Abstract During the Labrador Ice Margin Experiments, LIMEX ‘87 in March 1987 and LIMEX ‘89 in March and April 1989, the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) CV‐580 aircraft collected synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image data over the marginal ice zone off the east coast of Newfoundland, Canada. One aspect of these experimental programs was the observation of ocean waves penetrating into the marginal ice zone (MIZ). Based upon directional wavenumber spectra derived from SAR image data, the wave attenuation rate is estimated using SAR image spectra and compared with predictions from a model developed by Liu and Mollo‐Christensen (1988). The wave and ice conditions were considerably different in LIMEX ‘87 and LIMEX ‘89. However, the model‐data comparisons are very good for all ice conditions observed. Both the model and the SAR‐derived wave attenuation rates show a characteristic roll‐over at high wavenumbers. A model for the eddy viscosity is proposed, using dimensional analysis, as a simple function of ice roughness and wave‐induced velocity. Eddy viscosities derived from SAR and wave buoy data for the wave attenuation rate show a trend that is consistent with the proposed model. 相似文献

Vertical shafts of 137 cm diameter were excavated to measure creep deformations of carbonate shale, weathered limestone and tuff. Changes of diameter at successive time intervals were recorded under constant, radial pressure. Three typical models were chosen for a regression analysis of the experimental data and their fitness were compared to one another in a statistical approach.The introduction of a steady state flow term improves the data fit considerably, and the power law was found to yield an even better result. It was also determined that rock masses in the field contain numerous discontinuities which increase the plasticity of the three types of rock tested. 本文用热释光测年和地球化学标志法研究了莱州湾地区沉积环境的变化。石英的375℃热释光峰作为测年基础。岩芯样品的测定结果、反映了自全新世(1.2万年)至晚更新世(11万年)地层的年代特点。实验中来用了Sr/Ba、Rb、Mn/Fe和CaO作为地球化学标志,所得数据经Sheppard方程和Fisher判别处理。在得到的沉积环境变化曲线和大洋δ~(18)O曲线对比中可以看出,本区在十万年以来出现过三次海陆相地层变化序列,其中在距今11—7万年和深度为43.5—60m处,在距今4.6—2.1万年和深度为23—35m处,以及在距今1.1—0.6万年和深度为8—11m处出现过三次海相地层,分别与沧州、献县和黄骅海侵事件相应,并同时受到全球气候变化的控制。 相似文献

Alfvén waves are generated easily in many cosmic plasmas, but they possess no linear damping mechanism since they are not compressive. The most prominent nonlinear damping occurs when one Alfvén wave decays into another plus a slow magnetosonic wave, or two Alfvén waves combine into one fast magnetosonic wave; the resulting magnetosonic waves can then be dissipated. The nonlinear coupling rates are presented, with special emphasis on the astrophysically important case of sound speed Alfvén speed. Streaming cosmic rays generate Alfvén waves moving in the direction of streaming, but they reabsorb the backward moving waves then produced by wave decay. The possible steady states for this system of cosmic rays and Alfvén waves turn out to be highly restricted.Supported by NSF grant GP-15218. 相似文献

We report the results of 1966, 1968, and 1969 polarization measurements of solar type III radio noise bursts made by recording the output of two orthogonally polarized receiving channels and subsequent digital processing of selected data. The processed data yield total intensity, degree of polarization, ellipticity, and polarization ellipse orientation at 1 second intervals. The measurements are made in a 100 Hz bandwith to minimize the influence of the propagating medium on the measurements. The mean degree of polarization was found to be about 65% in contrast to previous studies which indicated that type III events were more weakly polarized. By assuming that type III bursts are flare related we study the polarization characteristics of type III bursts as a function of the solar longitude of the related flares. The relation between type III event polarization characteristics and flare importance is also investigated. The significance of polarization measurements in studies of solar radio events is pointed out and suggestions for further theoretical research are given. 相似文献

东天山赤湖斑岩钼铜矿床的形成时代和成矿地质背景至今尚存在争议,前人根据同一成矿带中土屋-延东斑岩铜矿的同位素地质年龄信息,认为赤湖钼矿的形成时代为中-晚泥盆世,系塔里木板块北部活动陆缘泥盆纪岛弧火山-深成作用的产物;近期一些研究者根据赤湖斑岩钼铜矿区斜长花岗斑岩锆石U-Pb和谐曲线年龄,认为矿化斜长花岗斑岩的侵位时代为晚石炭世,成矿作用与哈萨克斯坦-准噶尔板块南部活动陆缘晚石炭世汇聚阶段钙碱性岩浆侵入作用有关.在前人研究基础上,笔者对赤湖斑岩钼铜矿区矿化斜长花岗斑岩体进行了锆石SHRIMP U-Pb定年研究,获得322Ma±10Ma(95%可信度)的年龄值,表明赤湖斑岩铜矿床的形成时代为晚石炭世,成矿作用与晚石炭世钙碱性岩浆浅成侵位有关. 相似文献

对位于华夏古陆东南部的广西云开地区大面积出露的晚前寒武纪变质杂岩中的主体花岗质片麻岩、中深变质的天堂山岩群石榴辉石岩和中浅变质的云开岩群洋中脊型变质基性火山岩(斜长角闪岩)进行了高精度锆石SHRIMP U-Pb定年.获得天堂山岩群石榴辉石岩的形成年龄为1894Ma±17Ma和1847Ma±59Ma,表明其时代为古元古代;云开岩群洋中脊型变质基性火山岩(斜长角闪岩)的喷发年龄为1462Ma±28Ma,证明该地区存在中(-新)元古代的古洋壳残片;获得花岗质片麻岩的侵入年龄为906Ma±24Ma,应为1000Ma前后发生的全球性Grenville期(四堡期)造山作用的产物,并获得2702Ma±13Ma的继承碎屑锆石年龄,这是云开地区乃至华夏古陆目前获得的最古老年龄,证明华夏古陆曾存在新太古代陆壳物质. 相似文献
