Geological and geophysical data reveal that the Okinawa Trough shows incipient continental rifting, and crustal separation started from about 2 Ma. The early extensional movements in the trough are probably of Miocene age. In addition to the Miocene phase, two main periods of extension are recognized: a Pleistocene phase between 1.9 and 0.5 Ma and the present day phase. During the stage short central rifts (Central Grabens) were formed. The opening however, may have occurred only in the southern part of the trough basin having an average half spreading rate of 2 cm yr?1 since Early Pleistocene time, producing its present width of several tens of kilometres. These activities were well represented by igneous intrusions, sedimentary facies and sedimentary structures in and around the Okinawa Trough. The width of the zone affected by back-arc extension (defined as Greater Okinawa Trough) is larger than the present Okinawa Trough, whose width is 200–250 km. The present form of the Greater Okinawa Trough started to form at the same time as that of the Okinawa Trough. 相似文献

Abstract. In the callianassid shrimp Nihonotrypaea harmandi (Bouvier 1901), the trichomycete fungus Enteromyces callianassae Lichtwardt 1961 occurs exclusively on the foregut lining. The enzymes from both the shrimp and the fungus apparently hydrolyze certain nitrogen and carbon compounds in detritus. The activities of various proteases and carbohydrases contained in the foregut juice were compared between fungus-infected shrimps collected from a sandflat in Kyushu, Japan (51 % infection rate) and uninfected shrimps from a nearby sandflat. The concentration of enzymatically hydrolyzable amino acids (EHAA) in sediment liberated by the foregut juice with fungi was slightly lower than that by 0.1 mg·ml-1 proteinase-K and significantly higher than that by the foregut juice without fungi. In both foregut juices, substantial enzyme activities were recorded for proteinase(s), peptidases, amylase, cellulase and β-1,3-glucanase, and minimal ones for maltase and cellobiase. Of the commercial substrates examined, only in the case of the mixture of 16 kinds of dipeptides was a significantly higher enzyme activity in the foregut juice with fungi observed. In the process of EHAA liberation from sediment, peptidases secreted by the fungus most probably act as a supplement to the endogenous secretion by the shrimp. This may explain the higher shrimp growth rate recorded for the population with fungi. However, the significantly higher sediment EHAA concentration of the sandflat inhabited by this population versus the population without fungi could be another crucial factor explaining the site difference in shrimp growth rate. 相似文献

In the previous paper (Toba and Murakami, 1998) we reported on an unusual path of the Kuroshio Current System, which occurred in April 1997 (April 1997 event), using the Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner (OCTS) data of the Advanced Earth Observing Satellite (ADEOS). The April 1997 event was characterized by the flow of the Kuroshio along the western slope (northward) and the eastern slope (southward) of the Izu-Ogasawara Ridge, a very southerly turning point at about 32°N, followed by a straight northward path up to 37°N of the Kuroshio Extension along the eastern flank of the Izu-Ogasawara and the Japan Trenches. Overlaying of depth contours on ADEOS-OCTS chlorophyll-a images at the April 1997 event demonstrates the bottom topography effects on the current paths. A new finding based on TOPEX/Poseidon altimeter data is that the sea-surface gradient across the Kuroshio/Kuroshio Extension diminished greatly in the sea area southeast of the central Japan, as a very temporary phenomenon prior to this event. This temporary diminishing of the upper-ocean current velocity might have caused a stronger bottom effect along the Izu-Ogasawara Ridge, and over the Izu-Ogasawara Trench disclosed a weak background, barotropic trench-flank current pattern, which existed otherwise independently of the Kuroshio Extension. The very southerly path of the Kuroshio Extension from winter 1996 to autumn 1998 corresponded, with a time lag of about 1.5 years, to the previous La Niña tendency with weaker North Equatorial Current. The geomorphology and related geostructures in the region of the dun valleys in Nepal (e.g. the Deukhuri Dun, the Chitwan Dun, the Hetauda Dun and the Trijuga Dun) have been surveyed in order to understand the neotectonics along the Himalayan front. The sub-Himalayan intermontane basins developed as piggyback basins located on the thrust-sheet of the Himalaya Front Fault (HFF equivalent to the Frontal Churia Thrust, the Main Siwalik Thrust or the Main Frontal Thrust). Each piggyback basin is a result of the north-northeast–south-southwest crustal shortening between the Indian Shield and the Himalayas. The evolution of the dun valleys is recorded as current reversals between the Upper Siwalik Group and the basin fills. The Upper Siwalik Group formed as piedmont alluvial fans distributed along the foot of the Lesser Himalaya and/or the Inner Churia Range, and show predominantly southerly current directions. In contrast, the basin fills distributed along the southern margin of the dun valleys formed by north-flowing drainage systems. The oldest basin fills of the piggyback basins appear to have commenced by the middle Pleistocene in the Deukhuri Dun and the Chitwan Dun, by the late Pleistocene in the Hetauda Dun, and by the latest Pleistocene in the Trijuga Dun. The diachronous evolution of the dun valleys suggest that the morphogenesis of the HFF zone was controlled by west-to-east propagation in late Quaternary time. These morphotectonics suggest the oblique-slip thrusting of the HFF zone which can be related to the oblique convergence between the Indian Shield and the Himalayas, and/or the counter-clockwise rotation of the Indian Subcontinent. 相似文献

Large earthquakes at shallow depths commonly excite long-period ground motions in distant sedimentary basins, thereby inflicting
damage upon large-scale structures. For example, the 2003 Tokachi-oki earthquake, Japan, damaged oil tanks in the Yufutsu
Basin, located 250 km from the epicenter. Similar long-range effects were also observed during the 2004 earthquake off Kii
Peninsula, Japan. In this study, we present the results of simulations of these earthquakes undertaken using the finite element
method (FEM) with a voxel mesh. In addition, to examine whether the 1906 San Francisco earthquake excited long-period ground
motions in the Los Angeles-area basins, we performed long-period ground motion simulations of most of the California region.

Type 3 chondrites are subdivided into 3.0–3.9. Subtype 3.0 chondrites nearly preserve all of their primitive features. Many criteria have been proposed to distinguish such primitive chondrites. Here, we compiled mineral data and reconsider the petrologic classification criteria for subtype 3.0. Chondrites are classified into subtypes by the minor element distribution of olivine and textural and chemical features of Fe-Ni metal. The []Si4O8 and MgO components of feldspar also distinguish subtype 3.0 from subtypes ≥3.1. Other features, such as the occurrence of near pure chromite, are also indicators of subtype 3.0. It is difficult to distinguish between subtypes 3.0 and ≤2.9 based on mineral chemistry. Therefore, we propose the following criteria to distinguish between subtypes 3.0 and ≤2.9. In type 3.0 chondrites, major silicate (olivine, pyroxene, and plagioclase), oxide, metal, and sulfide minerals do not show aqueous alteration features. Melilite, anorthite, and glass show no or mild aqueous alteration features. Subtype 3.0 has not been identified in all chondrite groups. The absence of subtype 3.0 from some groups mainly reflects differences in the degrees of secondary parent body processes among the chondrite groups. 相似文献

At a time when the concept of ‘human and environmental symbiosis’ has taken on much significance, protection of suburban forests
(i.e. forests adjacent to or near developed areas) is a topic that has drawn much attention. Suburban forests have, since
ancient times, been places where people have gathered firewood and cultured trees. As a result, the vegetation of suburban
forests is only partially natural and continues to change as the forms of human activity in and around them changes. Accurate
forecasts of how suburban forests will change are, therefore, an important element in the debate over how to protect them.
In this study, a suburban forest was analyzed with laser radar sensing, multi-spectrum scanning, digital photogrammetry analysis,
aerial photograph interpretation, and a field survey. Data gathered using these techniques were compiled on a GIS to forecast
future changes in the forest. Aerial photographs taken over the past 50 years were analyzed to illuminate changes in the forest
over that period. Specifically, comparisons of precise Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) measured by using digital photogrammetry
workstations made it possible to estimate growth in forest height. The possible future conversion of such results to estimates
of amounts of carbon dioxide consolidated by forests should be very significant for discussions of global environmental problems.

针对日益增多的多传感器不同分辨率的遥感数字图像数据,提出其综合利用和尺度转换的有效方法。其中,作为尺度上推 (scaling-up) 技术,本研究选择IHS和小波分解变换两种数据融合方法,应用Landsat ETM+数据和IRS-1C数据进行了实例研究。发现: IHS方法操作简单,对两种待融合的图像的像元大小和像元数 (bit数) 的依赖不是很高,而对原始图像光谱信息的依赖很高,因此适用于不同传感器之间的数据融合上,其缺点就是不能够更多的保留原始多光谱数据的光谱信息。小波分解变换 (WD) 方法可以很好地保留多光谱传感器的所有光谱信息,但是在重采样中对两种待融合的图像的像元配准的要求很高,因此比较适合于对同一传感器的多光谱数据与全色光谱数据的融合上。作为尺度下退 (scaling-down) 技术,通过探讨将札幌野外实验站点数据镶嵌到高时间分辨率遥感图像的问题,提出像元级尺度扩展的具体操作方法和对NDVI图像进行扩展时出现混合像元的识别方法。应用AVHRR, MODIS, ETM+和ASTER的NDVI图像数据进行了像元尺度的扩展研究。得出: 对不同传感器的不同分辨率的数据之间进行像元级的尺度扩展后,能够较好地识别出不同地物的分布边界,较好的分辨混合像元,因此其结果可用于对不同地物分布特征的分类研究或土地覆盖变化中的时间序列变化的研究中。 相似文献

This study discusses the reproducibility of a numerical model for simulating the morphodynamics involved in the transport of large pieces of wood in a braided river, considering the root wad effect and jam formation. The developed numerical model can simulate the behaviour of large pieces of wood using a two-dimensional depth-averaged Eulerian flow model that calculates the water flow and bed morphology. A Lagrange-type wood transport model is used herein, and the applicability of the combined model is discussed through a comparison with obtained experimental results. From the simulation results, we calculate the total braiding index and estimate the deposition patterns of wood pieces for comparison with the experimental results. We then analyse the bed morphology responses and wood deposition patterns in terms of the root wad effect and input supply. Moreover, we discuss the advantages and limitations of the proposed model to predict the large wood dynamics considering the bed morphology. © 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Pollution of petroleum hydrocarbons, in particular oil spills, has attracted much attention in the past and recent decades. Oil spills influence natural microbial community, and physical and chemical properties of the affected sites. The biodegradation of hydrocarbons by microorganisms is one of the primary ways by which oil spill is eliminated from contaminated sites. One such spill was that of the Russian tanker the Nakhodka that spilled heavy oil into the Sea of Japan on January 2, 1997. The impact of the Nakhodka oil spill resulted in a viscous sticky fluid fouling the shores and affected natural ecosystems. This paper describes the weathering of hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria (genus Pseudomonas) and crystallized organic compounds from the Nakhodka oil spill-polluted seashores after nine years. The Nakhodka oil has hardened and formed crust of crystalline paraffin wax as shown by XRD analysis (0.422, 0.377, and 0.250 nm d-spacing) in association with graphite and calcite after 9 years of bioremediation. Anaerobic reverse side of the oil crust contained numerous coccus typed bacteria associated with halite. The finding of hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria and paraffin wax in the oil crust may have a significant effect on the weathering processes of the Nakhodka oil spill during the 9- year bioremediation. 相似文献
