Parasite species have been widely used as fish host migration tag or as indicators of local pollution. In this paper our approach is to consider the entire parasite community as a biological indicator of the fish environmental conditions. Seven fish species belonging to the Apogonidae, Apogon bandanensis, A. cookii, A. doderleini, A. norfolkensis, A. trimaculatus, Cheilodipterus quinquelineatus and Fowleria variegata, were sampled on six stations in two bays (Grand-Rade and Sainte-Marie) around Nouméa (New-Caledonia). The two bays are submitted to urban wastewater inputs alone or combined with additional industrial inputs which influences decrease from the inner part to the entrance of each bay. A total of 592 fish were dissected for macro parasite examination. Parasites were grouped according to their taxonomical rank and development stage for the analysis. We found an inconsistent effect of the confinement between the two bays, revealing that the parasite community is not the same in the two bays. Moreover, the encysted metacercariae found in the pericardic cavity were found to be significant indicators of the specific anthropogenically impacted environmental conditions prevailing in the inner parts of the two bays. Other parasite taxa were found to be significant indicators of specific environmental conditions in one or two stations among the six sampled. Results on parasite specificity and biological life cycle of the parasite taxa found in sampled Apogonid were further compared with environmental parameters. 相似文献

We compared below-canopy and open-site climatic conditions for 14 different forest sites in Switzerland and analysed the forest influence on local summer and winter climate according to the forest type (coniferous, mixed, deciduous), soil type, slope orientation, basal area and tree height. We compared below-canopy and open-field data for minimum, maximum and daily mean temperature, relative humidity, maximum and daily mean photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and wind speed from 1998 to 2007. We found clear differences between below-canopy and open-field temperatures, humidity, wind speed and PAR and could relate them to the specific site conditions and forest type. The forest influence on PAR and maximum temperature is clearly determined by the forest type, whereas the influence on minimum temperature is affected by both forest type and slope orientation and impact on humidity depends on the soil type. GOLF in-flight commissioning and calibration was carried out during the first four months, most of which represented the cruise
phase of SOHO towards its final L1 orbit. The initial performance of GOLF is shown to be within the design specification,
for the entire instrument as well as for the separate sub-systems. Malfunctioning of the polarising mechanisms after 3 to
4 months operation has led to the adoption of an unplanned operating sequence in which these mechanisms are no longer used.
This mode, which measures only the blue wing of the solar sodium lines, detracts little from the detection and frequency measurements
of global oscillations, but does make more difficult the absolute velocity calibration, which is currently of the order of
20%. Data continuity in the new mode is extremely high and the instrument is producing exceptionally noise-free p-mode spectra.
The data set is particularly well suited to the study of effects due to the excitation mechanism of the modes, leading to
temporal variations in their amplitudes. The g modes have not yet been detected in this limited data set. In the present mode
of operation, there are no indications of any degradation which would limit the use of GOLF for up to 6 years or more. 相似文献

When studying hydrological processes with a numerical model, global sensitivity analysis (GSA) is essential if one is to understand the impact of model parameters and model formulation on results. However, different definitions of sensitivity can lead to a difference in the ranking of importance of the different model factors. Here we combine a fuzzy performance function with different methods of calculating global sensitivity to perform a multi‐method global sensitivity analysis (MMGSA). We use an application of a finite element subsurface flow model (ESTEL‐2D) on a flood inundation event on a floodplain of the River Severn to illustrate this new methodology. We demonstrate the utility of the method for model understanding and show how the prediction of state variables, such as Darcian velocity vectors, can be affected by such a MMGSA. We point out a strong time evolution of the mass-to-light conversion factor, η, commonly used to estimate masses of unresolved star clusters from observed cluster spectrophotometric measures. We present a series of gas-dynamical models, coupled with the Cambridge stellar evolution tracks, to compute line-of-sight velocity dispersions and half-light radii weighted by the luminosity. We explore a range of initial conditions, varying in turn the cluster mass and/or density, and the stellar population’s initial mass function. We find that η, and hence the estimated cluster mass, may increase by as much as a factor of three over time-scales of 50 million yr. We apply these results to an hypothetic cluster mass distribution function (d.f.), and show that the d.f. shape may be strongly affected at the low-mass end by this effect. Fitting truncated isothermal (Michie–King) models to the projected light profile leads to over-estimates of the concentration parameter, c, of δ c≈0.3 compared to the same functional fit applied to the projected mass density. 相似文献

External suffusion, as selective erosion of fine particles through the contact with a coarser layer and moving away, is an
important phenomenon in dams which may lead to their failure. To study the initiation of external suffusion, caused by water
level increase upstream the dam, a series of experimental investigations were conducted on laboratory-scale model, in the
hydrodynamic laboratory of école polytechnique de Montreal. On the built model, clay/moraine formed the core, sand was used
as a filter and gravel performed the role of the pervious layer. Several different models (in geometry and constituent materials)
were built and subjected to the water level increase upstream, which resulted in changes in the hydraulic gradient. The results
showed no evidence of considerable suffusion on the clay/moraine and sand interface, while the visual and quantitative data
show the presence of suffusion on the sand and gravel interface. The results of the experiments show that, when focusing on
the critical hydraulic gradient that initiates the movement of the clay/moraine particles, it can be concluded that despite
the differences in test conditions, the critical hydraulic gradient has approximately the same value in all cases. It was
also shown that increasing the length of the filter layer or applying stair-like slopes does not have great impacts on the
initiation of suffusion, whereas the gravel-size distribution has a great impact on the erosion rate. 相似文献
