Coronal expansion and the transfer of solar angular momentum to the interplanetary space

We discuss the question of loss of angular momentum through coronal expansion. From a large volume of data on Type-1 cometary tails we have confirmed the presence of a tangential component in the coronal expansion, which has not only a stochastic component but also a constant component of 9.8 km/s. Through coronal expansion the Sun has lost 80% of its angular momentum since it evolved on to the main sequence and the angular velocity of the Sun is decreasing exponentially. This result should have a large effect on the dynamical evolution of the Sun.     

Aspherical accretion of cosmic strings

A simulation of accretion of a string loop has been done. It shows that aspherical accretion is essential for large-scale loops. All configurations found in the distribution of galaxies, such as filaments, pancakes, bubbles, and voids, can be formed by the accretion of cosmic strings.     

Geochemical discriminations of sandstones from the Mohe Foreland basin,northeastern China: Tectonic setting and provenance

The Mohe region near the border area of China with Russia is in Heilongjiang Province. Topographically the area consists of lower mountains or hills situated at the northern end of the Da Hinggan Mountains. 广西右江河谷2008年芒果低温寒害调查分析

通过对广西右江河谷四县(区)2008年低温期间气象要素资料、气候特点进行分析统计,结合芒果的生物学特性、物候发育期及农业气象灾害指标,探讨此次低温寒害天气对右江河谷芒果生产的影响,并提出相应的生产防御对策,以达到趋利避害.     

四川盆地普光气田上二叠统长兴组表生岩溶特征及意义*

四川盆地二叠系和三叠系的接触关系以及长兴组岩溶成因的认识,地质界一直存在较大分歧。通过野外露头、钻井、岩心、成像测井、C-O同位素等资料研究发现,普光气田长兴组发育大规模溶沟、溶洞、囊状溶洞、岩溶角砾岩;P/T界线附近长兴组溶蚀灰岩碳同位素发生严重负偏移;长兴组顶见不整合面,成像测井岩溶相带划分明显;长兴组顶部存在地层缺失。综合分析认为,普光气田长兴组发生过表生岩溶作用,长兴阶晚期重大海退事件是引起表生岩溶的主要因素。长兴组长期接受表生岩溶作用的改造,除形成台地边缘礁滩相储集层外,在礁滩欠发育的台地内部和台地前缘上斜坡等区带,是寻找不整合岩溶储集层的有利地区。     

How soil texture,channel shape and cross-sectional area affect moisture dynamics and water loss in irrigation channels

To enhance the utilization efficiency of farmland irrigation water and reduce the leakage of water conveyance channels, the leakage process of channels was simulated dynamically. The simulated results were compared with data measured in laboratory experiments, and the performance of the model was evaluated. The results indicated that the simulated values of the model were consistent with the observation values, and the R² values varied between 0.91 and 0.99. In addition, based on the laboratory experiments, a water supply system (Mariotte bottles) and soil box were built using plexiglass. Three influencing factors, namely, the channel form, soil texture and channel cross-sectional area, were varied to observe and calculate the resulting cumulative infiltration amount, infiltration rate and wetting front migration distance. HYDRUS-3D software was used to solve the three-dimensional soil water movement equation under different initial conditions. The results demonstrated that the U-shaped channel was more effective than the trapezoidal channel in increasing the utilization efficiency of the water resources. A U-shaped channel with a small channel cross-sectional area should be adopted and the soil particle size should be prioritized in the construction of water conveyance channels for farmlands. The simulation results were in agreement with the observed results, which indicates that HYDRUS-3D is a reliable tool that can accurately simulate the soil moisture movement in water conveyance channels. The research results can provide a reference for the design and operation of farmland irrigation systems.
