We describe the design, optimization, electrical and optical tests of Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors (MKIDs) for the mm-wave range. Our detectors are based on a novel resonator design, and are suitable for ground-based astronomical observations in the 143 GHz atmospheric window. The measured optical Noise Equivalent Power (NEP) at 0.3 K is $\sim 10^{-16}~\text{W}/\sqrt{\rm Hz}$ under a 300 K background load. This is equivalent or better than the performance of the best current bolometric detectors for the 140 GHz atmospheric window, limited by atmospheric noise in the best available sites. We also describe which improvements can be introduced to reduce the NEP of our detector, for lower background applications (narrow band or space-based).  相似文献

A mathematical model to calculate soil heat flux in three steps is presented. In the first, an hourly air temperature based on the average daily temperature, using Fourier series coefficients is estimated. The estimated hourly air temperature constitutes an input variable for the second step of the model. In the second step, heat transfer principles, using the thermal properties of the soil in order to obtain a soil temperature profile in a 1-m-depth soil stratum, is applied. Finally, the results of the second stage are used to numerically calculate hourly heat flux in the soil. Correlation coefficients between observed and calculated hourly temperature values over the three summer months were 0.98, 0.97 and 0.96. Correlation coefficient for the entire study period between observed and estimated soil heat-flux values was 0.92 with a mean square error of 19.8 W m–2.  相似文献

Middle Ordovician acritarchs, including enigmatic, spore-like microfossils, are recorded from the Labrado and Capillas formations, of the Sierras Subandinas (Capillas River Section, Sierra de Zapla), northwestern Argentina. The Sierras Subandinas represent the outermost exposures of the Central Andean Basin that display an alternation of shallow-marine deltaic systems and estuarine environments, where relative sea-level fluctuations are frequent. The scarcity of fossils in the section, due to the marginal marine settings and frequent subaerial exposures, hinders the biostratigraphic constraining of these sedimentary successions. Based on the palynological assemblages, a probably Dapingian age is interpreted for the upper Lagunilla Member of the Labrado Formation, whereas the lower part of the Capillas Formation is assigned to the Darriwilian. Acritarchs from the lower part of the Capillas Formation indicate clear affinities with the “peri-Gondwana province”. However the lack of Frankea, a marker taxa for the Middle Ordovician, could be related either to the intermediate paleolatitudinal position of the Central Andean Basin or to local paleoenvironmental conditions. The facies analysis and the distribution of palynomorph assemblages throughout the studied section, suggest that organic-walled microfossils are influenced by local paleoenvironmental conditions. A probable non-marine origin is proposed for the spore-like microfossils co-occurring within the acritarch assemblages.  相似文献

The Lega Nord (Northern League) regionalist party, which has risen to prominence in Italy in recent years, has a specific geographical focus to its political project. This is premised essentially upon the protection of Northern Italian economic (and cultural) interests, however, this geographical focus has been modified during the Lega Nord's relatively short political history. This paper explores the reasons why there have been various shifts in geographical emphasis in the party's political rhetoric as well as the ways in which support for the Lega Nord has changed (or not) as a result of these changes. Interestingly, the latest shift in the Lega Nord's rhetoric has seen the party attempting to construct (and invent) a geography and an ethnicity for a place it calls 'Padania' (which roughly corresponds to North and Central Italy) that has never existed administratively or historically. However, as the paper argues, the Lega Nord's attempts to create a 'Padanian' political identity, have not been matched by any significant changes in its electoral geography.  相似文献

Hydrolysis constants of dimethyltin(IV) cation, in different salt solutions (CaCl2: 0.15 I 0.90; MgCl2: 0.30 I 0.60; NaCl-–NaClO4, NaCl-–NaNO3 mixtures: I = 3; NaCl-–Na2SO4 mixtures: I = 1 mol dm-3) were determined by potentiometric ([H+]-glass electrode) measurements. These data, together with previous data (De Stefano et al., 1996b) were interpreted in terms of DHT (Debye–Hückel type) and Pitzer equations. The mixed electrolyte solution results also allowed us to obtain and parameters for the Pitzer equation. Calorimetric measurements were made at different ionic strengths in order to find the temperature dependence of hydrolysis constants and of the relative interaction parameters. The body of results allows us to determine the speciation of natural waters in a wide range of ionic strengths and temperatures.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Levees are the most common structural solution to prevent flooding, reduce damage and generate benefits through more investment/economic activity in floodplain areas. While being relatively easy to build, levee effectiveness can be compromised by poor design and substandard construction methods and maintenance, thus increasing failure probability. Further, levees might increase societal vulnerability by instilling a sense of safety, the so-called “levee effect”. To cope with these phenomena, we develop a risk-based framework that quantifies residual risk under levee breaching and the levee effect, by disentangling its structural, dynamic and anthropic components, thus contributing to a better understanding of the phenomena at different spatial scales and the definition of flood risk policies. Through an illustrative example, we show how residual risk might become larger than under natural conditions, as function of the scale of interest, e.g. an area, a line at a given distance from the river, or a point within the floodplain.  相似文献

The structural phase transition in titanite is correlated with a strong temperature dependence of Raman scattering cross sections and, to a somewhat lesser extent, with shifts of the phonon frequencies. Their quantitative temperature evolution in the low-symmetry phase (P21/a) is compatible with a nearly 2D Ising behaviour with β≈0.12 and T c = 497 K. At temperatures above 860 K, the phonon signals agree with A 2/a symmetry but not in the temperature interval between 497 K and 860 K. In this temperature range new structural states give rise to additional phonon signals. A model based on mobile APBs between slabs of P21/a material, first proposed by van Heurck et al. (1991), is in qualitative agreement with our experimental observations.  相似文献

The stability of the climate-vegetation system in the northern high latitudesis analysed with three climate system models of different complexity: A comprehensive 3-dimensional model of the climate system, GENESIS-IBIS, and two Earth system models of intermediate complexity (EMICs), CLIMBER-2 andMoBidiC. The biogeophysical feedback in the latitudinal belt 60–70° N, although positive, is not strong enough to support multiple steady states: A unique equilibriumin the climate-vegetation system is simulated by all the models on a zonal scale for present-day climate and doubled CO2 climate.EMIC simulations with decreased insolation also reveal a unique steady state. However, the climate sensitivity to tree cover, TF, exhibits non-linear behaviour within the models. For GENESIS-IBIS and CLIMBER-2, TF islower for doubled CO2 climate than for present-day climate due to a shorter snow season and increased relative significance ofthe hydrological effect of forest cover. For the EMICs, TF is higher for low tree fraction than for high treefraction, mainly due to a time shift in spring snow melt in response to changes in tree cover. The climate sensitivity to tree coveris reduced when thermohaline circulation feedbacks are accounted for in the EMIC simulations. Simpler parameterizations of oceanic processes have opposite effects on TF: TF is lower in simulations with fixed SSTs and higher in simulations with mixed layer oceans. Experiments with transient CO2 forcing show climate and vegetation not in equilibrium in the northern high latitudes at the end of the 20thcentury. The delayed response of vegetation and accelerated global warming lead to rather abrupt changes in northern vegetation cover in the first halfof the 21st century, when vegetation cover changes at double the present day rate.  相似文献
