The concept of seismicity of fast tensile fracturing is introduced and supported by the results of shear and of combined shear and tensile displacements along a loaded stress concentrator. The seismicity of tensile fracturing is demonstrated by means of acoustic (elastic) signals obtained during tensile fracturing in physical models under load; the basic physical relations between the parameters characterizing the loaded medium, load conditions, shear and tensile displacements, and release of acoustic energy are presented. For determining the tensile-source component in earthquakes a procedure based on the construction of radiation patterns is suggested and submitted for discussion. The criteria for selecting earthquakes with possible shear-tensile source mechanisms are listed and discussed. The existence of such a combined seismic source is sought in two shallow earthquakes which occurred in southern Iran in March 1977. In general, the paper should be regarded as a proposal to utilize the radiation characteristics of a seismic source—with all their insufficiencies—as a quick and simple tool for seeking combined shear and tensile mechanisms of seismic energy release.  相似文献

Summary Some regularization approaches to downward heat flow continuation from the Earth's surface to the depth of interest are presented, provided the heat transfer is described by the homogeneous steady-state equation. The Fourier transform of horizontal coordinates is used and the relation between the regularization of the heat flow spectrum and the regularization of the heat flow in the spatial domain are discussed. The utilization of an a priori information about the subsurface heat flow is mentioned.

We present a study of atmospheric thermal structure of nine MIII giants located in the zone of a star formation region in the stellar Galactic bar. Vibrational temperatures of the layers of formation of δ, π and ε TiO molecular band systems have been determined spectroscopically. These temperatures have been associated to optical depths by use of an appropriate model atmospheres and in view of several T eff calibration scales. Significant temperature gradient in the upper atmospheric layers has been established.  相似文献

The Jezersko meteorite is a newly confirmed stony meteorite found in 1992 in the Karavanke mountains, Slovenia. The meteorite is moderately weathered (W2), indicating short terrestrial residence time. Chondrules in partially recrystallized matrix are clearly discernible but often fragmented and have mean diameter of 0.73 mm. The meteorite consists of homogeneous olivine (Fa19.4) and low‐Ca pyroxenes (Fs16.7Wo1.2), of which 34% are monoclinic, and minor plagioclase (Ab83An11Or6) and Ca‐pyroxene (Fs6Wo45.8). Troilite, kamacite, zoned taenite, tetrataenite, chromite, and metallic copper comprise about 16.5 vol% of the meteorite. Phosphates are represented by merrillite and minor chlorapatite. Undulatory extinction in some olivine grains and other shock indicators suggests weak shock metamorphism between stages S2 and S3. The bulk chemical composition generally corresponds to the mean H chondrite composition. Low siderophile element contents indicate the oxidized character of the Jezersko parent body. The temperatures recorded by two‐pyroxene, olivine‐chromite, and olivine‐orthopyroxene geothermometers are 854 °C, 737–787 °C, and 750 °C, respectively. Mg concentration profiles across orthopyroxenes and clinopyroxenes indicate relatively fast cooling at temperatures above 700 °C. A low cooling rate of 10 °C Myr?1 was obtained from metallographic data. Considering physical, chemical, and mineralogical properties, meteorite Jezersko was classified as an H4 S2(3) ordinary chondrite.  相似文献

Summary On the basis of the conservation of the Earth-Moon angular momentum, the period of the Earth's resonance rotation and Moon's revolution and the relation between tidal deceleration of the Earth's rotation and of the Moon's mean motion are derived theoretically. The comparison of the theoretical relation with the observed values indicates that a mechanism should exist which decreases the maximum principal moment of the Earth's inertia bydC/dt=–3.2×1029 kg· . m2 cy–1.
