The crystallization age of Zhaunkar granites (829 ± 10 Ma) was determined by U–Pb zircon dating. Taking into account the data obtained earlier on the granite age (791 ± 7 Ma) in the Aktas Complex and the syenite age (673 ± 2 Ma) in the Karsakpai Complex, the Ulutau sialic massif is assumed to be composed of three igneous complexes formed during the Tonian–Cryogenian periods of the Neoproterozoic. 相似文献

Interadapted fields of main hydrophysical characteristics in the vicinity of hydrological sections carried out in 1997–1998 in the Barents Sea are obtained on the basis of model computations. The complex analysis of these materials and atmospheric situation in the region during 1997–1998 enabled to estimate quantitatively the variations of significant hydrodynamic conditions: the decrease in the inflow of rather warm and salty North Atlantic waters and the compensation inflow of polar waters, the decrease in total heat content and the weakening of water dynamics in the system of the general cyclonic circulation, and the increase in the ice coverage of the Barents Sea in anomalously cold winter 1997/98. It is revealed with a high degree of the confidence probability that the significant deviations from the normal conditions occur in response to the global El Niño disturbance which took place in the same years with the maximum values of the Southern Oscillation Index in January–March 1998. 相似文献

Geophysical well-log (bore-hole) data facilitate understanding of the physical properties of the subsurface formations as a function of depth measured in a well. In the present study, the wavelet transformation technique was applied to the well-log data of three wells in the Bombay High oil field, India, in order to identify depths to the tops of oil and/or gas formation zones (pay zones). Continuous wavelet transformation (CWT) was performed on gamma-ray, resistivity, neutron porosity and velocity log data sets in order to determine the space-localization of the oil and/or gas formation zones. The choice of a mother wavelet is important and largely depends on the data under investigation. We have applied a variety of wavelets to the different log data sets to not only identify the depths to the tops of formation zones, but also to determine the optimum wavelet that best characterizes the pay zones. On examination of scalogram plots of each log corresponding to each wavelet for their better resolution in identifying the formation boundaries, we have found that the scalograms corresponding to the Gaus1 wavelet appeared to give the best resolution in identifying the depths of pay zones in all the well-log data sets of all three wells. To further validate the above observation, a histogram analysis of CWT coefficients is made. This showed that, of all the wavelets considered for the present study, Gaus1 wavelet is the most appropriate and optimum for determining the space-localization of pay zones in all the well-log data sets considered in the present study. Zircons from the porphyry-like quartz-diorite boss of the Pebble Cu-Au-Mo deposit (southwest Alaska) have been examined. By
their appearance and internal structure (cathode luminescence and electron probing), the zircons have been subdivided into
four genetic groups: (1) xenogenic detrital (mainly rounded); (2) magmatogene (protolith crystal in the center and growth
zone at the edge); (3) hydrothermally altered (with new-formed regeneration edges in growth zones); (4) metamict-altered (unconsolidated
center of the crystal and sectoring in growth zones). Based on SHRIMP U-Pb dating for the principal heterogeneous elements
in every group, the following stages of ore formation have been identified for the Pebble deposit: (a) crystallization of
quartz diorite-porphyry bosses (95–92 Ma, the concordant age is 94.7 ± 1.5 Ma); (b) late magmatic metasomatic alterations
with copper-molybdenum mineralization (92–85 Ma, the concordant age is 90.15 ± 0.78 Ma); (c) postmagmatic argillization with
epithermal gold-sulfide mineralization (82–80 Ma, the concordant age is 82.9 ± 2.7 Ma). 相似文献

A baseline might be used as a point of reference to monitor change from some specific data without concern for whether the
baseline determination is natural or has been changed by human activity. We selected 326 sediment samples from Dexing area,
South China, and analyzed for 17 chemical elements. The geochemical baseline was predicted with the method of the normalization
procedure combined with the relative cumulative frequency curve. The results indicate Al was the best reference element for
the normalization procedure among four potential reference elements (Al, Fe, Ti, and Mn). The baseline value range obtained
from the normalization procedure method included both the regional geochemical background of the sediment and the median value
of the measured contents. The median value of baselines obtained from relative cumulative frequency method was lower than
that obtained from normalization procedure method. In contrast to the geochemical patterns of heavy metals in 1987, the spatial
distribution of anomalies sprawled in 2004 in study area, especially for Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, As, Fe, and Cr. 相似文献

The Pelona Schist, which forms the lower plate of the Vincent thrust in the San Gabriel Mountains of southern California, has undergone a complex history of folding. The youngest folds in the schist (style 2 folds) range in shape from open to tight and fold both compositional layering and schistosity. These are superposed upon isoclinal folds with axial-plane schistosity (style 1 folds) that, in turn, overprint older isoclinal folds (also called style 1 folds). Samples from the hinges of style 2 folds contain two generations of muscovite. Muscovites of the older generation are parallel to the folded (style 1) schistosity. The newer muscovites recrystallized during and/or after style 2 folding. Microprobe analysis indicates that the two generations of muscovite are very similar in composition, although the new muscovites tend to have slightly higher paragonite and celadonite contents than the old muscovites. From the gross similarity of the two groups of muscovite, it is concluded that the style 1 and style 2 folds were produced during a single progressive deformation. The slightly higher paragonite and celadonite contents of the new muscovites are thought to indicate that both pressure and temperature were increasing during the deformation. This is consistent with the deformation being due to underthrusting of the Pelona Schist beneath the upper plate of the Vincent thrust. 相似文献

In this paper we discuss the results of a swath bathymetric investigation of the Canary archipelago offshore area. These new
data indicate that volcanism is pervasive throughout the seafloor in the region, much more that would be suggested by the
islands. We have mapped tens of volcanic edifices between Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria and offshore Tenerife, La Gomera,
El Hierro and La Palma. Volcanic flows are present between Tenerife and La Gomera and salic necks dominate the eastern insular
slope of La Gomera. This bathymetry also supports land geologic studies that indicate that the oceanic archipelago has acquired
its present morphology in part by mass wasting, a consequence of the collapse of the volcanic edifices. In the younger islands,
Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro, the Quaternary (1.2 to 0.15 Ma) debris avalanches are readily recognizable and can be traced
offshore for distances measured in tens of km. Off the older islands, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and La Gomera
(<20 to 3.5 Ma), the avalanches have been obscured by subsequent turbidity current deposition and erosion as well as hemipelagic
processes. The failure offshore western Lanzarote is in the form of a ramp at the base of the insular slope bound on the seaward
side by a scarp. Its size and the lack of evidence of rotation along its landwards side precludes the possibility that it
is a slump. It probably represents a slide whose outer scarp is caused by break-up of the slide. Mounds on the ramp’s surface
may represent post-displacement volcanic structures or exotic blocks transported to their present locations by the slide.
The failures offshore Fuerteventura are so large that, although they occurred in the Miocene-Pliocene, exotic blocks displaced
from upslope are still recognizable in the insular margin morphology. The Canary Island insular margin appears to be a creation
of Miocene-Pliocene mass wasting and more recent turbidity current deposition and erosion, and hemilepagic deposition. Failures
offshore La Gomera are due to debris flows and/or turbidity currents. These events have obscured earlier mass wasting events.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of drought on grazing patterns of livestock in a communal rangeland in Namaqualand. Water points were the foci of almost all grazing routes even after the drought, and the areas away from the water points were less heavily utilized. The mountains could be regarded as key resource areas for livestock since the grazing intensity was higher in the elevated areas of the rangeland than on the surrounding low lying areas during and immediately after drought. Spatial patterns of resource use by livestock on the commons did not differ during the drought and post-drought period. The lengths of the daily grazing routes were similar for both periods. This may be a consequence of the weakness of animals during the drought when forage was scarce which prevented them from walking further. The size of home ranges of the herds did not change during the two monitoring periods. We attribute this to social reasons because herders try to avoid the mixing of herds. In the commons of Namaqualand, herders are also spatially constrained and this restricts their options to adapt to drought, and hence many animals died. 相似文献

An inflection in the rate of early mid-Holocene eustatic sea-level rise: A new sea-level curve from Singapore 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3

This study presents a sea-level curve from 9500 to 6500 cal BP for the farfield location of Singapore, on the Sunda Shelf in southeast Asia. The curve is based on more than 50 radiocarbon dates from elevations of +1.43 m to −15.09 m representing sea-level index points in intertidal mangrove and shallow marine sediments deposited by sea-level rise accompanying deglaciation. The results indicate that mean sea level rose rapidly from around −17 m at 9500 cal BP to around −3 m by 8000 cal BP. After this time, the data suggest (but do not unequivocally prove) that the rate of sea-rise slowed for a period of 300–500 years centred on 7700 cal BP, shortly after the cessation of meltwater input to the oceans from the northern hemisphere. Renewed sea-level rise amounting to 3–5 m began around 7400 cal BP and was complete by 7000 cal BP. The existence of an inflection in the rate of sea-level rise, with a slow-down centred on 7700 cal BP, is broadly consistent with other available sea-level curves over this interval and is supported by evidence of stable shorelines and delta initiation elsewhere at this time, as well as evidence of comparatively rapid retreat of the West Antarctic ice sheet beginning around 7500 cal BP. ‘Stepped’ sea-level rise occurring shortly after 7500 cal BP and also earlier during deglaciation may have served to focus significant post-glacial episodes of human maritime/coastal dispersal, into comparatively narrow time intervals. 相似文献
