Simultaneous observations of the nightgiow emission profiles of O2(1Δ) and the OH Meinel bands have been used to show that the excitation mechanism for O2(1Δ) in the night-time is through the reaction between OH1 and atomic oxygen and the recombination of atomic oxygen. These reactions, and the proposed rate constants, have been used to derive the atomic oxygen profile appropriate to the observations. It is suggested that the atomic oxygen profile may exhibit significant structure near the mesopause at high latitude. It is also suggested that the extent of this structure may be influenced by transport effects related to stratospheric warming events.  相似文献

It is proposed that the available measurements of the O2(b1Σg+ ?X3Σg?) atmospheric bands both in the nightglow and in the laboratory indicate that the excitation mechanism is a two-step process rather than the direct three body recombination of atomic oxygen. It is shown that such a two-step mechanism can explain observations of the atmospheric bands both in altitude and intensity.  相似文献

As the saturnian magnetoplasma sweeps past Enceladus, it experiences both a decrease in electron content and sharp slowdown in the northern hemisphere region within ~5 Enceladus Radii (Re). This slowdown is observed by Cassini in regions not obviously associated with the southern directed plume-originating ions. We suggest herein that the decrease in northern hemisphere electron content and plasma slowdown could both be related to the presence of fine dust grains that are being accelerated by the Lorentz force created within the saturnian magnetic field system.  相似文献

This paper discusses the influence of sedimentary environment and geological setting on geotechnical and physical properties of resulting sedimentary deposits. For this study, two different geological settings were considered, one is a river-fed and the other is a glacier-fed sedimentary environment. For both sedimentary environments, various geotechnical properties were considered and compared. These include plasticity, activity, compressibility, undrained shear strength and sensitivity. Results indicate that physical and geotechnical properties of sediments deposited in these two settings are significantly different. These differences are then interpreted in terms of the various mechanisms involved in submarine slope failure initiation in river-fed versus glacier-fed sedimentary environments.  相似文献

Flowing fluid electrical conductivity (FFEC) logging is a hydrogeologic testing method that is usually conducted in an existing borehole. However, for the 2,500-m deep COSC-1 borehole, drilled at Åre, central Sweden, it was done within the drilling period during a scheduled 1-day break, thus having a negligible impact on the drilling schedule, yet providing important information on depths of hydraulically conductive zones and their transmissivities and salinities. This paper presents a reanalysis of this set of data together with a new FFEC logging data set obtained soon after drilling was completed, also over a period of 1 day, but with a different pumping rate and water-level drawdown. Their joint analysis not only results in better estimates of transmissivity and salinity in the conducting fractures intercepted by the borehole, but also yields the hydraulic head values of these fractures, an important piece of information for the understanding of hydraulic structure of the subsurface. Two additional FFEC logging tests were done about 1 year later, and are used to confirm and refine this analysis. Results show that from 250 to 2,000 m depths, there are seven distinct hydraulically conductive zones with different hydraulic heads and low transmissivity values. For the final test, conducted with a much smaller water-level drawdown, inflow ceased from some of the conductive zones, confirming that their hydraulic heads are below the hydraulic head measured in the wellbore under non-pumped conditions. The challenges accompanying 1-day FFEC logging are summarized, along with lessons learned in addressing them.  相似文献

滑坡危险性定量评估是滑坡风险评估中的关键和难点,也是当前国际风险管理研究中的热点问题.以滑坡密集分布的黑方台南塬为研究区,以32处典型滑坡为研究对象,依据多期三维数字高程模型(DEM),提出了一种基于强度的滑坡危险性定量评估技术方法.根据多期三维地形信息的解译及野外调查,编制多期滑坡分布图,计算滑坡活动的频率.利用GIS技术,利用滑坡体积与速度的乘积计算滑坡强度.将滑坡危险性定义为滑坡频率和滑坡强度的乘积,同时调查和分析了黑方台地区各类承灾体的类型、价值及其在相应滑坡强度下的易损性,在此基础上开展了单体滑坡风险评估和黑方台南塬滑坡风险区划.  相似文献

We present some preliminary results of a time-resolved spectroscopic study of the peculiar cataclysmic system AM CVn. The analysis of Hei lines profile variability, suggests the existence of a 1051 s periodicity. The close binary system Am CVn consists of two helium white dwarf stars in close orbit. Strong flickering in the optical light curve and the observed spin-up in the rotation period indicate that mass transfer takes place (Solheim et al., 1984). The optical spectrum shows broad helium absorption lines (Robinson and Faulkner, 1975) sometimes partly filled in by emission (Voikhanskaya, 1982). The optical spectrum shows no sign of hydrogen, and the line profiles are interpreted as due to an accretion disk of intermediate angle of inclination with a temperature of the order of 20.000 K (Robinson and Faulkner, 1975). Another possibility is direct accretion onto a magnetized BD white dwarf (Voikhanskaya, 1982). In the latter case a magnetic field B106 to 109 gauss is needed. Voikhanskaya also reports significant changes in the absorption line profiles from 1978 to 1980.Paper presented at the IAU Colloquium No. 93 on Cataclysmic Variables. The intensity distribution of the OH Meinel bands in the airglow has been derived from the minor constituent profiles of Moreels et al. (1977). It has been shown that there is good agreement between the observed and calculated intensity distribution for excitation through the hydrogen-ozone reaction and quenching of the excited state by reaction with atomic oxygen and through vibrational relaxation. The rate constants for vibrational relaxation have been derived and are found to be vibrational level dependent; for the ν = 7 level, the peak value, the rate constant is 5.8 × 10?12cm3s?1.  相似文献

 Debris lobes with characteristic lengths, widths, and thickness of 30–200 km, 2–10 km, and 10–50 m, respectively, represent the main building blocks of deep-sea fans along the Norwegian–Barents Sea continental margin. Their formation is closely related to the input of clay-rich sediments to the upper continental slope by glaciers during periods of maximum ice advance. It is likely that slide release was a consequence of an instability arising from high sedimentation rates on the upper continental slope.
