We obtained constraints on the luminosity of the central source in SNR 1987 A using XMM-Newton and INTEGRAL data. XMM-Newton yields an upper limit on the SNR luminosity in the 2–10 keV energy band, LX ? 5 × 1034 erg s?1. Since the optical depth of the envelope is still large in the XMM-Newton energy band, this constraint carries no useful information about the luminosity of the central source. The optical depth is expected to be small in the hard (20–200 keV) X-ray band of the IBIS telescope aboard the INTEGRAL observatory. We detected no statistically significant emission from SNR 1987 A in the INTEGRAL data and obtained an upper limit of LX ? 1.1 × 1036 erg s?1 on the luminosity of the central source in the 20–60 keV band. We also obtained an upper limit on the mass of radioactive 44Ti, M(44Ti) ? 10?3M⊙. 相似文献

We have extend Stormer’s problem considering four magnetic dipoles in motion trying to justify the phenomena of extreme “orderlines”
such as the ones observed in the rings of Saturn; the aim is to account the strength of the Lorentz forces estimating that
the Lorentz field, co-acting with the gravity field of the planet, will limit the motion of all charged particles and small
size grains with surface charges inside a layer of about 200 m thickness as that which is observed in the rings of Saturn.
For this purpose our interest feast in the motion of charged particles with neglected mass where only electromagnetic forces
accounted in comparison to the weakness of the Newtonian fields. This study is particularly difficult because in the regions
we investigate these motions there is enormous three dimensional instability. Following the Poincare’s hypothesis that periodic
solutions are ‘dense’ in the set of all solutions in Hamiltonian systems we try to calculate many families of periodic solutions
and to study their stability. In this work we prove that in this environment charged particles can trace planar symmetric
periodic orbits. We discuss these orbits in details and we give their symplectic relations using the Hamiltonian formulation
which is related to the symplectic matrix. We apply numerical procedures to find families of these orbits and to study their
stability. Moreover we give the bifurcations of these families with families of planar asymmetric periodic orbits and families

A new method for the determination of the proximity effects and gravity darkening exponents in contact binaries of W UMa type
is presented. The method is based on Kopal’s method of Fourier analysis of the light changes of eclipsing variables in the
Frequency Domain. The method was applied to 36 W UMa systems for which geometric and photometric elements have been derived

Observed solar, interplanetary and geomagnetic time series contain quasi periodicities on scales of 1–2.5 years. The further discovery of 1.3 year fluctuations in helioseismic observations suggests that a variety of signals may be related to the underlying dynamo in the Sun. We use independent component analysis to study the temporal and spatial variations of a few statistically independent global modes of the axisymmetric solar magnetic field over a period of 25 years. Five modes capture the salient properties of the data. Two modes describe the polar and high latitude fields, and present 1–1.5 year quasi periodicities. The other three modes correspond to low and mid-latitude phenomena and show both 1.3 and 1.7-year variations. By comparing the characteristic time scales, dates of occurrence and heliocentric latitudes of these modes, we connect them to their manifestations in heliospheric time series. 相似文献

We report multicolour photometric observations of the 2003 eclipse of the long-period (5.6 yr) eclipsing binary EE Cep. Measurements
were obtained with ten telescopes at eight observatories in four countries. In most cases, UBV(RI)C broad band filters have been used. The light curve shape shows that the obscuring body is an almost dark disk around a low-luminosity
central object. However, variations of the colour indices during the eclipse indicate that the obscuring body emits a considerable

Observations of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) with coronagraphs are subject to a projection effect, which results in statistical
errors in many properties of CMEs, such as the eruption speed and the angular width. In this paper, we develop a method to
obtain the velocity and angular width distributions of CMEs corrected for the projection effect, and then re-examine the relationship
between CMEs and the associated flares. We find that (1) the mean eruption speed is 792 km s−1 and the mean angular width is 59∘, compared to the values of 549 km s−1 and 77∘, respectively before the correction; (2) after the correction, the weak correlation between CME speeds and the GOES X-ray
peak flux of the flares gets unexpectedly poorer; and (3) before correction, there is a weak correlation between the angular
width and the speed of CMEs, whereas the correlation is absent after the correction. 相似文献
