This is a crucial time in the history of astronomy with major all-sky surveying work being carried out in all spectral bands, as well as in astrometry. The results of this activity are advancing all fields of astrophysical research, from the investigation of exo-planetary systems to the study of the chemical evolution of the Universe. Full sky surveys are available from the radio domain to X-ray wavelengths but not in the ultraviolet range (UV). While large UV missions are currently under discussion within the astrophysical community and at the major Space Agencies, the efficient use of resources requires preparatory work that can fill the UV surveying gap. The satellite ionosondes in highly elliptical orbits are proposed to be used for the task of continuous monitoring of the Arctic ionosphere. The monitoring scheme with the ionosonde location aboard the Arktika-M satellites is presented. This study demonstrates a relationship between changes of magnetic susceptibility and microstructure developing in minerals of a magnetite‐bearing ore, experimentally shocked to pressures of 5, 10, 20, and 30 GPa. Shock‐induced effects on magnetic properties were quantified by bulk magnetic susceptibility measurements while shock‐induced microstructures were studied by high‐resolution scanning electron microscopy. Microstructural changes were compared between magnetite, quartz, amphibole, and biotite grains. In the 5 GPa sample, a sharp drop of magnetic susceptibility correlates with distinct fragmentation as well as with formation of shear bands and twins in magnetite. At 10 GPa, shear bands and twins in magnetite are accompanied by droplet‐shaped nanograins. In this shock pressure regime, quartz and amphibole still show intensive grain fragmentation. Twins in quartz and foam‐shaped, highly porous amphibole are formed at 20 and 30 GPa. The formation of porous minerals suggests that shock heating of these mineral grains resulted in localized temperature spikes. The identified shock‐induced features in magnetite strongly advise that variations in the bulk magnetic susceptibility result from cooperative grain fragmentation, plastic deformation and/or localized amorphization, and probably postshock annealing. In particular, the increasing shock heating at high pressures is assumed to be responsible for a partial defect annealing which we suggest to be responsible for the almost constant values of magnetic susceptibility above 10 GPa. 相似文献

The grain-size and mineral composition of the suspended particulate matter (SPM) of the Severnaya Dvina River mouth is studied,
as well as the content of several lithogenic elements in the SPM during the spring flood in May 2004. The data published on
the composition of the riverine SPM in the White Sea basin are very poor. The spring flood period when more than half of the
annual runoff is supplied from the river to the sea in a short time is understood more poorly. The report considers the comparison
results for the grain-size compositions of the SPM and the bottom sediments. The data of laser and hydraulic techniques of
the grain-size analysis are compared. The short-period variations of the SPM concentration and composition representing two
diurnal peaks of the tide level are studied. It is found that the SPM is mainly transferred during the spring flood as mineral
aggregates up to 40 μm diameter. The sandysilty fraction of the riverine SPM settles in the delta branches and channels, and
the bulk of the fine pelitic matter is supplied to the sea. The mineral and chemical composition of the Severnaya Dvina River
SPM is determined by the supply of substances from the drainage basin. This substance is subjected to intense mechanic separation
during the transfer to the sea. The key regularities of the formation of the mineral composition of the SPM during the flood
time are revealed. The effect of the grain-size composition of the SPM on the distribution of the minerals and elements studied

This study focuses on the response of lacustrine littoral chironomid communities to late glacial changes in limnological,
environmental and climate conditions in the Mediterranean context. Late glacial chironomid (Diptera: Chironomidae) assemblages,
organic petrography and geochemistry were analysed in a sediment core from the littoral zone of Lago dell’Accesa (Tuscany,
Italy), where the lake-level fluctuations and the vegetation history have been previously reconstructed. Comparison of the
chironomid stratigraphy to other proxies (pollen assemblages, organic petrography and geochemistry, lake-level) and regional
climate reconstruction suggested the predominant influence of lake-level changes on the littoral chironomid fauna. The main
lowering events that occurred during the Oldest and the Younger Dryas were followed by higher proportions of taxa typical
of littoral habitats. A complementary study of organic matter suggested the indirect impact of lake-level on the chironomids
through changes in humic status and habitat characteristics, such as the type of substrate and aquatic macrophyte development.
Several chironomid taxa, such as Glyptotendipes, Microtendipes and Cricotopus type patens, were identified as possible indicators of low lake-level in the late glacial records. Nevertheless, this study suggested
that parallel analyses of organic matter and chironomid assemblages may be needed to circumvent misinterpretation of littoral
chironomid assemblage stratigraphy. There was a weak response of the chironomid assemblages to small lake-level lowerings
that corresponded to the Older Dryas and Preboreal oscillations. A higher level of determination, e.g. to the species group
level, may be necessary to increase the sensibility of the indicators to lake-level changes. 相似文献

The macrozoobenthos was investigated at eight sites in the Aral Sea inshore zone and in the lower reaches of the Syrdaria river. In the sea, the benthos comprised bivalve molluscsSyndosmya segmentum Recluz andCerastoderma isthmicum Issel, gastropods fromCaspiohydrobia Starob., the polychaeteNereis diversicolor O.F. Müller and the crabRhithropanopeus harrisii tridentatus (Maitland). In the Syrdaria, MysidaeParamysis lacustris (Czern.) and GammaridaeDikerogammarus aralensis (Uljanin) were found. These taxa have not been recorded from the Sea since the 1970s. The total zoobenthos biomass and density varied between the investigated Sea areas from 92 to 582 g/m2 and from 1,600 to 39,000 ind./m2, respectively. Spatial and temporal salinity changes within the range 20–41 g/L did not affect macrozoobenthos composition and structure. The conclusion is that the benthic ecosystem of the Aral Sea was in a state of comparative stability from the middle of the 1980s to the middle of the 1990s. Analysis of the zoobenthos in the inshore zone is proposed as a convenient and accessible method for monitoring the status of the zoobenthos of the entire Aral Sea. 相似文献

Summary Parameterization schemes for single islands, island chains and archipelagos are described. It is shown that their utilization within the framework of a global tidal model leads not only to local peculiarities in the spatial structure of tidal characteristics, but also to cardinal restructuring of the tidal pattern far beyond the islands and an appreciable increase (about 0.5·1012W) of the global tidal energy dissipation. The latter is commensurable by the order of magnitude with the imbalance between estimates of tidal energy dissipation in the World Ocean as a whole and on the continental shelf.

Zusammenfassung Es werden parametrisierte Darstellungen von einzelnen Inseln, Inselketten und Inselgruppen beschrieben. Es wird gezeigt, daß ihre Anwendung bei einem globalen Gezeitenmodell nicht nur zu lokalen Besonderheiten in der geographischen Struktur der Gezeiten führt, sondern auch zur grundsätzlichen Restrukturierung des Gezeitenmusters weit über die Inseln hinaus und zu einer deutlichen Zunahme (etwa 0,5·1012 W) des globalen Gezeiten-Energieverlusts für die M2-Tide.
