A sulfide chimney ore sampled from the flank of the active Tiger vent area in the Yonaguni Knoll IV hydrothermal field, south Okinawa trough, consists of anhydrite, pyrite, sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite and bismuthinite. Electron microprobe analysis indicates that the chalcopyrite contains up to 2.4 wt% Sn, whereas bismuthinite contains up to 1.7 wt% Pt, 0.8 wt% Cu and 0.5 wt% Fe. The Sn‐rich chalcopyrite and Pt–Cu–Fe‐bearing bismuthinite are the first reported occurrence of such minerals in an active submarine hydrothermal system. The results confirm that Sn enters the chalcopyrite as a solid solution towards stannite by the coupled substitution of Sn4+Fe2+ for Fe3+Fe3+, whereas Pt, Cu and Fe enter the bismuthinite structure as a solid solution during rapid nucleation. The fluid inclusions homogenization temperatures in anhydrite (220–310°C) and measured end‐member temperature of the vent fluids on‐site (325°C) indicate that Sn‐bearing chalcopyrite and Pt–Cu–Fe‐bearing bismuthinite express the original composition of the minerals that precipitated as metastable phases at a temperature above 300°C. The result observed in this study implies that sulfides in ancient volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits have similar trace element distribution during nucleation but it is remobilised during diagenesis, metamorphism or supergene enrichment processes.  相似文献

In situ X-ray diffraction measurements on a calcium aluminosilicate (CAS) phase have been carried out using a laser-heated diamond anvil cell up to a pressure of 44 GPa, employing a synchrotron radiation source. CAS is the major mineral formed from sediments subducted into the Earth's mantle. The sample was heated using a YAG laser after each pressure increment to relax the deviatoric stress in the sample. X-ray diffraction measurements were carried out at T = 300 K using an angle-dispersive technique. The pressure was calculated using an internal platinum metal pressure calibrant. The Birch–Murnaghan equation of state for the CAS phase obtained from the experimental unit cell parameters showed a density of ρ0 = 3.888 g/cm3 and a bulk modulus of K0 = 229 ± 9 GPa for K0 = 4.7 ± 0.7. When the first pressure derivative of the bulk modulus was fixed at K0 = 4, then the value of K0 = 239 ± 2 GPa. From the experimental compressibility, the density of the CAS phase was observed to be lower than the density of co-existing Al-bearing stishovite, calcium perovskite, calcium ferrite-type phases, and (Fe,Al)-bearing Mg-perovskite in subducted sediments in the lower mantle. Therefore, the density of subducted sediments in the lower mantle decreases with increasing mineral proportion of the CAS phase.  相似文献

Experimental studies have been carried out on the dynamic stability of a cantilever cylindrical shell partially filled with liquid, under vertical excitation. Two polyester test cylinders with radius 100 mm, thickness 0.25 mm, and lengths 113 and 227 mm were used. The test cylinder was harmonically excited with constant acceleration- or displacement-amplitude. It was found that not only the parametric principal instability resonance but also the parametric combination involving two natural vibrations, each of which has the same circumferential wave number but different axial mode numbers, could occur. The latter type of vibration apparently has not been previously studied. By varying the dimensionless water height from 0.25 to 1.0 stepwise by 0.25 increments, the instability regions and vibration modes were determined for the two test cylinders. The response waves of shell wall and liquid free surface, and axial and circumferential vibration modes were also observed.  相似文献

Theoretical analyses are presented for the dynamic stability of a clamped-free cylindrical shell partially filled with liquid, under vertical excitation. In the analyses, the dynamic version of the Donnell equations and the velocity potential theory were used for the motions of the shell and the liquid, respectively. The problem was solved by using the modified Galerkin method so as to satisfy the boundary conditions. The equations of motion coupling the shell and the liquid were derived from a type of coupled Mathieu's equation. It is found that the parametric principal resonance could occur, as well as the parametric combination resonance of the sum type, involving two natural vibrations with the same circumferential wave number but with different axial mode number. The latter type of parametric resonance apparently has not been previously studied. The instability regions where parametric resonance occurs were determined by using Hsu's method.17 To compare with the experimental results which had been stated in a companion paper,15 detailed numerical calculations were carried out for the two test cylinders partially filled with water. Excellent agreement between theory and experiment was demonstrated for the instability regions.  相似文献

Ensemble averages of temperature before and after step-like temperature fluctuations reveal the presence of inverted ramps in a stable surface layer. Normalized frequency of upward steps increases with increasing stability, whereas normalized magnitude of the temperature step decreases with stability and becomes constant at about R i = 1. These results suggest that the significance of temperature steps increases as stability increases. In moderate stability, the temperature pattern shows a gradual decrease after an upward step, which can be called a time-inverted ramp. Descending air and large downward heat flux are observed in a time-inverted ramp, suggesting a contribution from an ordered motion in wind. On the other hand, the temperature steps are related to gravity waves in strong stability.  相似文献

Nonstructural reinforced concrete flat walls architecturally designed as exterior/partition walls in concrete buildings were severely damaged by the 2011 earthquake off the Pacific coast of Tohoku. This damage was observed in the monolithic nonstructural flat walls of relatively old ductile concrete buildings. Although these flat walls might affect the overall seismic performance and behavior of a building, the nonstructural wall effects have not been clarified because of the complex interactions among the structural components. To understand these effects, this paper conducts an experimental and numerical investigation of the nonstructural wall effects, focusing on a typical residential building damaged by the 2011 earthquake. A single‐story, one‐bay moment‐resisting frame model of the building with a nonstructural flat wall was tested to clarify the fundamental behavior. The results reveal that the wall significantly contributed to the seismic performance of the overall frame until it failed in shear, subsequently losing structural effectiveness. Such experimental wall behavior could be simulated by the isoparametric element model. Moreover, the structural effects of the nonstructural flat walls on the global seismic performance and behavior of the investigated building were discussed through earthquake response analyses using ground motions recorded near the building site and pushover analyses. Consequently, the building damage could be simulated in an analytical case considering the nonstructural flat walls, showing larger inter‐story drifts in the lower stories due to softening of the walls. The analytical results also indicated that the softening of the nonstructural flat walls decreased the building ductility, as defined by ultimate inter‐story drifts. We used more than 25,000 nutrient samples to elucidate for the first time basin-scale distributions and seasonal changes of surface ammonium (NH4 +) and nitrite (NO2 ?) concentrations in the Pacific Ocean. The highest NH4 +, NO2 ?, and nitrate (NO3 ?) concentrations were observed north of 40°N, in the coastal upwelling region off the coast of Mexico, and in the Tasman Sea. NH4 + concentrations were elevated during May–October in the western subarctic North Pacific, May–December in the eastern subarctic North Pacific, and June–September in the subtropical South Pacific. NO2 ? concentrations were highest in winter in both hemispheres. The seasonal cycle of NH4 + was synchronous with NO2 ?, NO3 ?, and satellite chlorophyll a concentrations in the western subtropical South Pacific, whereas it was synchronous with chlorophyll-a but out of phase with NO2 ? and NO3 ? in the subarctic regions.  相似文献

High pressure and temperature reactions of a mixture of forsterite and hydrogen molecules have been carried out using a laser heated diamond anvil cell at 9.8–13.2 GPa and ~1,000 K. In situ X-ray diffraction measurements showed no sign of decomposition or phase transitions of the forsterite under these experimental conditions, indicating that the olivine structure was maintained throughout all runs. However, a substantial expansion of the unit cell volume of the forsterite was observed for samples down to ~3 GPa upon quenching to ambient pressure at room temperature. The Raman spectroscopy measurements under pressure showed significant shifts of the Raman peaks of the Si–O vibration modes for forsterite and of the intramolecular vibration mode for H2 molecules toward a lower frequency after heating. Additionally, no OH vibration modes were observed by Raman and FT-IR spectroscopic measurements. These lines of evidence show that the observed volume expansion in forsterite is not explained by the incorporation of hydrogen atoms as hydroxyl, but suggest the presence of hydrogen as molecules in the forsterite structure under these high pressure and temperature conditions.  相似文献
