2(X3Σg−) is found to be appreciable below 200 km, and its rate coefficient is estimated to be 2 × 10−10 cm3/sec. The apparent brightness of the 3914 Å band at the base of the emitting region is found to be 6.5 kR, decreasing to 3.2 kR at 330 km. Assuming that fluorescent scattering of solar radiation is the mechanism involved the distribution of N2+ ions is calculated. The infrared flux of Venus has been observed with a narrowband filter (λ = 3.6 μm, Δλ = 0.08 μm) from 1982 through 1984, covering a range of the phase angle α from 27 to 94°. Normalized values of flux at the Venus-Earth distance of 1 AU were (4.0–5.4) × 10?17W/cm2/cm?1 and the α dependence of the data is rather weak. Furthermore, when the evening terminator of Venus was seen, lower values of flux were obtained in contrast with higher values at the morning terminator. The α dependence is quite different from that of J.V. Martonchik and R. Beer (1975, J. Atmos. Sci.32, 1151–1156). Since we cannot find any significant problem in the two observational methods, the difference might suggest an intrinsic time variation of haze particles during these 10 years in the upper haze layer of the Venus cloud. 相似文献

In this paper,the impact of the Taiwan Island topography on the structure change and motion ofTyphoon Dot(9017)during its crossing the Taiwan Island is studied with a modified version of aJMA operational regional model(Japan spectral model,JSM).A series of sensitivity experiments areconducted to detect the forming and developing mechanism of an island-induced cyclone.Results showthat lee side low pressure center plays a very important role in the formation of the induced-cyclonewhile a typhoon is approaching a large island with high mountains.The position and intensity of theinduced cyclone is sensitive to the height and location of island mountain,intensity of TC and under-lying surface topography distribution as well.A preliminary formation criterion of the island-inducedcyclone is obtained. 相似文献

The relationship between the magnetization and temperature in a high constant magnetic field for a temperature range between 5 K and 1100 K was examined for Apollo 11, 12 and 14 lunar materials. The average value of Curie point temperature is (768.2 ± 3.5)°C for the lunar igneous rocks and (762.5 ± 3.4)°C for the lunar fines and breccias. A tentative conclusion about the ferromagnetic substance in the lunar materials would be that Fe is absolutely dominant with a slight association of Ni and Co, and probably Si also, in the lunar native irons.The antiferromagnetic phase of ilmenite and the paramagnetic phase of pyroxenes are considerably abundant in all lunar materials. However, a discrepancy of observed magnetization from a simulated value based on known magnetic elements for the temperature range between 10 and 40 K suggests that pyroxene phase represented by (M
x
Fe1-x
) SiO3 (whereM = Ca2+, Mg2+, etc and 0 x 1/4) also may behave antiferromagnetically.Magnetic hysteresis curves are obtained at 5 K and 300 K, and the viscous magnetic properties also are examined for a number of lunar materials. The superparamagnetically viscous magnetization has been experimentally proven as due to fine grains of metallic iron less than 200 Å in mean diameter. The viscous magnetization is dominant in the lunar fines and breccias which is classified into Type II, while it is much smaller than the stable magnetic component in lunar igneous rocks (Type I). The superparamagnetically fine particles of metallic iron are mostly blocked at 5 K in temperature; thus coercive force (H
c
) and saturation remanent magnetization (I
R
) become much large at 5 K as compared with the corresponding values at 300 K.Strongly impact-metamorphosed parts of lunar breccias have an extremely stable NRM which could be attributed to TRM. NRM of the lunar igneous rocks and majority of breccias (or clastic rocks) are intermediately stable, but their stability is considerably higher than that of IRM of the same intensity. This result may imply that some mechanism which causes an appreciable magnitude of NRM and the higher stability, such as the shock effect, may take place on the lunar surface in addition to TRM mechanism for special cases.A particular igneous rock (Sample 14053) is found to have an unusually strong magnetism owing to a high content of metallic iron (about 1 weight percent), and its NRM amounts to 2 × 10–3 emu/g. The abundance of such highly magnetic rocks is not known as yet but it seems that the observed magnetic anomalies on the lunar surface could be related to such highly magnetized rock masses. 相似文献

New results of dating of detrital zircons from the Kema and Silasa Formations (Albian, Sikhote–Alin Orogenic Belt) permit determination of the provenance sources and geodynamic settings of sediment deposition. The Silasa Formation was deposited in outer island arc settings, separated by a forearc basin from the inner island arc, where the Kema Formation sediments were accumulated. The significant depth and width of the forearc basin hindered input of continent-derived debris to the area of sedimentation of the Silasa Formation. 相似文献

Along the southwest coast of the Kii Peninsula, a bifurcation current is regularly observed. By using ADCP data taken on board
the R/V Wakayama of the Wakayama Prefectural Fisheries Experimental Station, characteristics of this bifurcation current are
analyzed. The occurrence frequency of the bifurcation current reaches about 70% in the period from 1988 to 1996. The bifurcation
point appears to be changeable and occurs almost evenly between Cape Ichie and Cape Shionomisaki. The current divergence in
the alongshore direction was also investigated. Positive divergence values dominated in the whole analyzed area, and an onshore
current appears to be dominant along the southwest coast of the Kii Peninsula, except in 1990 when the Kuroshio flowed in
