Crystal-plastic olivine deformation to produce subgrain boundaries composed of edge dislocations is an inevitable consequence
of asthenospheric mantle flow. Although crystal-plastic deformation and serpentinization are spatio-temporally decoupled,
we identified compositional readjustments expressed on the micrometric level as a striped Fe-enriched (
[`(X)]\textFe \bar{X}_{\text{Fe}} = 0.24 ± 0.02 (zones); 0.12 ± 0.02 (bulk)) or Fe-depleted (
[`(X)]\textFe \bar{X}_{\text{Fe}} = 0.10 ± 0.01 (zones); 0.13 ± 0.01 (bulk)) zoning in partly serpentinized olivine grains from two upper mantle sections in
Norway. Focused ion beam sample preparation combined with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and aberration-corrected
scanning TEM, enabling atomic-level resolved electron energy-loss spectroscopic line profiling, reveals that every zone is
immediately associated with a subgrain boundary. We infer that the zonings are a result of the environmental Fe2+Mg−1 exchange potential during antigorite serpentinization of olivine and the drive toward element exchange equilibrium. This
is facilitated by enhanced solid-state diffusion along subgrain boundaries in a system, which otherwise re-equilibrates via
dissolution-reprecipitation. Fe enrichment or depletion is controlled by the silica activity imposed on the system by the
local olivine/orthopyroxene mass ratio, temperature and the effect of magnetite stability. The Fe-Mg exchange coefficients
K\textD\textAtg/\textOl K_{\text{D}}^{{{\text{Atg}}/{\text{Ol}}}} between both types of zoning and antigorite display coalescence toward exchange equilibrium. With both types of zoning, Mn
is enriched and Ni depleted compared with the unaffected bulk composition. Nanometer-sized, heterogeneously distributed antigorite
precipitates along olivine subgrain boundaries suggest that water was able to ingress along them. Crystallographic orientation
relationships gained via electron backscatter diffraction between olivine grain domains and different serpentine vein generations
support the hypothesis that serpentinization was initiated along olivine subgrain boundaries. 相似文献

The heavily eutrophicated Limfjorden (Denmark) provides a good illustration of the value of long-term monitoring, especially
if this is combined with an experimental, interdisciplinary research approach. Here, we first give a short overview of the
environmental status of Limfjorden, including the historical development of nutrient overloading and subsequent oxygen depletion
in near-bottom water, and how the annual landings of edible bottom-dwelling fish species (plaice, flounder, eel and others)
caught in Limfjorden have decreased from about 2,500 t in the early 1920s to only about 20 t in recent years where the fish
have been replaced by an increasing number of especially the moon jellyfish, Aurelia aurita, which mainly preys on zooplankton. Next, we evaluate the ecological consequences of the present high number of jellyfish,
based on data from recent years’ research on the abundance of jellyfish, their population dynamics and predation impact. In
Limfjorden, the benthic polyp stage of A. aurita ensures a large number of small ephyrae in the early spring and subsequently a large population of adult medusae that control
the zooplankton during summer and autumn. The holopelagic invasive ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi, which was observed in Limfjorden for the first time in 2007, is a second carnivore adding additional predation pressure
of the indigenous A. aurita so that copepods and other mesozooplankton organisms may be virtually absent, as observed in 2008 and 2009 where ciliates
made up a substantial part of the zooplankton biomass. Marine environmental management programmes should be aware of the increasing
importance of both indigenous and new invasive jellyfish species that may show mass occurrence in especially eutrophicated

The increasing use of unstructured grids for reservoir modeling motivates the development of geostatistical techniques to
populate them with properties such as facies proportions, porosity and permeability. Unstructured grids are often populated
by upscaling high-resolution regular grid models, but the size of the regular grid becomes unreasonably large to ensure that
there is sufficient resolution for small unstructured grid elements. The properties could be modeled directly on the unstructured
grid, which leads to an irregular configuration of points in the three-dimensional reservoir volume. Current implementations
of Gaussian simulation for geostatistics are for regular grids. This paper addresses important implementation details involved
in adapting sequential Gaussian simulation to populate irregular point configurations including general storage and computation
issues, generating random paths for improved long range variogram reproduction, and search strategies including the superblock
search and the k-dimensional tree. An efficient algorithm for computing the variogram of very large irregular point sets is developed for

Multi-parameter studies (stable isotopes in carbonate and organic matter, pigment,organic carbon and nitrogen contents) from a 660-yr continuous sediment core from Lake Cheng-hai, a closed, eutropic lake in southern China, provide information on lake historical eutrophi-cation. During the last 660 years, great changes have taken place in productivity and eutrophi-cation of Lake Chenghai in response to human activities. In 1690, the productivity of the lakebegan to increase as Lake Chenghai became closed from agriculture in the lake‘‘ s watershed. In 1942, Lake Chenghai evolved to eutrophic state, marked by an increase in organic carbon, ni-trogen, CaC03, pigment contents and obvious negative values of stable isotopes, which is more or less simultaneous with the large-scale population immigration during the period. In 1984, in-tensive human activities induced modern lacustrine productivity and eutrophic level. Human-in-duced trophic changes during the past few decades have affected the Lake Chenghai ecosystem tosuch an extent that it has never experienced before in the last 660 years. 相似文献

We consider radiative transfer in C18O, HCO+, and CS molecular lines in a spherically symmetrical, coupled, dynamical and chemical model of a prestellar core whose evolution is determined by ambipolar diffusion. Theoretical and observed line profiles are compared for the well-studied core L1544, which may be a collapsing protostellar cloud. We study the relationship between the line shapes and model parameters. The structure of the envelope and kinematic parameters of the cloud are the most important factors determining the shape of the lines. Varying the input model parameters for the radiative transfer—the kinetic temperature and microturbulent velocity—within the limits imposed by observations does not result in any substantial variations of the line profiles. The comparison between the model and observed spectra indicates that L1544 displays a flattened structure, and is viewed at an oblique angle. A two-dimensional model is needed to reproduce this structure. 相似文献

Comments are presented on the article by Abbasnejad et al. (Environ Earth Sci 75:1306, 2016) dealing with qanat and hazards in Iran. My rebuttal starts from the direct attribution of the described hazards to qanat and addresses the importance in the correct use of terminology for geological hazards. All of the problems pointed out in Iran (subsidence, sinkholes, pollution) have, to me, an anthropogenic origin and cannot be directly ascribed to qanat. Eventually, I present some additional elements to highlight the remarkable importance of qanat systems and their influence on the development of similar underground structures in many countries of the Mediterranean Basin. The Hassi R’Mel field, which is the largest gas field in Algeria, produces principally gas condensate. The produced gas and oil comes from four reservoirs of Triassic age (reservoir A, reservoir B, reservoir C, and the Lower Series). All the previous studies in this field focused only on the upper reservoirs (A, B, and C), which have shown an excellent petrophysical properties. However, due to the presence of shale facies as well as volcanic intrusions, the Lower Series reservoir has been less explored. Thus, our study is mainly focused on this Lower Series in order to find the best sandy levels. The aim of this paper was to determine the facies types in the area, their distribution in the southern area of the Hassi R’Mel gas field, and their depositional environment. The Triassic rocks in this field are divided into four formations. From the youngest to oldest, these are S4, Lower Shale, Horizon A, and the Lower Series. The Lower Series formation can be further divided into three members (shaly sandstone, andesite, and lower shale). The shaly sandstone member within the Lower Series is composed of four units that are present all over the study area with an important pinch-out toward the northern part. The depositional environment within the defined units is a braided fluvial system in the southern part that evolves into a meandering fluvial system toward the north. Thus, the study area is considered to be a transitional zone between two depositional systems. 相似文献

Outcrop-based facies analysis of the Proterozoic Basantpur Formation, Simla Group in the Lesser Himalaya was combined with the stromatolites morphometry and sea-level fluctuation to delineate the stages of carbonate ramp development. On this basis, a vertical profile depositional model (Basantpur type) has been developed. Facies associations and variation in the patterns of microbial growth along with the sea-level fluctuations have contributed to the identification of the development of a tide-influenced carbonate ramp. Different stromatolitic structures (mega-, macro- and microstructures) are documented in the dolomudstones and dolosiltstones along with fenestral structures and their depositional facies together with evidences of marine transgression which leads to development of carbonate ramp where inner-mid-outer-ramp subenvironments are recognised. The “Basantpur”-type model is therefore unique in that it deals with lateral facies variation due to shift in shore line along with fluctuations in accommodation space on a carbonate ramp owing to fluctuations of sea level. Synchrotron-based in situ angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted on a natural uvite-dominated tourmaline sample by using an external-heating diamond anvil cell at simultaneously high pressures and temperatures up to 18 GPa and 723 K, respectively. The angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction data reveal no indication of a structural phase transition over the P–T range of the current experiment in this study. The pressure–volume–temperature data were fitted by the high-temperature Birch–Murnaghan equation of state. Isothermal bulk modulus of K 0 = 96.6 (9) GPa, pressure derivative of the bulk modulus of \(K_{0}^{\prime } = 12.5 \;(4)\), thermal expansion coefficient of α 0 = 4.39 (27) × 10?5 K?1 and temperature derivative of the bulk modulus (?K/?T) P = ?0.009 (6) GPa K?1 were obtained. The axial thermoelastic properties were also obtained with K a0 = 139 (2) GPa, \(K_{a0}^{\prime }\) = 11.5 (7) and α a0 = 1.00 (11) × 10?5 K?1 for the a-axis, and K c0 = 59 (1) GPa, \(K_{c0}^{\prime }\) = 11.4 (5) and α c0 = 2.41 (24) × 10?5 K?1 for the c-axis. Both of axial compression and thermal expansion exhibit large anisotropic behavior. Thermoelastic parameters of tourmaline in this study were also compared with that of the other two ring silicates of beryl and cordierite. 相似文献

Gilgit-Baltistan region is covering the northern most part of Pakistan where the rocks of the Kohistan-Ladakh island arc and Karakoram plate are exposed. The area has greater potential for precious and base metals deposits which are needed to be explored through spectroscopy and remote sensing techniques. Minerals and rocks can nowadays be identified through the measurement of their absorption and reflectance features by spectroscopic analysis. Spectral reflectance analysis is also very important in selecting the appropriate spectral bands for remote-sensing data analysis of unknown or inaccessible areas. In this study, reflectance spectra in the spectral range of 0.35–2.5 μm of different types of unaltered and altered rocks found in the Machulu and Astor areas of northern Pakistan were obtained using an ASD spectroradiometer. The fresh rock samples showed low spectral reflectance as compared to the altered rock samples. The minerals jarosite, goethite, and hematite showed depth of absorption minima in the range of 0.4–1.15 μm due to the presence of iron (Fe), while jarosite and limonite showed absorption depth at 2.2 μm due to the presence of hydroxyl ions (OH¯). The clay minerals montmorillonite and illite showed absorption depth at 1.93 and 2.1 μm, respectively. Muscovite showed depth of absorption minima at 1.4 and 1.9 μm in some samples. Calcite showed deep absorption minima at 2.32 μm, while anorthite showed absorption features at 1.4, 1.9, 2.24, and 2.33 μm. Olivine showed a slight depressed absorption feature at 1.07 μm. The copper-bearing phases malachite, chrysocolla, and azurite showed, respectively, a broad absorption feature in the range of 0.6–0.9 μm, a small absorption at 1.4 μm, and a deep absorption at 1.93 μm. The unmineralized samples exhibited high reflectance in the wavelength ranges of 0.6–0.8, 1.6–1.9, 2.0–2.3, 2.1–2.25, and 2.4–2.5 μm, respectively, while the mineralized samples showed reflectance bands in the wavelength ranges of 0.4–0.6, 1.3–1.8, and 2.1–2.2 μm. On this basis, the band ratio combinations 7/5–4/3–6/3 and 7/5–6/3–4/3 of Landsat 8 and 4/7–4/3–2/1 for ASTER data were found to be very effective in the lithological differentiation of major rock units. 相似文献
