The growing use of crowdsourced geographic information (CGI) has prompted the employment of several methods for assessing information quality, which are aimed at addressing concerns on the lack of quality of the information provided by non‐experts. In this work, we propose a taxonomy of methods for assessing the quality of CGI when no reference data are available, which is likely to be the most common situation in practice. Our taxonomy includes 11 quality assessment methods that were identified by means of a systematic literature review. These methods are described in detail, including their main characteristics and limitations. This taxonomy not only provides a systematic and comprehensive account of the existing set of methods for CGI quality assessment, but also enables researchers working on the quality of CGI in various sources (e.g., social media, crowd sensing, collaborative mapping) to learn from each other, thus opening up avenues for future work that combines and extends existing methods into new application areas and domains. 相似文献

A geophysical perspective based on well-acquired gravity, magnetic, and radiometric data provides good insights into the basin architectural elements and tectonic evolution of the Rio do Peixe Basin (RPB), an Early Cretaceous intracontinental basin in the northeast Brazilian rift system, which developed during the opening of the South Atlantic. NW–SE-trending extensional forces acting over an intensively deformed Precambrian basement yielded a composite basin architecture strongly controlled by preexisting, mechanically weak fault zones in the upper crust. Reactivated NE–SW and E–W ductile shear zones of Brasiliano age (0.6 Ga) divided the RPB into three asymmetrical half-grabens (Brejo das Freiras, Sousa, and Pombal subbasins), separated by basement highs of granite bodies that seem to anchor and distinguish the mechanical subsidence of the subbasins. Radiometric and geopotential field data highlight the relationship between the tectonic stress field and the role of a preexisting structural framework inserted in the final rift geometry. The up-to-2000 m thick half-grabens are sequentially located at the inflexion of sigmoidal-shaped shear zones and acquire a typical NE–SW-oriented elliptic shape. The Sousa Subbasin is the single exception. Because of its uncommon E–W elongated form, three-dimensional gravity modeling reveals an E–W axis of depocenters within the Sousa Subbasin framework, in which the eastern shoulders are controlled by NE–SW-trending faults. These faults belong to the Precambrian structural fabric, as is well illustrated by the gamma ray and magnetic signatures of the basement grain. Release faults were identified nearly perpendicular or oblique to master faults, forming marginal strike ramps and horst structures in all subbasins. The emplacement mechanism of Brasiliano granites around the RPB was partially oriented by the same structural framework, as is indicated by the gravity signature of the granitic bodies after removal of the gravity effect of the basin-filling deposits. The RPB major-fault occurrence along the releasing bend of a strong discontinuity – the so-called Portalegre Shear Zone – in addition to the configuration of a gentle crustal thinning, according to gravity field studies, suggests that a crustal discontinuity governs the nucleation of the RPB, followed probably by small displacement in deep crustal levels accommodating low-rate stretching during basin subsidence. 相似文献

The emplacement of an obsidian dyke through thin ice: Hrafntinnuhryggur, Krafla Iceland 总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
An eruption along a 2.5 km-long rhyolitic dyke at Krafla volcano, northern Iceland during the last glacial period formed a ridge of obsidian (Hrafntinnuhryggur). The ridge rises up to 80 m above the surrounding land and is composed of a number of small-volume lava bodies with minor fragmental material. The total volume is < 0.05 km3. The lava bodies are flow- or dome-like in morphology and many display columnar-jointed sides typical of magma–ice interaction, quench-fragmented lower margins indicative of interaction with meltwater and pumiceous upper surfaces typical of subaerial obsidian flows. The fragmental material compromises poorly-sorted perlitic quench hyaloclastites and poorly-exposed pumiceous tuffs. Lava bodies on the western ridge flanks are columnar jointed and extensively hydrothermally altered. At the southern end of the ridge the feeder dyke is exposed at an elevation 95 m beneath the ridge crest and flares upwards into a lava body.Using the distribution of lithofacies, we interpret that the eruption melted through ice only 35–55 m thick, which is likely to have been dominated by firn. Hrafntinnuhryggur is therefore the first documented example of a rhyolitic fissure eruption beneath thin ice/firn. The eruption breached the ice, leading to subaerial but ice/firn-contact lava effusion, and only minor explosive activity occurred. The ridge appears to have been well-drained during the eruption, aided by the high permeability of the thin ice/firn, which appears not to have greatly affected the eruption mechanisms. We estimate that the eruption lasted between 2 and 20 months and would not have generated a significant jökulhlaup (< 70 m3 s− 1). 相似文献

This paper introduces a new geostatistical model for counting data under a space-time approach using nonhomogeneous Poisson processes, where the random intensity process has an additive formulation with two components: a Gaussian spatial component and a component accounting for the temporal effect. Inferences of interest for the proposed model are obtained under the Bayesian paradigm. To illustrate the usefulness of the proposed model, we first develop a simulation study to test the efficacy of the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method to generate samples for the joint posterior distribution of the model’s parameters. This study shows that the convergence of the MCMC algorithm used to simulate samples for the joint posterior distribution of interest is easily obtained for different scenarios. As a second illustration, the proposed model is applied to a real data set related to ozone air pollution collected in 22 monitoring stations in Mexico City in the 2010 year. The proposed geostatistical model has good performance in the data analysis, in terms of fit to the data and in the identification of the regions with the highest pollution levels, that is, the southwest, the central and the northwest regions of Mexico City. 相似文献

The Upper Barremian to Aptian Almadich Formation (Inner Prebetic Domain of the Betic Cordillera) is composed of hemipelagic sediments deposited on a distal carbonate ramp in the southern Iberian Palaeomargin. Within this facies we have found a thick interval of blue to black shales and marls that is interpreted as deposited under oxygen-depleted conditions. We think that this interval, dated as early Aptian, represents the local record of Ocean Anoxic Event 1a. The integrated biostratigraphic analysis of a section in the Almadich Formation, by means of planktonic foraminifera, calcareous nannofossils and ammonites, enables us to recognize most of the biostratigraphic units based on these three fossil groups and to correlate between them. The Sartousiana, Sarasini, Weissi, Deshayesi and Furcata (ammonite) Zones were identified for the Upper Barremian–Lower Aptian interval. By means of calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphy the Micrantholithus hoschulzii, Hayesites irregularis and Rhagodiscus angustus Zones, plus several additional biohorizons, were identified. A quantitative study performed on a set of 27 Lower Aptian samples has enabled the precise identification of the ‘nannoconid crisis’, the lower limit of which clearly precedes the main anoxic event, and its correlation with other bioevents. Planktonic foraminifera occur consistently throughout the Lower to Upper Aptian of the Cau section and are moderately well preserved. This fact allows us to use the most recent taxonomic framework, based on wall texture, to identify the Blowiella blowi, Schackoina cabri, Globigerinelloides ferreolensis, Globigerinelloides algerianus, Hedbergella trocoidea andTicinella bejaouaensis Zones. Coincident with the anoxic episode, the planktonic foraminiferal assemblages are composed of a significant number of forms with elongated chambers and/or tubulospines assigned to the genera Claviblowiella,Lilliputianella , Leupoldina and Schackoina. Pit lakes form when open-pit mining operations are discontinued and dewatering ceases. The increase in open-pit metal mining
since the 1970s will lead to the formation of numerous pit lakes over the next 50 years. Many of these lakes will develop
acid sulfate conditions with high levels of dissolved metals. Approaches to remediation of these conditions that have been
recommended include the addition of lime or other alkaline materials and the stimulation of sulfate-reducing bacteria. However,
prevention rather than remediation is probably the preferable approach. Measures to prevent oxidation of mining waste and
wall rocks, including measures to fill pits quickly with water, to inhibit the activity of acidophilic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria,
and to promote anoxic conditions at the lake bottoms may minimize the formation of acids and dissolved metals.

Magnetic fields play an important role in astrophysics and they often dominate the behavior of magnetized media. We simulate
the mechanism (Tagger et al., 1995) by which turbulence in a weakly ionized plasma, as it cascades to the ambipolar scale
(where the neutrals are imperfectly coupled to the ions) leads to a filamentation of the magnetic flux tubes: the turbulent
velocity of the neutrals is higher in the more ionized regions, because they are better coupled to the ions. This results
in a non-linear ponderomotive (<v.∇ v>) force driving them out of the ionized regions, so that the initial ionization inhomogeneities
are strongly amplified. This effect causes the ions and magnetic field to condense and separate from the neutrals, resulting
in a filamentary structure. We present the first results of a 2-D, 2-fluid (ions and neutrals) simulation, where a magnetized,
weakly ionized plasma is submitted to turbulence in the ambipolar frequency range. We discuss the efficiency of this mechanism,
the filamentary structure it should produce, and its relevance to the astrophysical context.
