This study presents a new deterministic 3D model of the fracture zones observed in the granitic reservoir of the Soultz European geothermal project. The major fracture zones encountered around 6 wells (4550, EPS1, GPK1, GPK2, GPK3 and GPK4) consist in 53 main structures that are located and characterized in terms of size and orientation: 39 fracture zones, 8 microseismic structures and 6 structures derived from vertical seismic profiles are represented in the 3D model using Discrete Fracture Network tools of the gOcad modelling platform (Paradigm?, Earth Decision?). This work illustrates the complexity of 3D fracture zone correlation and interpretation in crystalline rock masses characterized at meter scale (borehole) and at the reservoir scale (kilometer) thanks to geophysical imaging techniques. 相似文献
Zusammenfassung Am Beispiel des Fasersteinsalzes wird untersucht, ob die Verteilung des im NaCl eingebauten Broms Rückschlüsse auf den Wachstumsvorgang und die Herkunft der für das Wachstum benötigten Lösungen zuläßt. NachSchmidt undMügge erfolgt das Wachstum der Fasern an ihrer Basis. Wenn dieser Vorgang stimmt, sollte der Br-Gehalt in den älteren Teilen des Fasersteinsalzes (in der Mitte der Kluft gelegen) niedriger sein als in den zuletzt gebildeten Partien der Kluftfüllung (an der Kluftwand gelegen). Tatsächlich konnte an dem natürlichen Fasersteinsalz festgestellt werden, daß der Br-Gehalt im Steinsalz von der Mitte der Kluft zum Rand zunimmt. Auch die Lösungszufuhr kann nach diesem Befund nur in Form von Porenlösungen aus dem Nebengestein erfolgt sein. Aus dem Br-Gehalt des Fasersteinsalzes wurde die Br-Konzentration in den Porenlösungen mit 3,5 · 10–1 Gew.- % berechnet.
Summary The distribution of bromine replacing chlorine in fibrous halite of the potash salt mine Marie Louise (Elsaß, France) was determined in order to examine the crystallisation process of this halite. The contents of bromine increase in the cleavage filling of the fibrous halite from the central part to the contact with the marl. The cause of this distribution is the growth of the fibre perpendicular to its base during the opening of the cleavage. The fibrous halite crystallizes from pore solutions originating in the marl rock. The calculation showed that the bromine content in the solution was about 0.35 wt.- %.

Die meisten Gesteine wurden von dem transamazonischen orogenen Zyklus erfa\t, dessen radiometrisches Alter etwa 2000 M. J. betrÄgt. Der etwa gleichaltrige SÃo-Francisco-Kraton in Ostbrasilien umfa\t ungefÄhr 1 Mio. qkm. Kleinere Kerne, die ebenfalls die Ereignisse des transamazonischen Zyklus' widerspiegeln, wurden nahe der Atlantikküste, östlich der Mündung des Amazonasflusses (SÃo-Luis-Kraton-Gebiet) und in der Umgebung des La-Plata-Flusses (Rio de la Plata-Kraton-Gebiet) gefunden.Die Kratone sind getrennt durch metamorphe Gürtel, die zum brasilianischen orogenen Zyklus spÄtprÄkambrischen Alters gehören. Der Caririan-Gürtel und die Sergipe-Geosynklinale liegen in der Nordostecke von Brasilien, und der Ribeira-Gürtel erstreckt sich entlang der Atlantikküste im Süden. Zwei symmetrische geosynklinale Einheiten wurden im zentralen Teil des Kontinents erkannt: der Brasilia- und der Paraguay-Araguaia-Gürtel.In den brasilianischen orogenen Gürteln treten an vielen Stellen transamazonische oder sogar Ältere Serien auf, Anzeichen für aufgearbeitetes altes Basement. Dies scheint zu zeigen, da\ die Sialkruste des südamerikanischen Kontinents vor 2000 M. J. schon eine rÄumliche Ausdehnung von mehr als 10 Mio. qkm hatte.
A general synthesis of the precambrian evolution of South America has been made with the aid of about 1500 radiometric age determinations. In Fig. 1, the position of the late precambrian orogenic belts, as well as their platforms, is tentatively outlined.The largest ancient core of the continent includes the Guyana Shield, the basement of the Amazon sedimentary basin, and the Guaporé craton, to the south, covering an area of about 4.5 million square kilometers. Most of the rocks were affected by the Trans-Amazonian orogenic cycle, whose radiometric ages are close to 2000 m. y. The SÃo Francisco craton of similar age outcrops over an area of about one million square kilometers, in eastern Brazil. Smaller ancient nucleii, also reflecting the events of the Tranz-Amazonian cycle, were found near the Atlantic coast, east of the mouth of the Amazon river (SÃo Luis cratonic area), and surrounding the La Plata river (Rio de la Plata cratonic area).The old cratonic areas are separated from each other by metamorphic belts which belong to the Brazilian orogenic cycle of late precambrian age. The Caririan belt, and the Sergipe geosyncline, occur at the northeastern corner of Brazil, and the Ribeira belt along the Atlantic coast, to the south. Two symmetrical geosynclinal units were recognized in the central part of the continent: the Brasilia and the Paraguay-Araguaia belts.Within the areas of the Brazilian orogenic belts, in many places Trans-Amazonian or even older ages occur, indicating remobilized ancient basement. This seems to demonstrate that the sialic crust of the South American continent, 2000 m. y. ago, already exhibited an areal extent of more than 10 million square kilometers.
Résumé Une synthèse générale de l'évolution précambrienne de l'Amérique du Sud a été faite à l'aide de 1500 déterminations d'âge radiométrique. La fig. 1 présente un essai sur la répartition des zones orogéniques du Précambrien supérieur et de leurs platesformes.Le noyau ancien du continent, qui est le plus vaste, comprend le bouclier de la Guyane, le socle du bassin sédimentaire de l'Amazone et le Craton de Guaporé, au Sud, couvrant une aire d'environ 4,5 millions de Km2. La plupart des roches ont été affectées par le cycle orogénique Trans-Amazonien dont l'âge radiométrique est d'environ 2000 millions. Le craton de SÃo Francisco d'âge semblable, affleure sur une étendue d'environ 1 million de Km2, dans l'Est du Brésil. Des noyaux anciens plus petits, affectés également par le cycle Trans-Amazonien, ont été trouvés près de la cÔte Atlantique, à l'Est de l'embouchure de l'Amazone (région cratonique de SÃo Luis), et aux environs du fleuve la Plata (région cratonique du Rio de la Plata).Les régions cratoniques anciennes sont séparées les unes des autres par des zones métamorphiques appartenant au cycle orogénique brésilien, d'âge Précambrien supérieur. La zone caririenne et le géosynclinal de Sergipe affleurent dans l'extrémité NE du Brésil, et la zone de Ribeira, le long de la cÔte Atlantique au S. Deux unités géosynclinales symétriques ont été reconnues dans la partie centrale du continent: les zones de Brasilia et de Paraguay-Araguaia.Dans les régions occupées par les ceintures orogéniques Brésiliennes, il existe en beaucoup d'endroits des roches d'âge Trans-Amazonien et mÊme plus ancien, indices d'un socle ancien remobilisé. Ceci semble démontrer que la croûte sialique du continent Sud Américain montrait déjà, il y a environ 2000 millions d'années, une étendue de plus de 10 millions de Km2.
The record of charcoal in lake sediments indicates that fire has always been an important ecological factor in the forest history of northeastern Minnesota. The annually laminated sediments of Lake of the Clouds permit precise dating of the charcoal peaks and record the changes in the influx of various pollen types. A detailed record of the past 1000 yr shows that the average frequency of fire is approximately 60–70 yr, with a range of about 20–100 yr. The amount of charcoal in sediments dating between 1000-500 y.a. is consistently higher than that for the last 500 yr, although the fire frequency for the two periods was not appreciably different. Pollen analysis shows no change or only short-term changes in the percentages of major pollen types following charcoal peaks. 相似文献
Gravity changes of up to 1.2 ± 0.1 mgal (1 standard deviation) were measured at three points within 400 m of an active vent on Pacaya volcano, Guatemala during eleven days of January, 1975. For five continuous days gravity varied inversely with the average muzzle velocity of ejecta, the frequency of volcanic explosions, and the frequency of volcanic earthquakes. The gravity changes are most reasonably interpreted as the product of intravolcanic movements of magma with masses one to two orders of magnitude larger than any flow ever erupted from the volcano. However, elevation changes and/or combination of elevation and mass distribution changes could also have been an important factor in effecting the observed gravity variations. Because we lack elevation control on the gravity stations, we are unable to unequivocally conclude which factor or which combination of factors produced the gravity changes. The study indicates the possibility of gravity monitoring of hazardous volcanoes as a predictive tool, and as an added means for investigating the internal mechanism of volcanic eruptions. 相似文献
Mechanisms of the opening of back-arc systems are analyzed. Limited focal mechanisms of intraplate earthquakes are used to determine the stress regime of an overriding plate. Preliminary analyses show that compressive deviatoric stresses exist in the plate except near the spreading center. Based on this observation “trench suction” does not appear to be the primary force that drives back-arc spreading, since it will result in tensional deviatoric stresses within the overriding plate. Even though “continental pull” is able to satisfy the stress requirements, it does not appear to be a likely mechanism either because of the initiation and subsequent symmetric spreading difficulty associated with such a mechanism. The mechanism we favor is the one that involves the induced convective current in the mantle wedge immediately above the slab. Calculations show that the induced flow is able to generate sufficient stress to break up the overriding lithosphere if the tectonic stresses of the region are favorable. Both trench suction and continental pull may help to provide such a favorable tectonic stress regime. 相似文献
The reaction between hydrous iron oxides and aqueous sulfide species was studied at estuarine conditions of pH, total sulfide, and ionic strength to determine the kinetics and formation mechanism of the initial iron sulfide. Total, dissolved and acid extractable sulfide, thiosulfate, sulfate, and elemental sulfur were determined by spectrophotometric methods. Polysulfides, S42? and S52?, were determined from ultraviolet absorbance measurements and equilibrium calculations, while product hydroxyl ion was determined from pH measurements and solution buffer capacity.Elemental sulfur, as free and polysulfide sulfur, was 86% of the sulfide oxidation products; the remainder was thiosulfate. Rate expressions for the reduction and precipitation reactions were determined from analysis of electron balance and acid extractable iron monosulfide vs time, respectively, by the initial rate method. The rate of iron reduction in moles/liter/minute was given by where St was the total dissolved sulfide concentration, (H+) the hydrogen ion activity, both in moles/ liter; and AFeOOH the goethite specific surface area in square meters/liter. The rate constant, k, was 0.017 ± 0.002m?2 min?1. The rate of reduction was apparently determined by the rate of dissolution of the surface layer of ferrous hydroxide. The rate expression for the precipitation reaction was where was the rate of precipitation of acid extractable iron monosulfide in moles/liter/minute, and k = 82 ± 18 mol?1l2m?2 min?1.A model is proposed with the following steps: protonation of goethite surface layer; exchange of bisulfide for hydroxide in the mobile layer; reduction of surface ferric ions of goethite by dissolved bisulfide species which produces ferrous hydroxide surface layer elemental sulfur and thiosulfate; dissolution of surface layer of ferrous hydroxide; and precipitation of dissolved ferrous specie and aqueous bisulfide ion. 相似文献
Between March 1977 and August 1979 contract No.4 of the Stadtbahnbau (Metro-construction) in Duisburg was executed, making successful use of gap freezing.
The gap freezing was necessary because the Metro-tunnel is crossed by a groundwater stream (flow velocity up to 15 m/d) and it had to be assured that open cut construction of the tunnel was possible and that the original situation could be reinstated as far as possible after completion.
The Duisburg building ground also made a special construction method necessary. Ground strata: from surface to 2–4 m, civilisation deposits; from ˜ 4 m to ≈ 25–28 m below surface, glacial sand and gravel deposits, containing stones with a diameter > 20 cm and even boulders of 1 m3 and more; from approximately 28 m below surface, layers of Tertiary clay and silt; the groundwater table is ˜ 8 m below the surface, the stream flowing within the sand and gravel deposits from SE to NW (towards the Rhine).
Installing a groundwater barrier, for instance by erecting a continuous diaphragm wall enclosure, was already ruled out in early design stages as was the use of driven steelpiles.
At the inception of the design in 1974, it was decided first to carry out a measuring scheme to establish the groundwater flow velocity. This was followed by a large scale (1:1) trial freezing to ascertain the feasibility of the gap-freezing method.
When these experiments were scientifically valued it was established, that the risk involved was acceptable. The contract documents were prepared prescribing a combination of “cover and cut” with gap-freezing, which is tentatively called the “Duisburg method of Metro-construction”.
During the construction a large scale measuring and scientific research programme was carried out. 相似文献
