The main argument against the idea that the intense radio emission observed from active regions on the Sun and flare stars is electron-cyclotron maser (ECM) radiation is that such radiation should be strongly absorbed in higher-lying layers where the condition for the cyclotron resonance at harmonics of the electron gyrofrequency is fulfilled. Cyclotron absorption lowers the efficiency of ECM radiation virtually to zero for a broad range of angles between the direction of propagation of the radiation and the magnetic field. Less severe absorption is possible only in narrow angular “windows” along (for ordinary and extraordinary waves) and perpendicular to (for ordinary waves) the magnetic field. However, the ECM radiation that is generated does not fall into these windows of transparency due to the kinematic conditions corresponding to coronal magnetic traps. We investigate the efficiency of induced scattering of ECM radiation on ions in the equilibrium plasma in the source. Under certain conditions, induced scattering leads to the formation of a condensate of ECM radiation with the direction of its wave vectors approximately along the magnetic field, enabling the escape of the radiation through windows of transparency. The most favorable conditions for this phenomenon are realized for ordinary waves. We estimate the optical depths of the sources of the ECM radiation to the scattering and the angular width of the condensate for ordinary and extraordinary waves for the cases of the flare radio emission of the star AD Leo and the sources of type I noise storms in the solar corona. In both cases, the polarization of the emergent radiation should correspond to the ordinary wave.  相似文献

The intensive agricultural and economic activities induce the increase of the risk of groundwater quality degradation through high groundwater pumping rates. The salinization and contamination are the main sources of this pollution, especially in coastal aquifers. The explanation of the origin of salinity for the shallow aquifer of Northern Sahel of Sfax was analysed by a chemical study of the groundwater main compounds. The partitioning of groundwaters into homogenous groups is undertaken by graphical techniques, including a Stiff pattern diagram, an expanded Durov diagram and several binary diagrams. The study indicates the presence of various salinization processes. In the recharge area, salinization is the result of dissolution/precipitation of the aquifer formation material (group I). The irrigation water return and the intensive pumping have been identified as major sources of salinization in the south by direct cation exchange and mixing reactions (groups II and III). The anomaly of high groundwater salinity observed near the Hazeg zone was explained by the presence of a seawater intrusion in this area. This hypothesis is related to the high chloride concentration, to the presence of inverse cation exchange reactions (group IV), and to the piezometric level inferior to sea level. Total metal concentrations in sediments from within Ensenada and El Sauzal Harbors are generally higher than at the mouths. Grain-size analyses suggested that this enrichment could be due to the presence of fine-grained sediments in the inner part of the harbors rather than to anthropogenic perturbations. The (Me/Al)(sample) ratios for Pb, Co, Ni and Fe were significantly higher for Ensenada Harbor relative to El Sauzal Harbor, whereas the ratios for Cd, Mn, Zn and Cu were statistically equivalent for both harbors. Calculated enrichment factors [EF(Me)=(Me/Al)(sample)/(Me/Al)(shale)] indicated that the metals showing slight enrichment were those associated with anthropogenic contamination (Pb, Zn), or probably related to primary productivity in the water column (Cd, Co). The levels of most of the metals were not greatly enriched, a consideration that is of the utmost importance when contamination issues are at stake.  相似文献

We analyze the properties of the electric-current distribution over the cross sections of fairly dense coronal magnetic flux tubes in which the plasma pressure exceeds the magnetic pressure, so that the equilibrium is maintained by the ambient magnetic field. If the plasma is fully ionized, the distributions of the longitudinal and azimuthal currents over the cross section of the loop have the same spatial scale as the pressure distribution. However, even a small number of neutral atoms in the corona (with a mass fraction of the order of 10?5, taking into account the partial ionization of helium) substantially modifies the current distribution over the tube cross section: in this case, a considerable fraction of the full current flowing along the tube is concentrated in a thin region near the axis with a radius of the order of (10?2–10?3)r 0 (where r 0 is the characteristic scale of the plasma-pressure distribution over the tube), thus forming a sort of a jet current. This comes about because the pattern of the conductivity anisotropy is substantially modified in the presence of ion-atom collisions in the magnetoactive plasma of the tube, and the Cowling conductivity dominates over the Hall and Pedersen conductivities. The high current density near the axis of the tube can ensure heating of the plasma to coronal temperatures via Joule dissipation.  相似文献

High-resolution spectroscopy and standard LTE analysis of 31 barium and normal red giants (Astron. Astrophys. 283, 1994, p. 937) shows a selective enhancement of Ba (+0.5 dex) in two stars. HR 3845 and HD 130386, relative to the standard star Vir. We do not overinterpret these enhancements due to possible errors in the equivalent widths or in the atmospheric parameters. The non-LTE analysis of BaII in the atmospheres of red (barium) giants shows that the corrections for the non-LTE effects is relatively small, reaching a maximum of –0.16 dex, therefore, the enhancement of barium had apparently another nature.  相似文献

Moderate dispersion (25-35 Å mm–1) spectra were obtained from two carbon stars, V Cyg and WZ Cas, in a wide range of wavelengths (3400-6800 Å) with the echelle-spectrometer, ZEBRA, of the 6 m telescope and two-dimensional photon-counting system. Spectral feature identification was carried out from 3850 to 6200 Å. Most of the bands are due to C2, SiC2, and CN, however, particularly in WZ Cas, moderate atomic lines of the iron peak and s-process elements are also found. WZ Cas is a so-called lithium star, however, we have found no evidence for a strong line of Li. The spectra of V Cyg contain an emission line of H.  相似文献

Changes in paleoecology and climate of northern Tunisia during the last 3000 years were reconstructed based on the flood history interpreted from a 172-cm sediment core of Lake Ichkeul (NW Tunisia). Seven wet/dry episodes were identified based on biological (ostracods, foraminifera and mollusks) and biotic indices (H and E index, species richness and abundance). These proxy-based environmental changes were supported by correspondence analyses (CAs) and ecophenotypic responses of the brackish taxon Cyprideis torosa in addition to a grain-size study. Two dry episodes were identified in the lower (EP1) and upper (EP7) parts of the core. These were marked by the dominance of the brackish ostracod C. torosa. High water salinity was indicated by the presence of the brackish ostracod Loxoconcha elliptica, the foraminifer Ammonia sp. and lagoonal mollusks. The occurrence of the freshwater ostracods Ilyocypris sp., Herpetocypris sp., Dawinula stevensoni and Limnocythere inopinata was associated with high species richness and ecophenotypic changes of C. torosa valves indicating lower salinity during three major wet episodes (EP2, EP4, and EP6). The ecological and environmental changes, occurring between 3050 and 50 cal. year BP, are most likely linked to an increase of fluvial inputs which are also recognized in several other Mediterranean lakes. The humid episodes were interrupted by two saline periods (EP3 and EP5) during which freshwater ostracod assemblages declined, diversity indices dropped to the lowest values, and fine-grained sediments became dominant. The top of the core is characterized by the remarkable dominance of L. elliptica coupled with C. torosa, the absence of freshwater ostracods, and the changes in grain-size sediment parameters which are most likely the result of anthropogenic activities. The changes in hydrochemistry and sedimentology were attributed to the deepening of the Bizerte navigation canal, main wadis damming, and Tinja sluice construction which mostly occurred in the XXth century.  相似文献

Quasi-periodic modulations of the microwave emission from solar outbursts at 37 GHz are studied based on 17 events observed in 1989–2000 at the Metsähovi Observatory. Low-frequency modulations with periods of ~5 min were found in approximately 90% of the observed microwave outbursts. The most likely origin of this modulation is modulation of the current flowing along a closed coronal magnetic loop due to the five-minute oscillations of the photospheric-convection velocity. In approximately 70% of the cases, oscillations with periods ~10 min were observed simultaneously with the five-minute oscillations in the same events. In 30% of the cases, simultaneous modulation of the microwave emission by three low-frequency signals with periods of 3, 5, and 10 min was observed. One possible origin of these “double” and “triple” modulations is parametric excitation of acoustic oscillations with periods of 10 and 3 min in a closed coronal magnetic loop as a result of coupling with the five-minute photospheric oscillations. This can occur when the period of the natural acoustic oscillations of the closed magnetic loop is about 10 min (the resonance condition). Since the ten-minute oscillations are excited more easily than the three-minute oscillations at the parametric instability, the latter are observed less frequently. For the same reason, the observed linewidth of the ten-minute oscillations is considerably greater than that of the three-minute oscillations.  相似文献
