We have analyzed the H filtergrams and vector magnetograms of the active region NOAA 7070, in which a 3B/X3.3 flare occurred on February 27, 1992. The average area per sunspot of this active region was in declining phase at the time of the flare. The vector magnetograms indicate that the magnetic field was non-potential at the flaring site. Besides non-potentiality, the longitudinal field gradient was found to be the highest at the region showing initial H brightening. Further, in H filtergrams no appreciable change in the morphology of the filament tracing the magnetic neutral line was noticed in the post-flare stage. Also, the photospheric vector magnetograms show considerable shear in post-flare magnetic field of the active region. In this paper we present the observations and discuss the possible mechanism responsible for the 3B/X3.3 flare. 相似文献

Geodetic satellites have been providing the low frequency part of the geopotential models used for precise orbit determination purposes (e.g. JGM3, EGM96, …). Nevertheless they can be used to estimate the temporal variation of selected coefficients, helping to clarify the complex interrelations in the earth-ocean-atmosphere system. In this paper we present the two years long analysis of SLR data from the seven available geodetic satellites (Lageos I–II, Stella, Starlette, Ajisai, Etalon I–II) to recover monthly estimates of low degree geopotential coefficients; the results are obtained analysing the satellites separately and in proper combination. An accurate modelling of the satellite orbits is required in order to separate the geopotential coefficients: we assume as a priori geopotential the JGM3 model together with its associated tides and we take care of non-gravitational effects on the satellites by means of proper empirical estimated accelerations. The time series of the estimated coefficients (J2, J3, J4, J5) are inspected to detect the sub-annual perturbations related to seasonal variation of mass distribution. Huge residual seasonal signals in the orbit of Stella indicate a strong model deficiency related to the Sun's influence on the environment. The remaining six satellites are homogeneously modelled and build up a three cycles per year oscillation on J2 and a seasonal oscillation (1 year and six month periods) revealed on the J4. Abstract— Lunar meteorite Dar al Gani 262 (DG 262)—found in the Libyan part of the Sahara—is a mature, anorthositic regolith breccia with highland affinities. The origin from the Moon is undoubtedly indicated by its bulk chemical composition; radionuclide concentrations; noble gas, N, and O isotopic compositions; and petrographic features. Dar al Gani 262 is a typical anorthositic highland breccia similar in mineralogy and chemical composition to Queen Alexandra Range (QUE) 93069. About 52 vol% of the studied thin sections of Dar al Gani 262 consist of fine-grained(100 μm) constituents, and 48 vol% is mineral and lithic clasts and impact-melt veins. The most abundant clast types are feldspathic fine-grained to microporphyritic crystalline melt breccias (50.2 vol%; includes recrystallized melt breccias), whereas mafic crystalline melt breccias are extremely rare (1.4 vol%). Granulitic lithologies are 12.8 vol%, intragranularly recrystallized anorthosites and cataclastic anorthosites are 8.8 and 8.2 vol%, respectively, and (devitrified) glasses are 2.7 vol%. Impact-melt veins (5.5 vol% of the whole thin sections) cutting across the entire thin section were probably formed subsequent to the lithification process of the bulk rock at pressures below 20 GPa, because the bulk rock never experienced a higher peak shock pressure. Mafic crystalline melt breccias are very rare in Dar al Gani 262 and are similar in abundance to those in QUE 93069. The extremely low abundance of mafic components and the bulk composition may constrain possible areas of the Moon from which the breccia was derived. The source area of Dar al Gani 262 must be a highland terrain lacking significant mafic impact melts or mare components. On the basis of radionuclide activities, an irradiation position of DG 262 on the Moon at a depth of 55–85 g/cm3and a maximum transit time to Earth <0.15 Ma is suggested. Dar al Gani 262 contains high concentrations of solar-wind-implanted noble gases. The isotopic abundance ratio 40Ar/36Ar < 3 is characteristic of lunar soils. The terrestrial weathering of DG 262 is reflected by the occurrence of fractures filled with calcite and by high concentrations of Ca, Ba, Cs, Br, and As. There is also a large amount of terrestrial C and some N in the sample, which was released at low temperatures during stepped heating. High concentrations of Ni, Co, and Ir indicate a significant meteoritic component in the lunar surface regolith from which DG 262 was derived. 相似文献

It is argued that the formation of a dwarf galaxy causes a massive burst of star formation, resulting in the ejection of most of the available gas from the galaxy as a weakly collimated wind. The ejected gas can give rise to a damped Lyα absorber (DLA). Weakly collimated outflows naturally explain the asymmetric profiles seen in low-ionization absorption lines caused by heavy elements associated with DLAs, where absorption is strongest at one edge of the absorption feature. The shape of the distribution of column densities in the model agrees reasonably well with observations. In particular, the break in slope is caused by external photoionization of the wind. A semi-analytical model for galaxy formation is used to show that, for currently acceptable cosmological parameters, dwarf galaxy outflows can account for the majority of DLA systems and their distribution with redshift. This model also predicts a correlation between velocity structure and metallicity of DLA systems, in qualitative agreement with observations. DLAs do not require many large, rapidly rotating disc galaxies to have formed early on, as in other models for their origin. 相似文献

A full numerical solution is found for the effect of a strongly magnetic star on its accretion disc, for the case of magnetic buoyancy diffusion. As in the previously considered case of turbulent diffusion, the disc becomes disrupted when magnetic and viscous stresses become comparable. A magnetically induced temperature elevation leads to electron scattering opacity and radiation pressure becoming significant far from the stellar surface, with consequent viscous instability and vertical disruption of the disc. This, together with the previous turbulent case, suggests that such a disruption mechanism owing to strongly magnetic accretors is generally operable. 相似文献

We consider the destructive effects of encounters between binaries and red giant stars in the Galactic Centre. Such encounters may explain the observed depletion of luminous red giants within the central 0.2 pc of the galaxy. We consider encounters involving 2- and 8-M⊙ red giants, and thus span the range of stellar masses contributing to the most luminous red giants observed in the Galactic Centre. To explore the phase space of encounters thoroughly, we simulate 18 × 103 encounters using a modified four-body code in which the red giant core and components of the binary are treated as point masses, and where the envelope configuration is assumed to remain static throughout the encounter. We then rerun a small number of encounters with a smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) code to confirm the reliability of conclusions drawn from the four-body runs. We see two possible pathways to red giant destruction. A large fraction of encounters lead to the formation of common-envelope systems, where two compact objects (drawn from the red giant core and the components of the original binary) form a binary within a common gaseous envelope, whilst the third body is ejected. The destruction of the red giant will then follow when the envelope is ejected as the binary hardens. In a smaller number of encounters, the intruding binary passes through the star and ejects the red giant core from the envelope. The red giant envelope will then disperse on short time-scales. We compute the time-scales for both of these processes to occur in the Galactic Centre for a variety of binary populations. 相似文献

Geochronology of several Archaean rock units in the Slave Provinceestablishes a sequence of events which may be treated as a singletectonic cycle, approximately 75 m.y. in duration, leading tothe formation of a new crustal segment. The oldest rocks (2650m.y.) are basic metavolcanics with largely calc-alkaline characteristics.Metamorphic adjustment to greenschist facies conditions is largelyisochemical but departures from regular serial variation inalkalis are noted. Comparison with experimental studies suggeststhat the basalt-dacite volcanic association is probably theearly extrusive expression of the subcrustal processes whichled to the intrusion of calc-alkaline batholiths into the deformingvolcanic-sedimentary pile. Zircon U-Pb and whole rock Rb-Sr isochron ages of 26202640m.y. are recorded for the syn-kinematic quartz diorite batholithsand 25902610 m.y. for the major late-kinematic bodies.Pegmatitic adamellites (2575±25 m.y.) are the youngestplutonic units. Regional metamorphism of the andalusite-sillimanitefacies series reflects the relative unimportance of load pressurein the thin-crustal Kenoran deformation. Comparison of the resultsobtained by the three radiometric methods confirms that an intervalof over 100 m.y. may elapse between the time of emplacementof a given rock unit and the subsequent closure of the biotiteK-Ar system. Presented here are results from photometric analysis on broadband images taken of comet 21P/Giacobini‐Zinner from May 24, 2011 to October 24, 2011. As the parent body of the Draconids, a meteor shower known for outbursting, 21P was studied for its dust production activity, Afρ, focusing on how it changes with heliocentric distance. An expected increase in dust production with a decrease in heliocentric distance was observed. The comet went from heliocentric distance of 3.05 –1.77 AU during the observed time that corresponded to an apparent magnitude of 19.61 to 15.72 and Afρ of 16.48 cm to 284.17 cm. These values can be extrapolated to estimate a peak Afρ value at perihelion of 3824 cm. The images were obtained using a 0.5‐meter f/8.1 Ritchey‐Chrétien telescope located in Mayhill, New Mexico. 相似文献

The interior metric is matched with Vaidya exterior metric over the boundary. The model obeyed all the relevant physical and thermodynamic conditions.
