The earliest surface environment of the Earth is reconstructed in accordance with the planetary formation theory. Formation of an atmosphere is an inevitable consequence of Earth's formation. The atmosphere near the close of accretion is composed of 200 300 bars of H2 and H2O, and several tens of bars of CO and CO2. Either by the blanketing effect of the proto-atmosphere or heating by large planetesimal impacts a magma ocean is formed during accretion. We can distinguish three stages for the thermal evolution of the magma ocean and proto-crust. Stage 0 is characterized by a super-liquidus (or completely molten) regime near the surface. At this stage the surface of the Earth is covered by a super-liquidus magma ocean. No chemical differentiation is expected during this stage. Once the energy flux released by planet formation decreases to the 200 W/m2 level the super-liquidus magma ocean then disappears within a time interval of 1 m.y. This is the transition from stage 0 to 1. Stage 1 is characterized by a partially molten magma ocean. In the magma ocean consisting of 20 30% partial melt, heat transport is controlled by melt-solid separation (a type of compositional convection) rather than thermal convection. Chemical differentiation of the mantle mainly occurs in this stage. Once the energy flux drops to the 160 W/m2 level, more than 90% of water vapor in the proto-atmosphere condense to form the proto-oceans. Several tens of bars of CO and CO2 remain in the atmosphere just after formation of the oceans. Water oceans are occasionally evaporated by large impacts. After each such event, recondensation of the ocean takes several hundred years. Although the surface is covered by a chilled proto-crust, it is short-lived because of extensive volcanic resurfacing activity as well as meteorite impacts resurfacing. This stage ends when the energy flux drops to 0.1 1 W/m2 level. The duration time of stage 1 is estimated to be several hundred million years (the best estimate is about 400 m.y.). Stage 2 is characterized by solid state convection. This stage continues to the present day. One of the most important change on the proto-Earth is the transition from stage 1 to 2, which occurs several hundred million years after the Earth formation. A three-dimensional formulation based on Green's functions of cylindrical loads in layered semi-infinite media is employed to investigate the dynamic behaviour of piles in homogeneous and non-homogeneous half spaces. The pile-soil-pile interaction taking place in pile groups is incorporated in the model. The results presented in this paper include the dynamic stiffnesses and dampings of single piles as well as those of representative 2 × 2 and 4 × 4 square pile groups in the soil media considered in this study. The general features of elastic-plastic response spectra for several accelerograms that are widely used for the design buildings in Japan were studied in terms of the effects of the different hysteretic models used in the analyses. Lare fluctuations existed in the spectra for both input ground motion and the different models. The models were classified according to their strain energy-absorbing capacities in three groups, within each of which the relevant nature of elastic-plastic responses of the structures were similar. Finally, empirical formulae with which to estimate two measures structural damage, the ductility factors and cumulative plastic displacement normalized by the yielding displacement, wer developed for each group of hysteretic models. 相似文献

The Hidaka Metamorphic Belt is a well-known example of island-arc crustal section, in which metamorphic grade increases westwards from unmetamorphosed sediment up to granulite facies. It is divided into lower (granulite to amphibolite facies) and upper (amphibolite to greenschist facies) metamorphic sequences. The metamorphic age of the belt was considered to be ~55 Ma, based on Rb – Sr whole-rock isochron ages for granulites and related S-type tonalities. However, zircons from the granulites in the lower sequence yield U – Pb ages of ~21 – 19 Ma, and a preliminary report on zircons from pelitic gneiss in the upper sequence gives a U – Pb age of ~40 Ma. In this paper we provide new zircon U – Pb ages from two pelitic gneisses in the upper sequence to assess the metamorphic age and also the maximum depositional age of the sedimentary protolith. The weighted mean 206Pb/238U ages from a biotite gneiss in the central area of the belt yield 39.6 ± 0.9 Ma for newly grown metamorphic rims and 53.1 ± 0.9 Ma for the youngest detrital cores. The ages of zircons from a cordierite–biotite gneiss in the southern area are 35.9 ± 0.7 Ma for metamorphic rims and 46.5 ± 2.8 Ma for the youngest detrital cores. These results indicate that metamorphism of the upper sequence took place at ~40 – 36 Ma, and that the sedimentary protolith was deposited after ~53 – 47 Ma. These metamorphic ages are consistent with the reported ages of ~37–36 Ma plutonic rocks in the upper sequence, but contrast with the ~21–19 Ma ages of metamorphic and plutonic rocks in the lower sequence. Therefore, we conclude that the upper and lower metamorphic sequences developed independently but coupled with each other before ~19 Ma as a result of dextral reverse tectonic movement. 相似文献

Granitoids in the Hida region of Japan encompass two main rock types: younger type‐1 granites and older type‐2 granites. Sensitive high mass‐resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) U–Pb zircon dating of older type‐2 granites collected from the Tateyama area show similar ages of 245 ± 2 Ma and 248 ± 5 Ma for two gneissose granites, while a significantly younger intrusion age of 197 ± 3 Ma was determined for the younger type‐1 granites collected from the Hayatsukigawa River which belongs to the Okumayama pluton. A felsic gneiss sample (07HI‐3) collected from the right bank of the Hayatsukigawa River yielded multiple complex ages at 330 ± 6 Ma, indicating the timing of the Hida regional tectono‐thermal events that formed the Hida gneisses; 243 ± 8 Ma, representing the timing of intrusion of the augen granite; and 220 Ma, indicating the timing of regional dextral ductile shearing that caused a repeated recrystallization of metamorphic rocks in the study area. Considering the geochronological data, the rock types and assemblages, basement, and Sr–Nd isotopic constraints, we propose that the Hida Belt separated from the Jiamushi massif, which is located in the eastern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. 相似文献

The outer shelf of Funka Bay, located at the bay head of Hidaka Bay, is a recognised main winter spawning ground for walleye
pollock (Theragra chalcogramma), whose newly hatched juveniles migrate eastward along the Hidaka shelf to the nursery ground located in the Doto area. To
examine the seasonal change of the coastal current along this migration route, four current moorings were deployed along the
shelf in Hidaka Bay from April, 2004 to June, 2006. Since these mooring sites were close to the coast, the circulation was
estimated after removal of the wind-driven component. It was found that the winter coastal flow, forced by a north-westerly
monsoon wind, is clockwise along the Hidaka shelf. However, this flow is weak due to the superimposition of the opposite Coastal
Oyashio flow trapped on the shelf. In summer, a bifurcation of the coastal current occurs along the north-eastern Hidaka shelf
with a south-eastward flow, associated with the Tsugaru Gyre, and a north-westward flow, consisting of a branch from this
gyre. Our results provide a new understanding of the migration of juvenile walleye pollock: (1) very slow transport of juveniles
along the Hidaka shelf from winter to spring, and (2) selection of earlier spawning survivors due to the bifurcated flow in

A new U–Pb zircon geochronological study for the Hida metamorphic and plutonic rocks from the Tateyama area in the Hida Mountains of north central Japan is presented. The U–Pb ages of metamorphic zircon grains with inherited/detrital cores in paragneisses suggest that a metamorphic event took place at around 235–250 Ma; the cores yield ages around 275 Ma, 300 Ma, 330 Ma, 1 850 Ma, and 2 650 Ma. New age data, together with geochronological and geological context of the Hida Belt, indicate that a sedimentary protolith of the paragneisses is younger than 275 Ma and was crystallized at around 235–250 Ma. Detrital ages support a model that the Hida Belt was located in the eastern margin of the North China Craton, which provided zircon grains from Paleoproterozoic to Paleozoic rocks and also from Archean and rare Neoproterozoic rocks. Triassic regional metamorphism possibly reflects collision between the North and South China Cratons. 相似文献

In order to investigate ways of reducing vibrations of building structures subjected to excitation acting on intermediate storey, active vibration controls are conducted with active control devices installed on different floors of the structure, and the effective location of control devices is also investigated. In this paper, we propose a new ‘Discrete‐Optimizing Control Method’ for vibration control. The control forces are determined analytically which makes the ‘discrete‐index function’ minimum. Through numerical simulation, the Discrete‐Optimizing Control Method is proved to be an effective control method.
