We consider the effects of the absorption of solar XUV radiation by the Earth's atmosphere that were observed in the solar images obtained with the TEREK-K telescope onboard the Coronas-I satellite in May–June 1994 at low solar activity and with the SPIRIT instrumentation onboard the Coronas-F satellite in October–November 2001 at maximum solar activity. The solar images were recorded during the satellite occultation: in the 175- and 304-A spectral ranges onboard Coronas-I with the TEREK-K telescope and in the 175-, 304-, and 8.42-A ranges onboard Coronas-F with the SPIRIT instrumentation. Based on the XUV solar images obtained during atmospheric sounding, apart from the total absorption, we can determine the direction of the atmospheric density gradient and study the local absorption variations with altitude on spatial scales of less than 1 km. The described method can significantly supplement the data obtained in studies of the upper atmosphere by the methods of mass spectrometry, incoherent radar scattering, and the drag of orbital spacecraft. 相似文献

A new approach to the problem of the formation of galaxy spiral structures having a rotating bar-like nucleus is offered. The process of disk formation due to matter accretion onto the disk is considered in terms of the solution of the key problem on the motion of the matter element in the equatorial plane of the galaxy in the corotation resonance region. It is shown that in the vicinity of unstable libration points high-density regions are formed, which elongate with time following the separatrix shape and forming thereby spiral arms. 相似文献

It has been shown that the main problems of the circuit theory of solar flares - unlikely huge current growth time and the origin of the current interruption - have been resolved considering the case of magnetic loop emergence and the correct application of Ohm's law. The generalized Ohm's law for solar flares is obtained. The conditions for flare energy release are as follows: large current value, > 1011 A, nonsteady-state character of the process, and the existence of a neutral component in a flare plasma. As an example, the coalescence of a flare loop and a filament is considered. It has been shown that the current dissipation has increased drastically as compared with that in a completely ionized plasma. The current dissipation provides effective Joule heating of the plasma and particle acceleration in a solar flare. The ion-atom collisions play the decisive role in the energy release process. As a result the flare loop resistance can grow by 8–10 orders of magnitude. For this we do not need the anomalous resistivity driven by small-scale plasma turbulence. The energy release emerging from the upper part of a flare loop stimulates powerful energy release from the chromospheric level. 相似文献

The plasma mechanism of radio emission in the coronas of late-type stars is shown to be considerably more efficient than that in the solar corona because of the high plasma temperature in their magnetic arches. This is attributable to an increase in the length of plasma-wave conversion into electromagnetic waves and a decrease in the optical depth of collisional wave absorption. Magnetic-arch filamentation results in a decrease in the intensity of the fundamental-tone radio emission and in the relative dominance of the second-harmonic radio emission. The efficiency of the fundamental-tone radio emission increases with plasma density in a coronal arch. A new phenomenon was found at the polar edge of the auroral oval in the postmidnight-morning sectors: field-aligned (FA) high-energy upward electron beams in the energy range 20–40 keV at altitudes about 3 RE, accompanied by bidirectional electron FA beams of keV energy. The beam intensity often reaches more than 0.5 · 103 electrons/s · sr · keV · cm2, and the beams are observed for a relatively long time (3 102–103 s), when the satellite at the apogee moves slowly in the ILAT-MLT frame. A qualitative scenario of the acceleration mechanism is proposed, according to which the satellite is within a region of bidirectional acceleration where a stochastic FA acceleration is accomplished by waves with fluctuating FA electric field components in both directions. 相似文献

To compare mm-wave and X-ray diagnostics of solar flare plasma, five flares observed in 1980–1991 in Metsähovi at 22 and 37 GHz and with GOES, SMM, and GRO are studied. The first impulsive peak of the mm-wave bursts under investigation coincides in time with hard X-ray emission. The second gradual component in mm-wave emission coincides with the maximum of the soft X-ray emission measure. The bremsstrahlung mm-wave radiation from hot chromospheric plasma and gyrosynchrotron radiation driven by common population of superthermal electrons are calculated. It is shown that for mm-wave events with the first peak intensity 100 s.f.u., the thermal bremsstrahlung is more important than the gyrosynchrotron emission. The total energy of fast electrons deduced from the first peak of mm-wave bursts is one to two orders of magnitude less than that determined from the hard X-ray emission in the approximation of a thick-target nonthermal model. That can testify in favour of the hybrid thermal/nonthermal model proposed by Holman and Benka (1992). The emission measure and the energy of evaporated plasma using both mm-wave and soft X-ray data are also determined. For events investigated here the energy of evaporated chromospheric plasma is larger than the total energy of fast electron beams. We have concluded that, for evaporation, additional energy release in the chromosphere is needed. The possibility of such energy release in the framework of an advanced circuit model for solar flares is discussed. 相似文献
