A large sample of Be stars has been studied spectrophotometrically in the visible region. The continuum energy distribution data for 23 Be stars included in the list of Harmanecet al. (1983) are presented and discussed in the wavelength range 3200 Å–8000 Å. For 15 Be stars the observations reported in the present work are new. By comparing the observed continua with models, the effective temperatures of these stars have been estimated. It is found that, in general, Be stars have lower effective temperature than the corresponding normal B stars. The present study shows that the early-Be stars (B0–B5) possess near-ultraviolet and near-infrared excess emissions more frequently than the late-Be stars (B5–B9). The seven new Be stars are detected to show pole-on characteristics. 相似文献

The integratedUBV characteristics of 50 galactic clusters, computed for the clusters' physical members only (segregated on the basis of the proper motions or radial velocities) are discussed.On the basis of a comparison between the empirically-obtained dependences and their theoretical counterparts (Searleet al., 1973) a suggestion has been made that the number of the massive stars (with masses>10M
) in the initial mass function must be considerably greater.Evolutionary effects on integrated parameters and their dependences have been discussed. The continuum emission of an X1 flare on 26 March, 1970 observed close to the solar limb (N 05 E 64) was analyzed by a photometric determination of the contrast I()/I
0() in the wavelength range 3558–5920 Å. Two possible mechanisms for the emission were investigated, namely hydrogen Paschen and H– continua. We show the unlikeness of the Paschen possibility and derive strong constraints on the temperature structure and energy deposition mechanism imposed by the H– continuum process.We conclude that the emission must have originated in deep atmospheric layers. The relevance of this result with respect to flare energy release and transport processes is also discussed. 相似文献

Corotating solar wind streams emanating from stable coronal structures provide an unique opportunity to compare the response of planetary ionospheres to the energy conveyed in the streams. For recurrent solar conditions the signal propagating outward along spiral paths in interplanetary space can at times exhibit rather similar content at quite different downstream locations in the ecliptic plane. Using solar wind measurements from plasma detectors on ISEE-3, Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) and Helios-A, as well as in-situ ion composition measurements from Bennett Ion Mass Spectrometers on the Atmosphere Explorer-E and PVO spacecraft, corotating stream interactions are examined at Earth and Venus. During May–July 1979 a sequence of distinct, recurrent coronal regions developed at the Sun. Analysis of these regions and the associated solar wind characteristics indicates a corrresponding sequence of corotating streams, identifiable over wide distances. The time series of solar wind velocity variations observed at Earth, Venus, and the Helios-A positions during June–July attests to intervals of corotating stream propagation. The characteristics of the stream which passed Earth on July 3, are observed at Helios-A and at Venus (PVO) about 8 days later, consistent with the spiral path propagation delay times between the locations in the ecliptic plane. On July 3, Earth and Venus have a wide azimuthal separation of about 142 . Although the planetary environments are distinctly different, pronounced and somewhat analagous ionospheric responses to the stream passage are observed at both Earth and Venus. The response to the intercepted stream is consistent with independent investigations which have shown that the variability of the solar wind momentum flux is an important factor in the solar wind-ionosphere interaction at both planets. 相似文献

p. High-amplitude ( 50), mean-amplitude (24) and low-amplitude ( 12) disturbances are caused by solar flares of importance 1, coronal holes, and filament cavities, respectively. The light curves of soft X-ray lines, observed by the Flat Crystal Spectrometer on Solar Maximum Mission during eight solar flares are modeled to determine the plasma temperature and emission measure as functions of time using the method first presented by Bornmann (1985, Paper I), but modified to include a 2 search routine. With this modification the technique becomes more general, more accurate, and applicable throughout the gradual phase of the flare. The model reproduces the light curves of the soft X-ray lines throughout these flares. Model fits were repeated for each flare using five different sets of published line emissivity calculations. The emissivities of Mewe and Gronenschild (1981) consistenly gave the best fits to the observed light curves for each flare. 相似文献

By a rescalation of the scalar field ? of the Jordan-Brans and Dicke cosmology, the general solutions of the Friedmannian ‘vacuum’ Universe are obtained. Only the flat space solution was previously known. Each solution is caracterized by the sign of the second time derivative of the rescaled field ψ≡?R 3 (R being the scale factor of the Robertson-Walker line-element): \(\ddot \psi\) = 0 (flat space), \(\ddot \psi\) < 0 (closed space), and \(\ddot \psi\) > 0 (open space), so that the solutions are mutually exclusive. Of these, the open space one is damped-oscillatory andR attains its absolute minimum, equal to zero, in only one of the two ‘extreme’ cycles. Otherwise,R min remains positive. If the ?-field is dominant near the singularity, these solutions may have physical significance. Also obtained, by the method mentioned above, is the general flat space solution for a ‘dust’ Universe and from it a closed space ‘dust’ solution. Exact solutions have been obtained for a massive fluid sphere under the extreme causality condition (dP/dρ)=1. Radial pulsational stability of these structures has been discussed. It is found that for pulsationally stable configurations the surface to central density ratio is greater than 0.30, the maximum values for surface and central redshifts are 0.85 and 3.40 respectively in the extreme case, and the maximum mass and size are respectively 4.8M ⊙ and 20.1 km. It has also been shown that these structures are gravitationally bound, with a maximum binding energy per unit rest mass equal to 0.25 for a surface to central density ratio ?0.40. Slow rotation of these configurations has also been considered, and the relative drag and moment of inertia have been calculated. These results have been applied to the Crab pulsar and the mass of the pulsar has also been calculated based upon this model. 相似文献
