Recent developments in hyperspectral remote sensing technologies enable acquisition of image with high spectral resolution, which is typical to the laboratory or in situ reflectance measurements. There has been an increasing interest in the utilization of in situ reference reflectance spectra for rapid and repeated mapping of various surface features. Here we examined the prospect of classifying airborne hyperspectral image using field reflectance spectra as the training data for crop mapping. Canopy level field reflectance measurements of some important agricultural crops, i.e. alfalfa, winter barley, winter rape, winter rye, and winter wheat collected during four consecutive growing seasons are used for the classification of a HyMAP image acquired for a separate location by (1) mixture tuned matched filtering (MTMF), (2) spectral feature fitting (SFF), and (3) spectral angle mapper (SAM) methods. In order to answer a general research question “what is the prospect of using independent reference reflectance spectra for image classification”, while focussing on the crop classification, the results indicate distinct aspects. On the one hand, field reflectance spectra of winter rape and alfalfa demonstrate excellent crop discrimination and spectral matching with the image across the growing seasons. On the other hand, significant spectral confusion detected among the winter barley, winter rye, and winter wheat rule out the possibility of existence of a meaningful spectral matching between field reflectance spectra and image. While supporting the current notion of “non-existence of characteristic reflectance spectral signatures for vegetation”, results indicate that there exist some crops whose spectral signatures are similar to characteristic spectral signatures with possibility of using them in image classification. 相似文献

Despite significant advances over the past decades, our understanding of drumlin formation and associated ice‐bed processes is still incomplete. In this paper, we present the integrated use of geomorphological, sedimentological and geophysical techniques as a powerful means to force a breakthrough towards solving the drumlin enigma. We report on investigations of the anatomy of the Pigeon Point drumlin, Clew Bay, Ireland. We found that the bulk of the landform, which displays a classical drumlin shape, consists of silty‐clayey diamicton showing evidence of deformation, hydrofracturing and comminution. The unit is interpreted as a sub‐glacial traction till/comminution till. The thin unit overlying this basal till consists of silty‐sandy diamicton, and is interpreted as a para‐glacially modified melt‐out till. The partly cemented third unit consists of stratified, massive to graded sands and gravels. Its contact with the sub‐glacial traction till consists of a series of concave shapes, which suggests that it was deposited in meltwater channels that flowed in sub‐glacial cavities and that cut laterally into the drumlin. We propose that highs in the undulating rockhead relief, as shown in the seismic profile, have provided nuclei which initiated drumlin formation. This idea is supported by the observation of local detached bedrock slabs that grade upwards into a comminution till. In the long profile, very high normalized induced polarization (IP) values form a wedge‐shape, which is interpreted as a set of conjugate thrusts, or a ‘pop‐up’ structure. The structure is positioned directly above one of the undulations in the bedrock, suggesting a direct relationship. The high values are thought to reflect the presence of pre‐existing clays, which were sheared into the till, thus forming linings in the thrust features. It is concluded that glacitectonic processes, notably differential bedrock weathering and thrusting, have played a key role in the formation of this drumlin. Recent accounts suggest that periglacial processes are unimportant for large-scale landscape evolution and that true large-scale periglacial landscapes are rare or non-existent. The lack of a large-scale topographical fingerprint due to periglacial processes may be considered of little relevance, as linear process-landscape development relationships rarely can be substantiated. Instead, periglacial landscapes may be classified in terms of specific landform associations. We propose “cryo-conditioning”, defined as the interaction of cryotic surface and subsurface thermal regimes and geomorphic processes, as an overarching concept linking landform and landscape evolution in cold regions. By focusing on the controls on processes, this concept circumvents scaling problems in interpreting long-term landscape evolution derived from short-term processes. It also contributes to an unambiguous conceptualization of periglacial geomorphology. We propose that the development of several key elements in the Norwegian geomorphic landscape can be explained in terms of cryo-conditioning. 相似文献

We review the post-glacial climate variability along the East Antarctic coastline using terrestrial and shallow marine geological records and compare these reconstructions with data from elsewhere. Nearly all East Antarctic records show a near-synchronous Early Holocene climate optimum (11.5–9 ka BP), coinciding with the deglaciation of currently ice-free regions and the optimum recorded in Antarctic ice and marine sediment cores. Shallow marine and coastal terrestrial climate anomalies appear to be out of phase after the Early Holocene warm period, and show complex regional patterns, but an overall trend of cooling in the terrestrial records. A Mid to Late Holocene warm period is present in many East Antarctic lake and shallow coastal marine records. Although there are some differences in the regional timing of this warm period, it typically occurs somewhere between 4.7 and 1 ka BP, which overlaps with a similar optimum found in Antarctic Peninsula terrestrial records. The differences in the timing of these sometimes abrupt warm events in different records and regions points to a number of mechanisms that we have yet to identify. Nearly all records show a neoglacial cooling from 2 ka BP onwards. There is no evidence along the East Antarctic coastline for an equivalent to the Northern Hemisphere Medieval Warm Period and there is only weak circumstantial evidence in a few places for a cool event crudely equivalent in time to the Northern Hemisphere's Little Ice Age. There is a need for well-dated, high resolution climate records in coastal East Antarctica and particularly in Terre Adélie, Dronning Maud Land and Enderby Land to fully understand the regional climate anomalies, the disparity between marine and terrestrial records, and to determine the significance of the heterogeneous temperature trends being measured in the Antarctic today. 相似文献

We analyzed speleothem calcite from the Oregon Caves National Monument, southwestern Oregon, to determine the preservation,
distribution, concentrations and sources of aliphatic lipid compounds preserved in the calcite. Maximum speleothem growth
rate occurs during interglaciations and minimum during glacial intervals. Concentrations of the total lipid compounds range
from 0.5 to 12.9 μg g−1. They increase at times of low speleothem growth rate, suggesting dilution, whereas the apparent accumulation rate of lipid
compounds tends to be highest during times of fastest speleothem growth rate. Such increased accumulation generally corresponds
to times of warm (interglacial) climate, suggesting either a greater source of organic materials during interglacial times
and/or greater efficiency of compound capture during more rapid calcite growth. Aliphatic lipid compounds include homologous
n-alkanoic acids, n-alkanols and methyl n-alkanoates and sterols with concentrations ranging from 0.3 to 7.8 μg g−1, 0.4 to 1.1 μg g−1, 0.5 to 9.6 μg g−1 and 0.1 to 2.7 μg g−1, respectively. Minor amounts of branched methyl n-alkanoates and dimethyl n-alkanedioates are also present. The high concentrations of methyl n-alkanoates are the result of esterification reactions of free fatty acids in alkaline solutions with high pH values associated
with the dripping cave waters. The distribution patterns and geochemical parameters and indices indicate that the major sources
of the aliphatic lipids involved leaching from higher plants and microbial residues derived from the soil zone above the cave
system. The estimated percentage of microbial inputs ranged from 42 to 90% of the total lipids and also showed an increase
in accumulation during warm climates. These well-preserved lipid compounds in speleothem calcite could be used as biomarkers

The Petroglyphs of Cheonjeon-ri in the area of Ulsan Metropolitan City in the southeastern part of the Republic of Korea represent outstanding cultural property of the country. The rock carvings—discovered about 40 years ago—provide valuable information on the life of the ancient people of different periods. In 1973, the petroglyphs were designated Korean National Treasure. Apparently, the petroglyphs have suffered damage from weathering such as loss of stone material, current detachment of stone material and deposits on the stone surface. The protection of this masterpiece of historic rock carving has become an important concern in the country. Geoscientific studies were carried out, targeted to stone analysis and to characterization and rating of weathering damage. The diagnostic studies combined laboratory analysis of representative unweathered and weathered stone material and in situ investigation by means of profile measurements at the carvings, mapping of weathering forms, ultrasonic measurements and rebound hardness measurements. Methodology and results of the material and damage diagnosis are presented. The results on type and extent of damage in combination with deduced risk prognosis reveal a considerable threat to the historical site of Cheonjeon-ri due to weathering and they indicate the need of intervention for monument preservation. 相似文献

昆阳磷矿是我国下寒武统黑色页岩中赋存的最大的磷块岩矿床。为了探讨磷块岩及上覆黑色页岩的源区性质及古海洋的氧化还原环境,本文对梅树村组中谊村段的磷块岩、石岩头段的黑色页岩以及筇竹寺组玉案山段的砂质黑色页岩的地层剖面进行了岩石地球化学研究。发现昆阳剖面磷矿区的下寒武统黑色页岩Th-Zr和Th-Y/Ho比值以及Y-Y/Ho比值与陆源碎屑物质更为接近,石岩头段黑色页岩样品的稀土元素总量平均为174×10-6,与大陆壳稀土总量的平均丰度基本一致。稀土配分模式也十分类似,说明陆源碎屑物质来源比海水自生来源占的比重更大。受陆源碎屑物质的影响,Ni/Co,V/Cr和V/(V+Ni)等氧化还原敏感元素比值并不能很好的指示古海洋的沉积环境。但石岩头段黑色页岩的氧化还原敏感元素相对大陆壳具有一定程度的富集,并且富集程度不强烈,Ce具有轻微的负异常,反映了黑色页岩可能形成于次氧化环境。 相似文献

A fully three-dimensional (3D) MHD model is applied to simulate the evolution of large-scale magnetic field in galaxies interacting
with the intra-cluster medium (ICM). As the model input we use a time dependent velocity field of gas clouds (HI) resulting
from 3D N-body sticky-particle model of a galaxy. These clouds are affected by ram pressure due to their rapid motion through
the ICM. The gas evolves in an analytically given gravitational potential which includes a dark matter halo, a disk, and a
bulge component. We found that due to the interaction with the ICM the resultant magnetic field correctly reproduces the observed
structures of the magnetic field forming peculiar spiral arms and magnetic features widely observed in cluster spiral galaxies.
