Natural Fe2+, Fe3+-bearing spinel solid solutions from the spinel s.s.-hercynite and gahnite-hercynite series were analyzed and studied by electronic absorption spectroscopy in the spectral range 30000–3500 cm–1 in the temperature and pressure ranges 77 TK 600 and 10–4 PGPa 11.0. Two crystals were light-violet in color (type I) and six green or bluish-green (type II). The spectra of both types of spinels are dominated by an UV-absorption edge near 28000 to 24000 cm–1, depending on the iron contents, and a very intense band system in the NIR centered around 5000 cm–1, which is caused by spin-allowed dd-transition of tetrahedral Fe2+, derived from 5 E5 T2. The strong band is in all spinels studied, split into four sub-bands, which can only be observed in very thin platelets. Between the UV-edge and the high-energy wing of the NIR-band there occur a number of very weak bands in type I spinels while the green type II spinels show some of these with significantly enhanced intensity. The intensity of the very weak bands is nearly independent from temperature. Such bands are attributed to spin-forbidden electronic transitions of IVFe2+. Temperature and pressure dependence of the intensity enhanced bands of spinels type II indicate that they are caused by IVFe2+ and VIFe3+. They are attributed to spin-forbidden transitions 6A1g4A1g, 4Eg, 4T2g and 4T1g of VIFe3+, the two latter being strongly intensified by exchange-coupling interaction with adjacent IVFe2+. The pressure dependence of IVFe2+ dd-band system in the NIR caused by spin-allowed 5 E5 T2 transition noticeably differs from that of octahedral Fe2+, an effect which is attributed to a dynamic Jahn-Teller effect of IVFe2+ in the spinel structure.

The age of intraplate volcanism in northern Pannonian Basin of Carpathians is revisited using a combination of zircon U/Pb, zircon (U–Th)/He and apatite (U–Th)/He dating techniques, complemented by electron microprobe (EMP) characterisation of dated minerals. A total of six maar structures and diatremes in the South-Slovakian Volcanic Field (SSVF) were dated and the obtained new ages yielded the following key findings: Two isolated maars in SE part indirectly dated by geomorphologic constraints to Late Pleistocene are actually of Pliocene (2.8 ± 0.2 Ma) and Late Miocene (5.5 ± 0.6 Ma) ages. In contrast, two maars in NW part of the study area are of Late Pliocene age (4.1 ± 0.4 and 5.2–5.4 Ma), younger than the Late Miocene age (~6.5 Ma) inferred previously from K/Ar data on the proximal basaltic lava flows. These maars therefore belong to the second volcanic phase that was previously identified only in SE part of the SSVF. In the light of the new geochronologic data, it seems likely that the Pliocene phreatomagmatic eruptions may have occurred along extension-related, NW- and NE-trending orthogonal faults. EMP analyses and imaging revealed an extensive syn- and post-growth metasomatic replacement by dissolution-reprecipitation in the majority of zircons. Abundant silicate melt inclusions in porous metasomatised parts of the zircons are diagnostic of magmatic rather than hydrothermal metasomatism. Consistent ages of the metasomatised and non-metasomatised zones do not indicate disturbance of the U–Pb system during the metasomatism. Enrichment in U and Th loss in the metasomatised zircons are diagnostic of an increasing oxygen fugacity triggered by degassing of the volatile residual melt during the final stages of alkali basalt fractionation. Rare zircon-to-baddeleyite transformation was probably connected with lowered silica activity in carbonated basaltic magmas in south-eastern part of the study area.  相似文献

Controlling factors for the occurrence of littoral macrophyte species were investigated in Lipno Reservoir (area: 46.5 km2; zmean: 6.6 m; zmax: 22 m; water residence time: 0.6 yr), a dam impoundment with moderately fluctuating water level (amplitude up to 4 m) which is used for hydropower and downstream flow augmentation. The options of supporting littoral macrophyte growth for improving the reservoir's ecological potential were evaluated according to the European Water Framework Directive's definitions. Macrophytes were examined at 115 sites, each 50 m long, along the whole reservoir perimeter at regular 1 km intervals. Sites were surveyed for their phytocoenology, shore morphometry, pedological characteristics of substrate, transparency of water, and anthropogenic impacts. Most of the sites were characterised by a wide eulittoral zone with a tenuous cover of terrestrial hydrophilic, amphibious, and/or emergent macrophytes and a low proportion of silt, clay, and organic fractions in the substrate. Infralittoral submerged and floating-leaved macrophytes were restricted to a few sites within the mouths of the main and side tributaries where transparency was maintained by clear inflow water independent of reservoir pool fluctuations. Water transparency was low (1-2 m) compared to annual changes of water level (2 to >3 m). Multivariate statistical analysis (DCA, CCA) confirmed relationships between the occurrence of macrophyte species and morphological and substrate characteristics of the shore. Improvement of macrophyte cover and establishment of vital infralittoral zones requires improvements in water transparency and changes in reservoir operation, i.e., limiting the range of water level fluctuation to less than ca. 1 m.  相似文献

More than 50 000 tons of CO2 have been injected at Ketzin into the Stuttgart Formation, a saline aquifer, at approximately 620 m depth, as of summer 2011. We present here results from the 1st repeat 3D seismic survey that was performed at the site in autumn 2009, after about 22 000 tons of CO2 had been injected. We show here that rather complex time‐lapse signatures of this CO2 can be clearly observed within a radius of about 300 m from the injection well. The highly irregular amplitude response within this radius is attributed to the heterogeneity of the injection reservoir. Time delays to a reflection below the injection level are also observed. Petrophysical measurements on core samples and geophysical logging of CO2 saturation levels allow an estimate of the total amount of CO2 visible in the seismic data to be made. These estimates are somewhat lower than the actual amount of CO2 injected at the time of the survey and they are dependent upon the choice of a number of parameters. In spite of some uncertainty, the close agreement between the amount injected and the amount observed is encouraging for quantitative monitoring of a CO2 storage site using seismic methods.  相似文献

The purpose of this work is to select the optimal spectral decomposition (SD) method for channel detection in the Miocene strata of the Carpathian Fordeep, SE Poland. For analysis, two spectral decomposition algorithms were tested on 3D seismic data: the first, based on Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and second, on Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (CEEMD). Additionally the results of instantaneous frequency (IF) were compared with the results of peak frequency (PF) computed after the CEEMD. Both algorithms of SD enabled us to interpret channels, but the results are marginally different, i.e. the FFT shows more coarse, linear structures, that are desirable for channel interpretation, whereas the CEEMD does not highlight these structures as clearly and shows more, what the authors believe to be, noise.  相似文献

The biome model of Prentice et al. (1992a) is used to predict global patterns of potential natural plant formations, or biomes, from climatologies simulated by ECHAM, a model used for climate simulations at the Max-Planck-Institut fur Meteorologie. This study is undertaken in order to show the advantage of this biome model in diagnosing the performance of a climate model and assessing effects of past and future climate changes predicted by a climate model. Good overall agreement is found between global patterns of biomes computed from observed and simulated data of present climate. But there are also major discrepancies indicated by a difference in biomes in Australia, in the Kalahari Desert, and in the Middle West of North America. These discrepancies can be traced back to failures in simulated rainfall as well as summer or winter temperatures. Global patterns of biomes computed from an ice age simulation reveal that North America, Europe, and Siberia should have been covered largely by tundra and taiga, whereas only small differences are seen for the tropical rain forests. A potential northeast shift of biomes is expected from a simulation with enhanced C02 concentration according to the IPCC Scenario A. Little change is seen in the tropical rain forest and the Sahara. Since the biome model used is not capable of predicting changes in vegetation patterns due to a rapid climate change, the latter simulation has to be taken as a prediction of changes in conditions favourable for the existence of certain biomes, not as a prediction of a future distribution of biomes.[/ab]  相似文献

Secondary aerosol formation was studied at Allahabad in the Indo-Gangetic region during a field campaign called Land Campaign-II in December 2004 (northern winter). Regional source locations of the ionic species in PM10 were identified by using Potential Source Contribution Function (PSCF analysis). On an average, the concentration of water soluble inorganic ions (sum of anions and cations) was 63.2 μgm−3. Amongst the water soluble ions, average NO3 concentration was the highest (25.0 μgm−3) followed by SO42− (15.8 μgm−3) and NH4+ (13.8 μgm−3) concentrations. These species, contributed 87% of the total mass of water soluble species, indicating that most of the water soluble PM10 was composed of NH4NO3 and (NH4)2SO4/NH4HSO4 or (NH4)3H(SO4)2 particles. Further, the concentrations of SO42−, NO3, and NH4+ aerosols increased at high relative humidity levels up to the deliquescence point (∼63% RH) for salts of these species suggesting that high humidity levels favor the conversion and partitioning of gaseous SO2, NOx, and NH3 to their aerosol phase. Additionally, lowering of ambient temperature as the winter progressed also resulted in an increase of NO3 and NH4+ concentrations, probably due to the semi volatile nature of ammonium nitrate. PSCF analysis identified regions along the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) including Northern and Central Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Northern Pakistan, and parts of Rajasthan as source regions of airborne nitrate. Similar source regions, along with Northeastern Madhya Pradesh were identified for sulfate.  相似文献

The 2003 Ml = 5.4 Rambervillers earthquake, north-east of France, is the largest seismic event recorded north of the Alps since the 1992 Ms = 5.3, I0 = VII, Roermond earthquake, Netherlands. With a maximum macroseismic intensity of VI-VII EMS-98, the 2003 event was broadly felt to a distance of 300 km from the epicentre. It provides a unique opportunity to test and compare the different procedures used in France, Germany and Switzerland when evaluating macroseismic intensities. The main purpose of this paper is to present a common transfrontier macroseismic map based on the EMS-98 intensity scale. Maximum horizontal accelerations recorded in the area are compared to the intensity values, and we propose to use a differential technique to re-estimate the magnitude of the 1682 Remiremont, I0 = VIII, earthquake, which occurred 40 km south of Rambervillers.  相似文献

The spread of a passive contaminant in an open-channel reach is considered with use of a two-dimensional advection-diffusion equation with the included off-diagonal dispersion coefficients. This paper presents the calculation of truncation errors, namely numerical diffusion and numerical dispersion for various finite difference schemes. The accuracy of the considered finite-difference approximations is analysed by deriving and studying the relevant modified partial differential equation.  相似文献

The paper contains an analysis of S-velocity distribution in the crust and upper mantle beneath the Bohemian Massif, which is the second biggest Variscan outcrop in Europe. It occupies mainly the west part of Czech Republic and also part of south-west Poland and south-east Germany. We use data from 10 permanent stations set in the region. Some previous papers relate to the same scope but use linear methods to inverse receiver function. Our new approach involves Monte Carlo techniques for inversion procedure, which is more convenient and robust for such a non-linear task. The result of Monte Carlo inversion is compared with the previously achieved one. The obtained Moho depths vary from 29 km in the north-west part of the Bohemian Massif to 38 km in the south and south-east and are consistent with other papers. Some discrepancies occur in the middle and upper crust.  相似文献
