The western part of the Bohemian Massif has played an exceptional role in recent geodynamic activity of the region. It is characterised by repeated occurrences of earthquake swarms and by other manifestations of deep tectonic processes (CO 2 emissions, anomalous 3 He content, mineral waters, mofettes, etc.). The purpose of this paper is to introduce some other intraplate regions with earthquake swarm occurrence (French Massif Central; Colli Albani and Vulsini Mts., central Italy; Southern Apennines, Italy; the Danville and Long Valley regions, California; central Arkansas), and with artificially induced earthquake swarms (Larderello, Italy, geothermal field; Coso, California, geothermal field; NE Bavaria, Germany, deep drilling project). Although these areas represent different tectonic environments, the manifestations of recent geodynamic and/or man-made activity are similar in many aspects. This coincidence most probably issues from a common cause of both tectonic and artificially induced earthquake swarms – intrusions/injections of fluids. Since the regions with earthquake swarm occurrence of tectonic origin are situated as a rule in the close neighbourhood of Quaternary volcanoes, the intruding fluids seem to be derived from magma recently transported to upper crustal layers.  相似文献

Two seismic source studies usingteleseismic data are performed by Simulated Annealing(SA), a non-linear inversion method. The Very FastSimulated Annealing (VFSA) algorithm is used and onlyteleseismic data are inverted. We have designed a fastand efficient way of multiple direct problemevaluation, which is based on pre-calculating theelementary Green's function. During the process we setthe values of the inversion control parameters(temperature, number of iterations) and modified thecooling schedule. In the current version, theinversion seeks for the point source mechanism, thedepth of the source, the scalar moment and the sourcetime function (STF). The method is applied to twoearthquakes: 18 Nov. 1992 in Greece, M 5.9 and 14 Sep.1995 in Mexico, M7.3. The calculation is performed ona simple 1D model of the structure. For the firstearthquake the inversion recovered the solution fairlywell; for the second the solution was less acceptable.However, we do not consider this fact to be a failureof the method, but a consequence of an inadequatemodel of the source and of the medium structure. Acasual attempt of reliability determination was alsoperformed; the obtained values of errors arereasonable, except for a few cases when the methodfailed.  相似文献

Long-term (1961 – 1996) meteorological air temperature series together with the reconstructed ground surface temperature histories, obtained by inverting borehole temperature-depth profiles, were used to project regional patterns of the recent (climate) warming rate on the territory of the Czech Republic. The characteristic magnitude of the warming rate of 0.02 –0.03 K/yr was confirmed by the results of several years of monitoring the temperature in two experimental boreholes. The monitoring of shallow temperatures at depths of about 30 –40 m, i.e. below the reach of the seasonal surface temperature variations, can serve as an alternative tool of direct quantitative assessment of the present warming rate. The data also seem to sustain a potential man-made component contributing to the more pronounced recent warming rate observed in the areas of large agglomeration.  相似文献

The routine location of regional seismic events using data from the Czech National Seismological Network (CNSN) is based on Pn, Pg, Sn, Sg phases. A simple velocity model derived from Kárník's (1953) interpretation of an earthquake in Northern Hungary in 1951 has hitherto been used. At present, numerous local seismic networks record and locate local events, which are occasionally recorded at regional distances as well. Due to the relatively small dimensions of local networks, hypocenters (and origin times) determined by a local network might be considered as nearly exact from the point of view of regional-scale CNSN. The comparison of common locations performed by CNSN and by a local network enables us to estimate the accuracy of CNSN locations, as well as to optimize a simple velocity model. The joint interpretation of the CNSN bulletin and the catalogues of four local seismic networks WEBNET, OSTRAVA, KLADNO and LUBIN produced a new ID velocity model. The most frequent epicentral error in this model is less than 5 km, and most foci lie up to 15 km from the true position. The performed analysis indicates bimodal distribution of Sn residuals.  相似文献

The engineering community is aware of the importance of site effects, but it lags behind seismological studies when it comes to incorporating site effect considerations in design spectra for seismic norms. This lag is reflected in the conspicuous fact that current building codes make allowance for 1D site effects but ignore complex site effects. The purpose of this paper is to explore a way for including complex site effects in a building code environment. We take as example Eurocode 8, which is a modern code that exemplifies the current approach to site effect consideration. We examine the restrictions that we have imposed to make the problem of a feasible size and discuss the approach we have taken. We propose a strategy to incorporate a class of complex site effects in a design elastic spectrum.  相似文献

Summary The method of the automated computation of the gravimetric deflections of the vertical and of the geoidal heights for the European region is described. The work was carried out during the period 1986–1988 by the Topographic Service of the Czechoslovak Army. The computation applies to 20 sheets of the international map 1:1 000 000 (total area of =16c, =30c - see Fig. 1). The mean values of the free-air anomalies for each surface element =5, =7.5, approximately 9 × 9 km, were used with radius of integration of 300 km.  相似文献

Summary Some errors of method occurring in A. C. measurements of the electrical conductivity of rocks are discussed. It is demonstrated that the difference between A.C. and D.C. conductivities, at given frequency, depends mostly on the magnitude of the D.C. conductivity and magnitude of the dielectric constant.  相似文献

Summary The results of an objective weather categorization are presented. The 9 meteorological variables recorded daily during winter seasons of 1961–66 at Prague-Clementinum represent the input dataset. The principal component analysis and a few clustering procedures have been evaluated. 5 component solution and the average linkage clustering method were found optimal. The winter days have been grouped, according to their meteorological character, into 14 clusters. The warm categories represent 20% of the time and the cold categories less than 15% of the days. The mean maps of 1000 hPa and 500 hPa are shown for a few selected categories. Clustering techniques applied to long-time instrumental series can provide a better basis for attempting to detect temperature changes which have taken place over a long time span.  相似文献

Summary With the aid of 36 monthly and a double 12-month running average, graphs of the smoothed run of geomagnetic activity were constructed from the monthly values of the geomagnetic activity index aa for the period 1868–1978 and they were then used to determine the run of the geomagnetic activity, expressed during a uniform period and devoid of the secular variation of geomagnetic activity, for the individual 11-year cycles Nos 12–20 and the average runs for even and odd cycles, as well as for the whole period of the 9 cycles. The analysis and comparison of the graphs substantiates and renders more accurate the tendency, observed earlier, towards a regular alternation of geomagnetic activity cycles with double and single maxima. Wheareas a saddle-like shape with a maximum in the neighbourhood of the first and third quarter of the cycle is characteristic of the shape of the even cycle, the second maximum being, as a rule, the main one, the odd cycle is characterized by a peak-like shape with the main maximum in the vicinity of the cycle's centre.  相似文献
