We use a secular representation to describe the long-term dynamics of transneptunian objects in mean-motion resonance with Neptune. The model applied is thoroughly described in Saillenfest et al. (Celest Mech Dyn Astron, doi: 10.1007/s10569-016-9700-5, 2016). The parameter space is systematically explored, showing that the secular trajectories depend little on the resonance order. High-amplitude oscillations of the perihelion distance are reported and localised in the space of the orbital parameters. In particular, we show that a large perihelion distance is not a sufficient criterion to declare that an object is detached from the planets. Such a mechanism, though, is found unable to explain the orbits of Sedna or \(2012\text {VP}_{113}\), which are insufficiently inclined (considering their high perihelion distance) to be possibly driven by such a resonant dynamics. The secular representation highlights the existence of a high-perihelion accumulation zone due to resonances of type 1:k with Neptune. That region is found to be located roughly at \(a\in [100;300]\) AU, \(q\in [50;70]\) AU and \(I\in [30;50]^{\circ }\). In addition to the flux of objects directly coming from the Scattered Disc, numerical simulations show that the Oort Cloud is also a substantial source for such objects. Naturally, as that mechanism relies on fragile captures in high-order resonances, our conclusions break down in the case of a significant external perturber. The detection of such a reservoir could thus be an observational constraint to probe the external Solar System. 相似文献

New insights into Late Pleistocene explosive volcanic activity and caldera formation on Ischia (southern Italy) 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:1
A new pyroclastic stratigraphy is presented for the island of Ischia, Italy, for the period ∼75–50 ka BP. The data indicate
that this period bore witness to the largest eruptions recorded on the island and that it was considerably more volcanically
active than previously thought. Numerous vents were probably active during this period. The deposits of at least 10 explosive
phonolite to basaltic-trachyandesite eruptions are described and interpreted. They record a diverse range of explosive volcanic
activity including voluminous fountain-fed ignimbrite eruptions, fallout from sustained eruption columns, block-and-ash flows,
and phreatomagmatic eruptions. Previously unknown eruptions have been recognised for the first time on the island. Several
of the eruptions produced pyroclastic density currents that covered the whole island as well as the neighbouring island of
Procida and parts of the mainland. The morphology of Ischia was significantly different to that seen today, with edifices
to the south and west and a submerged depression in the centre. The largest volcanic event, the Monte Epomeo Green Tuff (MEGT)
resulted in caldera collapse across all or part of the island. It is shown to comprise at least two thick intracaldera ignimbrite
flow-units, separated by volcaniclastic sediments that were deposited during a pause in the eruption. Extracaldera deposits
of the MEGT include a pumice fall deposit emplaced during the opening phases of the eruption, a widespread lithic lag breccia
outcropping across much of Ischia and Procida, and a distal ignimbrite in south-west Campi Flegrei. During this period the
style and magnitude of volcanism was dictated by the dynamics of a large differentiated magma chamber, which was partially
destroyed during the MEGT eruption. This contrasts with the small-volume Holocene and historical effusive and explosive activity
on Ischia, the timing and distribution of which has been controlled by the resurgence of the Monte Epomeo block. The new data
contribute to a clearer understanding of the long-term volcanic and magmatic evolution of Ischia. 相似文献

For long deep tunnels as currently under construction through the Alps, mechanized excavation using tunnel boring machines (TBMs) contributes significantly to savings in construction time and costs. Questions are, however, posed due to the severe ground conditions which are in cases anticipated or encountered along the main tunnel alignment. A major geological hazard is the squeezing of weak rocks, but also brittle failure can represent a significant problem. For the design of mechanized tunnelling in such conditions, the complex interaction between the rock mass, the tunnel machine, its system components, and the tunnel support need to be analysed in detail and this can be carried out by three-dimensional (3D) models including all these components. However, the state-of-the-art shows that very few fully 3D models for mechanical deep tunnel excavation in rock have been developed so far. A completely three-dimensional simulator of mechanised tunnel excavation is presented in this paper. The TBM of reference is a technologically advanced double shield TBM designed to cope with both conditions. Design analyses with reference to spalling hazard along the Brenner and squeezing along the Lyon–Turin Base Tunnel are discussed. 相似文献

Abstract— Libyan Desert Glass (LDG) is an enigmatic type of glass that occurs in western Egypt in the Libyan Desert. Fairly convincing evidence exists to show that it formed by impact, although the source crater is currently unknown. Some rare samples present dark‐colored streaks with variable amounts of Fe, and they are supposed to contain a meteoritic component. We have studied the iron local environment in an LDG sample by means of Fe K‐edge highresolution X‐ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy to obtain quantitative data on the Fe oxidation state and coordination number in both the Fe‐poor matrix and Fe‐rich layers. The pre‐edge peak of the high‐resolution XANES spectra of the sample studied displays small but reproducible variations between Fe‐poor matrix and Fe‐rich layers, which is indicative of significant changes in the Fe oxidation state and coordination number. Comparison with previously obtained data for a very low‐Fe sample shows that, while iron is virtually all trivalent and in tetrahedral coordination ([4]Fe3+) in the low‐Fe sample, the sample containing the Fe‐rich layers display a mixture of tetra‐coordinated trivalent iron ([4]Fe3+) and penta‐coordinated divalent iron ([5]Fe2+), with the Fe in the Fe‐rich layer being more reduced than the matrix. From these data, we conclude the following: a) the significant differences in the Fe oxidation state between LDG and tektites, together with the wide intra‐sample variations in the Fe‐oxidation state, confirm that LDG is an impact glass and not a tektite‐like glass; b) the higher Fe content, coupled with the more reduced state of the Fe, in the Fe‐rich layers suggests that some or most of the Fe in these layers may be directly derived from the meteoritic projectile and that it is not of terrestrial origin. 相似文献

In this study, we addressed the effects of wind-induced drift on Lagrangian trajectories of surface sea objects using high-resolution ocean forecast and atmospheric data. Application of stochastic Leeway model for prediction of trajectories drift was considered for the numerical reconstruction of the Elba accident that occurred during the period 21.06.2009–22.06.2009: a person on an inflatable raft was lost in the vicinity of the Elba Island coast; from the initial position, the person on a raft drifted southwards in the open sea and later he was found on a partially deflated raft during rescue operation. For geophysical forcing, we used high-resolution currents from the Mediterranean Forecasting System and atmospheric wind from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. To investigate the effect of wind on trajectory behavior, numerical simulations were performed using different categories of drifter-like particles similar to a person on an inflatable raft. An algorithm of spatial clustering was used to differentiate the most probable search areas with a high density of particles. Our results showed that the simulation scenarios using particles with characteristics of draft-limited sea drifters provided better prediction of an observed trajectory in terms of the probability density of particles. 相似文献

The shore stranding of mesopelagic fauna is a recurrent phenomenon in the Strait of Messina (Central Mediterranean Sea). The aim of this paper is to test the influence of lunar phases, winds and seasons upon the frequency of occurrence of strandings of mesopelagic fish. Species abundance in relation to these factors was quantified for the first time. Specimens were collected stranded on the shore along the Sicilian coast of the Strait of Messina between 2008 and 2016. Overall 32 species belonging to seven families (Gonostomatidae, Microstomatidae, Myctophidae, Paralepididae, Phosichthyidae, Sternoptychidae, Stomiidae) were found stranded. Myctophidae was the family including the highest number of species (16), whereas Gonostomatidae was the most abundant in terms of total number of individuals (47.2%), mainly thanks to the species Cyclothone braueri. The moon, which influences the strength of currents (highest during full and new moon phases) and irradiance (higher in some lunar phases, such as the full moon), affected the abundance of stranded mesopelagic fish in the study area. The highest number of stranding events was recorded during the new moon: 34.6% of the total relative abundance of stranded mesopelagic fish. Wind blowing from the sea towards the coastline (southeasterly and easterly winds) created the best conditions for strandings. The paper is focused on low enthalpy geothermal exploration performed in south Italy and provides an integrated presentation of geological, hydrogeological, and geophysical surveys carried out in the area of municipality of Lecce. Geological and hydrogeological models were performed using the stratigraphical data from 51 wells. A ground-water flow (direction and velocity) model was obtained. Using the same wells data, the ground-water annual temperature was modeled. Furthermore, the ground surface temperature records from ten meteorological stations were studied. This allowed us to obtain a model related to the variations of the temperature at different depths in the subsoil. Integrated geophysical surveys were carried out in order to explore the low-enthalpy geothermal fluids and to evaluate the results of the model. Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and self-potential (SP) methods were used. The results obtained upon integrating the geophysical data with the models show a low-enthalpy geothermal resource constituted by a shallow ground-water system. 相似文献

Control of erosion, and all of its after effects, from increased surface drainage and erosion to the formation of karst, is
one of the essential problems when undertaking recultivation following necessary interventions in the sub-alpine and alpine
vegetation stage (high zones). Average slope inclinations of 30–45% in the vicinity of ski runs, and far above in areas of
natural erosion and avalanche zones, make restoration processes with sufficient erosion protection the prerequisite for success.
Only a sufficient vegetation development of more than 70% ground cover stabilises the topsoil in the long term and reduces
soil erosion to an acceptable degree. From 1999 to 2002, an international EU project with the participation of research groups
and private firms from Austria, Italy and Germany was carried out under the direction of the Agricultural Research and Education
Centre Raumberg-Gumpenstein (AREC) on five different Alpine sites at altitudes from 1,245 to 2,350 m above sea level. The
aim of the work was the formulation of practice-relevant requirements for recultivation following intervention in high zones,
especially following constructional measures in the vicinity of ski runs and lifts, torrent- and avalanche barriers. In a
statistical comparison, the relationship between restoration techniques, seed mixtures of differing ecological value and vegetation
cover was observed. The influence of application technique on erosion processes after restoration was obvious for the first
two vegetation periods. Only with the additional use of mulch covers could increase surface drainage and noticeable soil loss
be avoided. At high altitudes, the choice of seed mixture, irrespective of whether rapid or slow growing and independent of
the extent of accompanying fertilisation, had no significance in the first two vegetation periods following sowing. In the
following growing seasons, however, higher cover values were obtained with site-specific seed mixtures at three of the five
experimental sites. While few species of the commercial seed mixture showed satisfactory persistency, most of the grasses
and in particular the alpine leguminosae of site-specific seed mixtures increased their share during the observation period.
In the long-term, sufficient protection against erosion is only guaranteed by the use of stable, enduring and ecologically
