Cosmic X-rays in the energy range between 0.210 keV were observed with polypropylene window proportional counters on board a sounding rocket. The field of view crossed the galactic plane in the Sgr region and reached galactic latitudes of 50° and –90°. A new soft X-ray source was found in the Aries-Taurus region. The soft X-ray flux from the direction of NGC 1275 was conspicuous, whereas that of Sgr region source were very weak. The distribution of the intensity of diffuse soft X-rays over the scanned region indicates the galactic emission of soft X-rays.  相似文献

We have investigated nonlinear equilibrium states of a microscopic current filamentation (electrothermal instability) in solar atmosphere. The microscopic filamentation instability will develop for transition zone ion temperature plasmas, provided T e/Ti > 1, where T e and T i are the electron and ion temperatures, respectively. Since the temperature radio for a steady-state solar atmosphere is approximately unity, the electrothermal instability will develop only in a time-dependent solar atmosphere. Indeed, such a condition is provided by time-dependent currents, which seem to exist in many magnetic loops as recent analysis by Porter et al. (1987) indicates. When the onset condition for the electrothermal instability is satisfied, the instability drives a current filamentation to a nonlinear equilibrium state with a spatially periodic electron temperature variation with the wavelength comparable to several ion-Larmor radii. The amplitude of the periodic temperature variation may be so large that the transition layer temperature and coronal temperature plasmas may exist within several Larmor radii — coexistence of the transition zone and corona within the same macro-volume.  相似文献

InFOCμS is a new generation balloon-borne hard X-ray telescope with focusing optics and spectroscopy. We had a successful 22.5-hour flight from Fort Sumner, NM on September 16,17, 2004. In this paper, we present the performance of the hard X-ray telescope, which consists of a depth-graded platinum/carbon multilayer mirror and a CdZnTe detector. The telescope has an effective area of 49 cm2 at 30 keV, an angular resolution of 2.4 arcmin (HPD), and a field of view of 11 arcmin (FWHM) depending on energies. The CdZnTe detector is configured with a 12 × 12 segmented array of detector pixels. The pixels are 2 mm square, and are placed on 2.1 mm centers. An averaged energy resolution is 4.4 keV at 60 keV and its standard deviation is 0.36 keV over 128 pixels. The detector is surrounded by a 3-cm thick CsI anti coincidence shield to reduce background from particles and photons not incident along the mirror focal direction. The inflight background is 2.9 × 10−4 cts cm−2 sec−1 keV−1 in the 20–50 keV band.  相似文献

Results of a survey of instrumentation and detector systems, either currently deployed or planned for use at telescopes larger than 3.5 m, in ground based observatories world-wide, are presented. This survey revealed a number of instrumentation design trends at optical, near, and mid-infrared wavelengths. Some of the most prominent trends include the development of vastly larger optical detector systems (> 109 pixels) than anything built to date, and the frequent use of mosaics of near-infrared detectors – something that was quite rare only a decade ago in astronomy. Some future science applications for detectors are then explored, in an attempt to build a bridge between current detectors and what will be needed to support the research ambitions of astronomers in the future.  相似文献

The structure of silicate melts in the system Na2O·4SiO2 saturated with reduced C-O-H volatile components and of coexisting silicate-saturated C-O-H solutions has been determined in a hydrothermal diamond anvil cell (HDAC) by using confocal microRaman and FTIR spectroscopy as structural probes. The experiments were conducted in-situ with the melt and fluid at high temperature (up to 800 °C) and pressure (up to 1435 MPa). Redox conditions in the HDAC were controlled with the reaction, Mo + H2O = MoO+ H2, which is slightly more reducing than the Fe + H2O = FeO + H2 buffer at 800 °C and less.The dominant species in the fluid are CH4 + H2O together with minor amounts of molecular H2 and an undersaturated hydrocarbon species. In coexisting melt, CH3 - groups linked to the silicate melt structure via Si-O-CH3 bonding may dominate and possibly coexists with molecular CH4. The abundance ratio of CH3 - groups in melts relative to CH4 in fluids increases from 0.01 to 0.07 between 500 and 800 °C. Carbon-bearing species in melts were not detected at temperatures and pressures below 400 °C and 730 MPa, respectively. A schematic solution mechanism is, Si-O-Si + CH4?Si-O-CH3+H-O-Si. This mechanism causes depolymerization of silicate melts. Solution of reduced (C-O-H) components will, therefore, affect melt properties in a manner resembling dissolved H2O.  相似文献

The Orikabe Plutonic Complex, northeast Japan, is a zoned pluton and one of the Cretaceous intrusions in the Circum-Pacific area. In the Main body, K-rich calc-alkaline rocks composed of marginal gabbro and a large amount of monzodiorite–quartz monzonite–monzogranite are intruded successively by innermost calc-alkaline rocks of granodiorite. The gabbro and monzodiorite–monzogranite have a continuous chemical variation, while the granodiorite has lower concentrations of K, Rb, Y, Zr, Nb and F at the same SiO2 content. The gabbro and monzodiorite–quartz monzonite have a Rb-Sr whole-rock age of 119±12 Ma with an initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.70392±0.00007. The initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of the innermost granodiorite is estimated to be about 0.7042. The 18O values of fresh rocks range from +6.7 to +8.3, indicating a positive correlation with SiO2 contents. The K-rich calc-alkaline rocks were derived through fractional crystallization from a mafic parental magma with a slightly high 18O value, implying a major contribution of a sub-arc mantle at a continental margin. Trace element modeling indicates that the source could have been a fertile lherzolite enriched in LILE and depleted in HFSE. The innermost granodiorite was the differentiation product of a distinct parental magma, suggesting the involvement of a small amount of crustal component in the source and partial melting under a more hydrous condition.Editorial responsibility: J. Rebuilding of victims' livelihoods was a crucial issue in the restoration process in the1995 Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Disaster. Housing damage assessment influencedmost of the rebuilding of the livelihood in the long term, because the Victim Certificatesissued by the local governments based on the results of the Housing damage assessmentwas required to receive most of the individual assistance measures. In the process ofHousing damage assessment, many complex problems arose, leading to extensivework on the part of the disaster responders. Consequently, a considerable number ofvictims were dissatisfied with the assessment and applied for a resurvey. Due to a floodof requests for resurvey, disaster responders had to work on damage assessment, leavingrelief activities aside.In order to facilitate Housing damage assessment, this paper discusses thefollowing five points: (1) the processes and the problems of assessments performedin the Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Disaster, (2) the changes in the nature of informationneeded by the victims, (3) the improvements over the present damage assessment, (4)the housing situation in Japan, and (5) the international situation on damage assessment.It is obvious from the results that a poor damage assessment system and the size ofthe disaster produced a very large work load. Differences in appreciation among theinvestigators also contributed to unfair assessments and led to the victims beingincreasingly dissatisfied by the survey results. Finally, a design concept for acomprehensive damage assessment system, which has been derived from theabove five points, is proposed for post-disaster management.  相似文献

Coastal vegetation is widely recognized to reduce tsunami damage to people and buildings, and it has been studied recently because it requires relatively little capital investment compared with artificial measures, provides human-friendly beach fronts, and enhances inter-relationships with other ecological systems. However, the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake at 14:46 JST on March 11, 2011, with a magnitude of 9.0 and epicenter 129?km east of Sendai, broke most of the sea wall (tsunami gates, large embankments) and caused catastrophic damage to coastal forests in the Tohoku and Kanto districts of Japan. A field survey was conducted to elucidate the critical breaking condition of Japanese coastal pine trees. Tree-trunk breakage was observed when the sea embankment was washed out or when there was no sea embankment and the tree was under strong inertia force or impact force by debris. Even though the trunk bending and breaking phenomena are different, statistical analysis showed that the critical diameters for trunk bending and trunk breaking were not very different. The overturning phenomenon is a little more complex than trunk breaking because the resistive force is a function of the substrate and root anchorage. An equation to determine the critical diameters for trunk bending, trunk breaking, and overturning was derived as a function of tsunami water depth, soil-root strength, and the hydrodynamic parameter (H D ) formulated by Froude number, drag coefficient, and the ratio of impact force to drag force considering the physical mechanisms to resist the tsunami. Trunk bending and breaking were closely related to tsunami water depth and the hydrodynamic parameter (H D ), but tree overturning was found to be more site specific, and the root-soil strength greatly affected the critical value. The proposed critical diameter equation and its coefficient are useful for the design of an inland forest of pine trees that can trap large trees, cars, debris, etc., to its breaking limit. The trapping function should be utilized more in the future designs of inland forests, if possible, on embankments.  相似文献

Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration and dissolved organic matter (DOM) optical properties were analyzed along two estuarine river transects during the wet and dry seasons to better understand DOM dynamics and quantify mangrove inputs. A tidal study was performed to assess the impacts of tidal pumping on DOM transport. DOM in the estuaries showed non-conservative mixing indicative of mangrove-derived inputs. Similarly, fluorescence data suggest that some terrestrial humic-like components showed non-conservative behavior. An Everglades freshwater-derived fluorescent component, which is associated with soil inputs from the Northern Everglades, behaved conservatively. During the dry season, a protein-like component behaved conservatively until the mid-salinity range when non-conservative behavior due to degradation and/or loss was observed. The tidal study data suggests mangrove porewater inputs to the rivers following low tide. The differences in quantity of DOM exported by the Shark and Harney Rivers imply that geomorphology and tidal hydrology may be a dominant factor controlling the amount of DOM exported from the mangrove ecotone, where up to 21 % of the DOC is mangrove-derived. Additionally, nutrient concentrations and other temporal factors may control DOM export from the mangroves, particularly for the microbially derived fluorescent components, contributing to the seasonal differences. The wet and dry season fluxes of mangrove DOM from the Shark River is estimated as 0.27?×?109 mg C d?1 and 0.075?×?109 mg C d?1, respectively, and the Harney River is estimated as 1.9?×?109 mg C d?1 and 0.20?×?109 mg C d?1.  相似文献

Fluorine contents have been determined in about forty samples of amphibole, mica and apatite in alkali basalt and kimberlite and their incorporated xenoliths. They show a wide variation ranging from 15,000 to 100 ppm, corresponding to about 40 to 0.2 per cent substitution of F for OH in hydroxyl site of hydrous minerals. Fluorine abundances in these minerals reflect those of their host magmas or rocks; Itinome-gata xenoliths are the lowest and South African kimberlites and their xenoliths are the highest. F/OH and also. D/H (Kuroda et al. 1975) ratios in coexisting phlogopite-potassic richterite from peridotite and mica nodules are thoughts to have formed under no simple equlibrium conditions.  相似文献
