Sector-zoned phlogopites in igneous rocks   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Sector-zoned micas are described in three occurrences of igneous rocks. Basal sectors (001) and lateral sectors (010) are well defined. Analyses of probably isochronous growth points indicate that there are consistent chemical composition differences between the sectors, the (010) sector being richer in Si and poorer in Ti, Fe, Al and Ba relative to the (001) sector. Within each sector type Fe/ (Fe + Mg) increases from core to rim. These differences vary in amplitude from one occurrence to the other, but are systematic for micas with extremely different tetrahedral cations. Possible factors influencing this type of crystallization are briefly reviewed: growth rate, geometry of protosites and bulk composition of the liquid.  相似文献

Multi-telescope observations of the coronal transient of 15–16 April, 1980 provide simultaneous data from the Solar Maximum Mission Coronagraph/Polarimeter, the Solwind Coronagraph, and the new Emission Line Coronagraph of the Sacramento Peak Observatory. An eruptive prominence-associated white light transient is for the first time seen as an unusual wave or brightening in Fe x gl6374 (but not in Fe xiv gl5303). Several interpretations of this fleeting enhancement are offered.The prominence shows a slowly increasing acceleration which peaks at the time of the Fe event. The white light loop transient surrounding the prominence expands at a well-documented constant speed to 10R , with an extrapolated start time at zero height coincident with the surface activity.This loop transient exemplifies those seen above 1.7R in that leading the disturbance is a bright (N e-enhanced) loop rather than dark. This is consistent with a report of the behavior of another eruptive event observed by Fisher and Poland (1981) which began as a density depletion in the lower corona, with a bright loop forming at greater altitudes. The top of the bright loop ultimately fades in the outer corona while slow radial growth continues in the legs.The National Center for Atmospheric Research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

Until very recently, there has been no identification of the significant gravitational constraints on the many common artificial earth satellite orbits in shallow resonance. Without them it is difficult to compare results derived for different sets of harmonics from different orbits. With them it is possible to extend these results to any degree without reintegration of the orbits. All such constraints are shown to be harmonic in the argument of perigee with constants determinable from tracking data: $$(C*,S*) = (C_0 ,S_0 ) + \sum\limits_{i = 1}^\infty {(C_{Ci} ,S_{Ci} )\cos i\omega + (C_{Si} ,S_{Si} )\sin i\omega .} $$ The constants are simple linear combinations of geopotential harmonics. Five such constants (lumped harmonics) have been derived for the GEOS-2 orbit (order 13, to 30th degree) whose principal resonant period is 6 days. These five lumped harmonics are shown to account for almost all (>98%) of the resonant information in the tracking. They agree well with recent gravitational models which include substantial amounts of GEOS-2 data.  相似文献

Mesothermal vein-type Sb mineralization in the Rheinisches Schiefergebirge, Germany, is characterized by two different mineralization styles, which are (1) extensional quartz-stibnite vein systems, and (2) (Cu)-Pb-Sb sulphosalt assemblages in overprinted pre-existing Pb-Zn veins. A detailed Pb isotope study of 52 representative samples from both mineralization types indicates distinct compositional patterns. (Cu)-Pb-Sb sulphosalts (meneghinite, boulangerite, bournonite) formed by reaction/remobilization are characterized by Pb isotope compositions (206Pb/204Pb=18.179-18.223), which are identical to the precursor galena (206Pb/204Pb=18.168-18.223). The Pb isotope composition of sulphosalt minerals in these vein systems was controlled by lead inherited from pre-existing galena. Stibnite and Pb-sulphosalts (zinkenite, semseyite, plagionite) formed in quartz-stibnite vein systems display Pb isotope ratios (206Pb/204Pb=18.250-18.354), which are more radiogenic than galenas from Variscan Pb-Zn ore veins (206Pb/204Pb=18.162-18.303). Detailed small-scale investigation of thrust zones hosting Pb-Zn ores and crosscutting quartz-ankerite fissure veins (Ramsbeck deposit) indicates that the Pb isotope compositions of recrystallized (galena) and remobilized phases (boulangerite, semseyite, bournonite) are arranged along a linear trend. This is interpreted as mixing between primary galena with 206Pb/204Pb᜞.206 and overprinting hydrothermal fluids with a more radiogenic composition (206Pb/204Pb⁾.354), expressed by intermediate compositions (206Pb/204Pb=18.256-18.334) of newly-formed sulphosalts. The Pb isotope systematics of the vein-type Sb mineralization is in accordance with a model of Pb extraction from similar crustal sources (Palaeozoic sedimentary sequences) at different times.  相似文献

We investigated interstitial flow velocities in the Oberer Seebach, Austria, with NaCl tracer injections at a sediment depth of 30 cm to estimate the hydraulic conditions experienced by invertebrates inhabiting the hyporheic zone. Flow velocity measured with tracers is taken as travel time of the water along a straight line between injection and sampling points, although the water flows around sediment particles, and thus travels a somewhat longer distance. From sections of stream sediment in which the interstitial spaces were replaced by concrete, we estimated that this difference amounts, on average, to 27% and used this factor to correct the results of our velocity measurements. Corrected interstitial water velocities ranged from 0.01 to 1.32 cm s-1 and were independent of surface discharge. We also studied spatial flow patterns in the bed sediments with long-term tracer injections. The three-dimensional distribution of tracer concentrations 24 hours after the start of the injection indicated that interstitial water preferentially flows in a complex network of areas of high hydraulic connectivity. Reynolds numbers for flow in the hyporheic pore space ranged from 0.1 to 489, implying that the flow environment varies from laminar up to the zone of transition to turbulent flow. Therefore, invertebrates may have a size-related active choice of areas where either friction drag or pressure drag predominates. The consequence of flow patterns, such as those observed in our study, is that small-scale variability of hydraulic conditions may be an important determinant of the patchy invertebrate distribution in bed sediments.  相似文献

We present results from time-series optical spectroscopy of the low-inclination, nova-like cataclysmic variable, V592 Cas. The data span the wavelength range from ∼4000 to 5000  Å, and include Balmer lines (Hβ to Hε) as well as He i and He ii . The Balmer lines are generally characterized by shallow absorption troughs with superimposed narrower central emission components. The absorption troughs are variable on time-scales of at least ∼20 min, but the fluctuations are asymmetric such that they are more dominant on the blueward side of the profile out to ∼−2000 km s−1. Fourier analysis reveals modulation periods for emission radial velocities and absorption changes of ∼0.114 and 0.103 d; we support earlier suggestions that the latter is likely to be 1-day alias of the former, which is essentially the system orbital period. However, there is a phase lag of ∼0.3 between absorption and emission changes. The Balmer absorption changes are compared to the predicted behaviour caused by the (stream overflowing) SW Sex phenomenon. There are several discrepancies in this scenario, including the highly asymmetric nature of blueward changes, the velocity amplitudes, and the phase relation to the emission changes. The role of a disc wind in V592 Cas is also discussed; in particular, with this data set, we cannot rule in or rule out the possibility that axisymmetry of the outflow is broken because it is seated on a warped/tilted inner disc, which is implied by previous evidence for negative superhumps in this system.  相似文献

Intraday variability is detected in Blazars throughout the electromagnetic spectrum. Only radio emission is affected by interstellar scintillation. The characteristics of variability observed at different frequencies are often similar and suggest that intrinsic variations also contribute to the changes detected in the radio wavelength regime. This in turn implies very high brightness temperatures. Unambiguous signatures of scintillation and of intrinsic changes have been identified. The properties of intrinsic variations are reviewed to illustrate their potential contribution to variability in the radio domain. Such intrinsic changes need to be discriminated against when studying scintillation in quasars and BL Lac objects. Observations of scintillating sources and of sources with significant intrinsic IDV suggest interesting modifications to the standard paradigm of AGN. Unusual auroral emission at mid-latitudes, showing nearly exclusively the green oxygen line (557.7 nm) and occurring during the early part of the recovery phase after strong magnetic storms is described. The emission has a life-time of up to several hours, consists of cloud-like patches and appears quite isolated at medium latitudes with no simultaneous aurorae at higher latitudes. The name “post-storm mid-latitude green aurora” is proposed for this emission. For the event observed during the night of 29–30 August 1978, additional ionospheric measurements from heights below the mid-latitude aurora (?min, A3-LF data) are available from nearby observations. Our investigation shows that the emission was observed just at the beginning of a post-storm effect (PSE) in ionospheric absorption. The optical and absorption data have been used to extract information on precipitating high-energy electrons, assumed to be the cause of both the optical emisson and the excessive absorption. During the night in question precipitating electrons with fluxes above the quiet-time level and energies upto at least 200 keV were found in a region extended in latitude (2.7 < L < 3.3) and probably even more extended in longitude. Latitudinally narrow bands, elongated along shells of constant L, with extremely high fluxes of 10–20keV electrons (according to our estimates at least 5. 107 el cm?2s?1) were embedded within this region.  相似文献
