Laboratory tests are conducted to measure the impact pressures of breaking waves on vertical, 5° forward, and 5, 10, 20, 30, and 45° backward sloping walls. The base structure of the wall has a foreshore slope of
. Regular waves are used throughout the experiments for all wall angles. The maximum impact pressures on the wall are shown to satisfy the log-normal probability distribution. It is found from the present experiments that the impact pressures and resulting forces on sloping walls can be greater than those on a vertical wall. On the seven different walls tested, the maximum impact pressures occur most frequently slightly below the still-water level. The pattern of the impact pressure history does not change with the slope of the wall, and as the probability of maximum impact pressure decreases, the pressures around the peak pressure region of the impact pressure histories remain longer. 相似文献

The results of laboratory experiments on the maximum and bottom impact pressures from waves breaking directly on vertical and sloping faced coastal structures are presented. Direct wave breaking on a wall is classified as early, late, and perfect breaking. Although the present study is aimed at dealing with the type of impact resulting from the perfect breaking, to some extent the occurrence of early and late breaking are unavoidable. The wave impact pressures, therefore, have a random nature of variation from impact-to-impact under the same conditions. The maximum and bottom impact pressures on walls are treated statistically. The effects of the wall angle and foreshore slope on these two quantities are examined. The results show that for practical applications, the still-water level can be taken as the acting place for the maximum impact pressure on the wall. Simultaneous impact pressure distribution below and above still-water level may be approximated as parabolic and linear, respectively. Finally, using a wall deflection criterion, a water depth region in front of the wall is defined, where the breaking wave forces may reach a critical level. 相似文献

The Quaternary evolution of the Gulf of İzmit, situated on the tectonically active North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ), was
investigated using seismic reflection, paleontologic, and sediment textural data. On the basis of seismic stratigraphic and
sedimentologic-paleontologic interpretations, four depositional units were distinguished within the Plio-Quaternary sequence
of the Gulf of İzmit. According to these data, Plio-Quaternary deposits supplied from the northern terrestrial area started
to accumulate during a progradational phase, in a south-facing half-graben. A coarse-grained sedimentary unit prograding into
the gulf from the south since 200 ka b.p. indicates a dramatic variation in the evolution of the gulf, with the initiation of a new strike-slip fault of the NAFZ
and a corresponding uplift of the Armutlu Peninsula in the south of the gulf. During the evolution of this fault from a wide
shear zone consisting of right-stepped strike-slip faults and pull-apart basins to a localized principal fault zone, sediments
were deposited under the influence of northerly prograding terrestrial and shallow-marine conditions due to relative sea-level
fluctuations in the Marmara Sea. During this period, the Gulf of İzmit was invaded mainly by Mediterranean and partly by Black
Sea waters. In the latest glacial period, shallow areas in the gulf became subaerially exposed, whereas the central and western
sub-basins of the gulf turned into lakes. The present evolution of the Gulf of İzmit is controlled by the after effects of
the new rupture of the NAFZ and the estuarine nature of the gulf environment. 相似文献

采用PCR(polym erase chain reaction)-DGGE(denaturing grad ient gel electrophoresis)及传统的微生物培养方法对凡纳滨对虾Litopenaeus vannam ei咸淡水养殖系统内各种环境的细菌群落组成进行了比较研究。传统的微生物培养计数表明,从海湾水、养殖池水到对虾粪样,细菌和弧菌的数量表现出依次增加的趋势,粪样及肠壁中弧菌的数量高出外界水环境1—4个数量级。相对于外界水环境,粪样中有很高的芽孢杆菌孢子含量,但是肠壁定植细菌中不存在芽孢杆菌(孢子)。PCR-DGGE及聚类分析结果表明,从海湾沿岸、养殖池、对虾粪便到对虾肠壁,细菌群落的多样性由高到低,无论是在哪种环境,群落的优势种都十分明显,且只有2—4种。来自同一环境各样品间的细菌群落组成非常相似,来自不同环境的样品,其细菌群落组成差别较大。聚类图上各簇的排列顺序反映了样品在取样空间分布上的毗邻次序和它们的相似程度。 相似文献

In this paper, residual and regional gravity and magnetic anomalies of Saros Bay are separated using wavelet method. Wavelet
is one of the modern, stochastic image approaches processing technique in electronics. The vertical, horizontal and diagonal
components of wavelet output are evaluated simultaneously and an underground model is obtained by suitable cross-sections.
Thus the geological and tectonic properties of Saros Bay are extracted. Our proposed model is confirmed by deep and shallow
seismic researches of Turkish Petroleum Cooperation (TPAO). The South-East region of Saros Graben is formed by strike slip
Ganos Fault and Anafartalar reverse Fault that lies on the east of Ganos Fault. On the Northwest region, there is strike slip
component fault resulting in the Enez Graben. Here we detected two new oval type geological structure, both of them starting
from the Eastern direction of Canakkale Dardanelles and but one of them continuing through Gelibolu Peninsuls, while the other
tending to the Enez Graben. We think that these structures are the ruins of a very old sea in this region.

The lake Hunnebotn (A=1 km2, zmax=11 m) has become separated from the sea by isostasis, but a 1.5-m-deep channel is held open by periodic dredging. Water exchange is minor due to the small tidal range (21 cm) and the length of the channel (1.8 km), but there may be an inflow of seawater at spring tides. The terrestrial watershed runoff may be fertilized by sewage and agricultural runoff despite some measures taken to prevent this. Historical and new records of biological communities indicate variations in sensitivity to different phases of the isolation and eutrophication process. The native oyster was most sensitive and disappeared first. Later, the eelgrass disappeared possibly due to overgrowth by epiphytic algae, and finally there was a massive littoral–sublittoral invasion of green algae. The lake should not be left in this condition, for aesthetic reasons and because marine inlets and eutrophic brackish water may serve as refugia for spore populations of toxic microalgae. Improving surface water quality will require better control of anthropogenic sources, but bursts and leaks of nutrients from the anoxic monimolimnion cannot be controlled. 相似文献

This paper presents a study of changes in eutrophication over the past 100 years in a fertile estuary. The Danish estuary Mariager Fjord is a long, narrow sill-fjord with a permanently anoxic basin. In 1997 anoxia spread from the basin to the entire inner estuary, killing almost all eukaryotes and prompting debate on the causes. This paper reports a multi-proxy survey of 210Pb-dated sediment cores from the anoxic basin. Analyses of diatoms, dinoflagellates, pigments and geochemical proxies were used to determine changes in ecosystem structure over the past 100 years. The aim was to establish ‘base-line conditions’, for management purposes, of the biological structure prior to 1900, and to examine possible causes of changes observed. Geochemical proxies total nitrogen (TN), total carbon (TC) and biogenic silica (BSi) were consistently high throughout the sediment record. Increased concentrations of pigments and natural isotopes (δ13C, δ15N) suggested increasing production and nutrient loading. The main changes in the biological proxies occurred between 1915 and the 1940s, and indicated that the estuary has been somewhat eutrophic since 1900, but that the eutrophication process increased over the past 100 years. A reconstruction of TN concentration by a diatom-based transfer function supports this interpretation, with inferred TN ca. 1900 around 60 μmol l−1, and an increase in TN concentration over the past century to ca. 130 μmol l−1 by 1995.
