Aircraft measurements of O2(1Δg) emission made over a 10-yr period provide information on the variation of ozone with latitude and season in the altitude region 50–90 km. Between 50 and 70 km there appears to be little variation (< ± 25%) whereas the abundance between 80 and 90 km exhibits a large seasonal change north of 30°N and much less at lower latitude. At mid and high latitude the column abundance above ~ 80 km changes from ? 1 × 1014 cm?2 in summer to about 3 × 1014 cm?2 in winter. There are occasional enhancements in both the day and twilight airglow which almost always occur in association with auroral activity or, at least, where such activity is statistically most likely. These enhancements appear to reflect a corresponding increase in the ozone mixing ratio in the upper stratosphere. While the gradient in ozone mixing ratio with latitude is generally small at altitudes between 50 and 90km there are occasions when a temporary latitude structure can be seen, particularly above 80 km.  相似文献

When the local solar zenith angle, χL, is < 105° the 6300 A line is much stronger than expected on the basis of F region ionic recombination alone. Between 95 and 105° the additional intensity is quantitatively explained by production of O(1D) from photolysis of O2 in the Schumann-Runge continuum, (λλ 1300–1750 A) using current values for solar flux, atmospheric composition and quenching of O(1D) by N2. The Schumann-Runge (SR) component exhibits a large seasonal variation with a maximum in summer. We interpret this variation as implying a seasonal change in thermospheric O2 abundance; the change seems largely to reflect a variation in O2 density at the base of the diffusive regime although some contribution may come from changes in thermospheric temperature structure. Large changes in the SR component exist from day to day and with a 27 day period following a major magnetic storm. The photodissociation source becomes inadequate when xl < 95°; at 90° more than half of the intensity comes from still another source which we identify as local photoelectron excitation of O atoms.  相似文献

Measurements of the twilight enhancement of airglow emission from O+(2P) near 7325 Å reveal major changes which accompany geomagnetic activity, no significant distance between evening and morning and an increase in brightness paralleling the approach to solar maximum. The principal source for O+(2P) is direct photoionization from O(3P) but at low solar activity there appears to be a contribution from another source in early twilight which may be local photoelectron ionization into O+(2P). The geomagnetic and solar effects appear to reflect changes in the O and N2 density in the thermosphere; ground based twilight measurements of O+ emissions thus provide a simple means for monitoring thermospheric structure from 300 km to ~ 500 km at solar minimum and to ~600 km at solar maximum.  相似文献

We present moderate-resolution (lambda/delta lambda = 300 to 370) reflectance spectra of Mars from 2.04 to 2.44 micrometers that were obtained at UKIRT during the 1993 opposition. Seven narrow absorption features were detected and found to have a Mars origin. By comparison with solar and Mars atmospheric spectra, five of these features were attributed all or in part to Mars atmospheric CO2 or CO(2.052 +/- 0.003, 2.114 +/- 0.002, 2.150 +/- 0.003, 2.331 +/- 0.001, and 2.357 +/- 0.002 micrometers). Two of the bands (2.331 +/- 0.001 and 2.357 +/- 0.002 micrometers) appear to have widths and depths that are consistent with additional, nonatmospheric absorptions, although a solar contribution cannot be entirely ruled out. Two other weak bands centered at 2.278 +/- 0.002 and 2.296 +/- 0.002 micrometers may be at least partially mineralogic in origin. The data provide no conclusive identification of the mineralogy responsible for these absorption features. However, examination of terrestrial spectral libraries and previous moderate spectral resolution mineral studies indicates that the most likely origin of these features is either (bi)carbonate or (bi)sulfate anions in framework silicates or (Fe, Mg)-OH bonds in sheet silicates. If the bands are caused by phyllosilicate minerals, then an explanation must be found for the extremely narrow widths of the cation-OH features in the Mars spectra as compared to terrestrial minerals.  相似文献

Measurements of NH4, NO3, urea and HCO3 uptake using 15N and 13C stable isotope tracers were undertaken in Saldanha Bay, South Africa, between January 2012 and January 2013. These studies provide the first direct measurements of N utilisation by the plankton in the bay. Primary production in the bay is driven predominantly by the advection of nutrients from the neighbouring shelf environment during upwelling events, with terrestrial and other sources providing minor inputs. New production (NO3-based) was calculated from the f-ratio and total primary production and was used to provide estimates of potential carrying capacity for bivalve culture. Despite the apparent light limitation of NO3 uptake in the winter, the availability of NO3 appeared to exert the major influence on new production throughout the year. In addition, new production was modulated by NH4 availability as shown by the suppression of NO3 uptake by concentrations higher than 1?1.5?mmol m?3. The estimated areal new production of 0.60?g C m?2 d?1 yielded a bay-wide annual estimate of 9 811 t C ha?1 y?1, slightly higher than previous calculations based on physical models. It is estimated that the total annual production of mussels and oysters, respectively, for a 1 000-ha cultivation area is approximately 40 000–53 000 t y?1 (mainly Mytilus galloprovincialis) and 4 600–6 000 t y?1 (Crassotrea gigas). The combined total production figures constitute only 24–31% of the surplus new production. A combined harvestable carrying capacity of 74 000–82 000 t y?1 can be calculated from this surplus. However, from a management and ecological perspective, bivalve culture should be limited to well below this theoretical maximum. Even with this constraint, there appears to be considerable scope for expansion of bivalve farming over the modest, present levels with little jeopardy to ecological integrity.  相似文献

During the last sunspot maximum, major auroras occurred over Boston, MA (L = 3.1) on 23/24 March 1969 and 8/9 March 1970, during which optical and incoherent scatter radar measurements were made simultaneously from the Blue Hill Observatory and Millstone Field Station, respectively. The paper presents the results of these measurements and attempts a self-consistent interpretation of them. It is found that a major increase (5–10 times) in the abundance of molecular species (O2 and N2) at F-region heights must have occurred; this was not accompanied by any appreciable increase in the major neutral species, atomic oxygen. From the radar data, the energy input to the F-region can be separated into direct heating by secondary electrons, downward heat flow from the magnetosphere and a low-energy non-ionizing electron flux. The total observed intensity of the predominant optical emission from atomic oxygen at 6300 Å can then be predicted satisfactorily by summing the contributions to this emission from impact excitation by ambient electrons, from the low-energy precipitating electrons and from dissociative recombination.  相似文献

阿尔金索尔库里北山彩虹沟塔什达坂群卓阿布拉克组流纹岩锆石SHRIMP U-Pb 年龄为920±20Ma (MSWD=1.50),代表流纹岩的喷出时间。岩石的SiO2介于68.33%~70.60%,K2O>Na2O,K2O/Na2O平均值6.42,属弱过铝质(ACNK平均为1.25)钙碱性系列(σ平均为2.76),为一套典型的壳源流纹岩岩石系列。稀土元素含量高(平均为211.3×10-6),轻稀土富集(L/H平均为6.57),Eu亏损中等(δEu平均为0.30)。微量元素以富集Rb、Th、K、Zr,而相对亏损Ba、Sr、Eu、Ti、Nb、Ta为特征。岩石微量及稀土元素具有典型的板内火山岩特征,而岩石显著的低Sr特征(25.0×10-6~65.3×10-6,平均值为36.8×10-6))表明其并非源自加厚的地壳,而是起源于斜长石稳定的正常地壳。阿尔金流纹岩是由进入上地壳高位岩浆房的拉斑玄武岩浆的底侵作用直接使上地壳部分熔融,形成酸性火山岩的原始岩浆。该岩浆体系沿区域断裂构造体系上升,并经历了较强的结晶分异和演化,最终形成阿尔金索尔库里北山流纹岩系列。  相似文献
