Morphology and elliptically averaged luminosity profiles have been derived from CCD surface photometry of thirteen seyfert galaxies. ApparentV andI magnitudes,V-I colour index, as well as absolute Mv and MI magnitudes have been calculatedV andI luminosity profiles of Mk 10, Mk 79, Mk 358, Mk 618, Mk 352, and Mk 110, are adjusted by the usual model bulge plus disk with structural parameters comparable to those observed in normal spirals. The averaged luminosity profiles of Mk 50, Mk 124, Mk 348, and 3C227 are fitted byr –1/4 law with structural parameters similar to those observed in ellipticals and red compact galaxies. Mk 42 and NGC 985 show disturbed luminosity profiles.  相似文献

On the basis of the current knowledge about the size of the neutron, the nucleon-nucleon interaction, and the limit on the ratioGm/c 2 R<4/9 imposed by General Relativity, we find an upper limit of about 2M , for stars of uniform density in the neutron phase. The importance of an accurate determination of the neutron radius for neutron stars studies is pointed out.  相似文献

We present here new spectroscopic observations of Mrk 1040 and LEDA 212995 (Mrk 1040 companion) obtained with the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT). The intensity ratios and widths for the narrow emission lines found in LEDA 212995 are typical of H II regions. The red‐shift (0.0169 ± 0.00015) of the object derived from these emission lines is very close to the red‐shift of Mrk 1040 (z = 0.01665). The weak narrow and broad absorption lines were detected in the Hα wavelength band of LEDA 212995 spectra. These absorptions indicate that the companion might be at least partly obscured by Mrk 1040. This paper describes the analysis, design and characterization of a polarimetric receiver developed for covering the 35 to 47 GHz frequency band in the new instrument aimed at completing the ground-based Q-U-I Joint Tenerife Experiment. This experiment is designed to measure polarization in the Cosmic Microwave Background. The described high frequency instrument is a HEMT-based array composed of 29 pixels. A thorough analysis of the behaviour of the proposed receiver, based on electronic phase switching, is presented for a noise-like linearly polarized input signal, obtaining simultaneously I, Q and U Stokes parameters of the input signal. Wideband subsystems are designed, assembled and characterized for the polarimeter. Their performances are described showing appropriate results within the 35-to-47 GHz frequency band. Functionality tests are performed at room and cryogenic temperatures with adequate results for both temperature conditions, which validate the receiver concept and performance.  相似文献

From 2-D spectroscopy of the [O III] λλ 4959,5007 and [S III] λ 9069 lines we have studied the ionized gas-velocity field in the central regions of NGC 1068. The existence of a strong bipolar outflow of ionized gas is confirmed. The origin of this outflow, which is probably related to the active nucleus, is about 1.4″ NE of the optical nucleus; therefore, this region is a candidate to host the hidden nucleus of NGC 1068.  相似文献

Comparison of recent spectra by V. Motta et al. (V. Motta et al.: Astrophys. J. 574, 719–725) of two images of a distant gravitationally lensed quasar (z = 1.38) leads to an extinction curve of the lens galaxy (z = 0.83) showing clear evidence of a 2175A absorption feature. We compare these data with measured extinction curves from the Galaxy, LMC and SMC and with predictions from models. As it has been found by other authors in the Local Group galaxies we found that the SBS 0909 + 532 curve is compatible with three component models of classical spherical grains and PAHs. We note that apart from this standard point of view, the fits also admit an interpretation in terms of products of a biological origin involving three grain components.  相似文献

Las Tablas de Daimiel National Park is one of Spain's most representative groundwater‐dependent ecosystems. Under natural conditions, water inflows combined brackish surface water from River Gigüela with freshwater inputs from River Guadiana and the underlying aquifer. Since the mid‐1970s, aquifer overexploitation caused the desiccation of the wetlands and neighbouring springs. The National Park remained in precarious hydrological conditions for three decades, with the only exception of rapid floods due to extreme rainfall events and sporadic water transfers from other basins. In the late 2000s, a decrease in groundwater abstraction and an extraordinarily wet period reversed the trend. The aquifer experienced an unexpected recovery of groundwater levels (over 20 m in some areas), thus restoring groundwater discharge to springs and wetlands. The complex historical evolution of the water balance in this site has resulted in substantial changes in surface and groundwater quality. This becomes evident when comparing the pre‐1980 groundwater quality and the hydrochemical status in the wetland in two different periods, under “dry” and “wet” conditions. Although the system is close to full recovery from the groundwater‐level viewpoint, bouncing back in the major hydrochemical constituents has not yet been obtained. These still appear to evolve in response to the previous overexploitation state. Moreover, in some sectors, there are groundwater‐dependent ecosystems that remain different to those found in preoverexploitation times. The experience of Las Tablas de Damiel provides an observatory of long‐term changes in wetland water quality, demonstrating that the effects of aquifer overexploitation on aquatic ecosystems are more than a mere alteration of the water balance and that groundwater quality is the key to aquifer and aquatic ecosystem sustainability.  相似文献
