Uptake and biological effects of synthetic glucocorticoids (GCs) were analyzed using common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Fish were exposed to clobetasol propionate (CP) or clobetasone butyrate (CB) individually or in mixture at 1 μg L−1 for 21 days. Bioconcentration factor (BCF) of CB was calculated as 100, and BCF of CP was less than 16. No effects were found in fish erythrocyte and leukocyte numbers and serum glucose levels after exposure to the selected GCs. On the other hand, serum concentrations of free amino acids significantly increased in GC-exposed groups. Thus, exposures to synthetic GCs at relatively low concentrations seemed to cause enhancement of protein degradation and subsequent increase of serum free amino acids without a corresponding increase in serum glucose levels, an effect which might be related to partial induction of gluconeogenesis by GC.  相似文献

The potential impacts of tsunamis along the Catalan Coast (NW Mediterranean) are analysed using numerical modelling. The region is characterized by moderate to low seismic activity and by moderate- to low-magnitude earthquakes. However, the occurrence of historical strong earthquakes and the location of several active offshore faults in front of the coast suggest that the possibility of an earthquake-triggered tsunami is not negligible although of low probability. Up to five faults have been identified to generate tsunamis, being the highest associated possible seismic magnitudes of up to 7.6. Coastal flooding and port agitation are characterized using the Worst-case Credible Tsunami Scenario Analysis approach. The results show a multiple fault source contribution to tsunami hazard. The shelf dimensions and the existence of submerged canyons control the tsunami propagation. In wide shelves, waves travelling offshore may become trapped by refraction causing the wave energy to reach the coastline at some distance from the origin. The free surface water elevation increases at the head of the canyons due to the sharp depth gradients. The effects of potential tsunamis would be very harmful in low-lying coastal stretches, such as deltas, with a high population concentration, assets and infrastructures. The Ebro delta appears to be the most exposed coast, and about the 20% of the delta surface is prone to flooding due to its extremely low-lying nature. The activity at Barcelona port will be severely affected by inflow backflow current at the entrance of up to 2 m/s.  相似文献

In the Tokyo metropolis many geological surveys are carried out in conjunction with building construction work and urban base improvement undertakings. Furthermore, the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has been conducting surveys on urban geology, land subsidence, and geodetics. Thus, ICE of TMG keeps a lot of geological data. In order to plan for a more effective use of these data, the Geotechnical Data Information System of Tokyo Metropolitan Government was organized in 1985, and since 1986, it has become fully implemented.This Geotechnical Data Information System has incorporated a relational data base into a mainframe computer, the NEC ACOS System 430, and as of March 1989 it can retrieve and graphically present borehole, deep-well, and groundwater data.The authors wish to introduce in this article the organizational structure of the Geotechnical Data Information System of TMG, a summary of the data base system, standards of input data, and applicable examples of the data base.  相似文献

A high-sensitive technique to detect O(1S) atoms using vacuum ultraviolet laser-induced fluorescence (VUV-LIF) spectroscopy has been applied to study the O(1S) production process from the UV photodissociation of O3, N2O, and H2O2. The quantum yields for O(1S) formation from O3 photolysis at 215 and 220 nm are determined to be (1.4 ± 0.4) × 10−4 and (5 ± 3) × 10−5, respectively. Based on thermochemical considerations, the O(1S) formation from O3 photolysis at 215 and 220 nm is attributed to a spin-forbidden process of O(1S)+O2(X3Σg ). Analysis of the Doppler profile of O(1S) produced from O3 photolysis at 193 nm also indicates that the O(1S) atoms are produced from the spin-forbidden process. In the photolysis of N2O and H2O2 at 193 nm, no discernible signal of O(1S) atoms has been detected. The upper limit values of the quantum yields for O(1S) production from N2O and H2O2 photolysis at 193 nm are estimated to be 8 × 10−5 and 3 × 10−5, respectively. Using the experimental results, the impact of the O(1S) formation from O3 photolysis on the atmospheric OH radical formation through the reaction of O(1S)+H2O has been estimated. The calculated results show that the contribution of the O(1S)+H2O reaction to the OH production rate is ∼2% of that of the O(1D)+H2O reaction at 30 km altitude in mid-latitude. Implications of the present laboratory experimental results for the terrestrial airglow of O(1S) at 557.7 nm have also been discussed.  相似文献

As basic research for the effect of heavy oil on the fish immune system, in this study, the number of leukocyte was counted in Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus, after exposure to heavy oil at a concentration of 30 g/8L for 3 days. To compare the numbers of bacteria in the skin mucus between oil-exposed and control fish, viable bacteria were enumerated by counting colony forming unit (CFU). Compared with 5.79+/-1.88 x 10(7)leukocytes/mL in the controls, the exposed fish demonstrated higher counts, averaging 1.45+/-0.45 x 10(8)cells/mL. The bacterial numbers of control fish were 4.27+/-3.68 x 10(4)CFU/g, whereas they were 4.58+/-1.63 x 10(5)CFU/g in the exposed fish. The results suggest that immune suppression of the fish occurred due to heavy oil stressor, and bacteria could invade in the mucus, resulting in the increasing leukocyte number to prevent infectious disease.  相似文献

The distribution of molecular masses of organic ligands for copper(II) in oceanic water was investigated. The bulk dissolved organic matter (DOM) was fractionated by ultrafiltration and organic ligands were extracted from the resultant fractions by using immobilized metal ion affinity chromatography (IMAC). Contributions of total organic ligands were 2.0–4.4% of the bulk DOM in surface waters, as determined by the UV absorbance. In the distribution of molecular masses of organic ligands, relative contribution of the fraction with low molecular masses (<1000 Da) was dominant (49–62%), while 26–33% of the total organic ligands was in the 1000–10,000 Da fraction, leaving 10–19% in the >10,000 Da fraction. The distribution of molecular masses of organic ligands shifted to higher molecular masses, as compared with that of the bulk DOM. The fluorescence intensities of organic ligands were shown to be associated with carboxyl contents, based on peak excitation/emission wavelengths and the pH-dependence of fluorescence. Two ligand classes with different conditional stability constants (log KCuL′≈7 and 9) were determined from fluorescence quenching of ligand fractions during copper(II) titration. Organic ligands in low molecular mass fractions were relatively weak and strong ligands occurred in higher molecular mass fractions. It is suggested that the weaker ligand sites would consist of two or more carboxyl groups (log KHL′=4), whereas carboxyl groups (log =2), which are protonated at lower pH, and primary amine may additionally contribute to the formation of more stable copper(II) complexes of the stronger ligand.  相似文献

The application of blended acquisition has drawn considerable attention owing to its ability to improve the operational efficiency as well as the data quality and health, safety and environment performance. Furthermore, the acquisition of less data contributes to the business aspect, while the desired data density is still realizable via subsequent data reconstruction. The use of fewer detectors and sources also minimizes operational risks in the field. Therefore, a combined implementation of these technologies potentially enhances the value of a seismic survey further. One way to encourage this is to minimize any imperfection in deblending and data reconstruction during processing. In addition, one may derive survey parameters that enable a further improvement in these processes as introduced in this study. The proposed survey design workflow iteratively performs the following steps to derive the survey parameters responsible for source blending as well as the spatial sampling of detectors and sources. The first step is the application of blending and sampling operators to unblended and well-sampled data. We then apply closed-loop deblending and data reconstruction. The residue for a given design from this step is evaluated and subsequently used by genetic algorithms to simultaneously update the survey parameters related to both blending and spatial sampling. The updated parameters are fed into the next iteration until they satisfy the given termination criteria. We also propose a repeated encoding sequence to form a parameter sequence in genetic algorithms, making the size of problem space manageable. The results of the proposed workflow are outlined using blended dispersed source array data incorporating different scenarios that represent acquisition in marine, transition zone and land environments. Clear differences attributed solely to the parameter design are easily recognizable. Additionally, a comparison among different optimization schemes illustrates the ability of genetic algorithms along with a repeated encoding sequence to find better solutions within a computationally affordable time. The optimized parameters yield a notable enhancement in the deblending and data reconstruction quality and consequently provide optimal acquisition scenarios.  相似文献

Concentration and stable isotopic compositions (δ 18O) of dissolved O2 were measured in seawater samples collected from the Philippine Sea in June 2006. The in-situ O2 consumption rate and the isotopic fractionation factor (α r ) during dissolved O2 consumption were obtained from field observations by applying a vertical one-dimensional advection diffusion model to the deep water mass of about 1000–4000 m. The average O2 consumption rate and α r were, respectively, 0.11 ± 0.07 μmol kg−1yr−1 and 0.990 ± 0.001. These estimated values agree well with values from earlier estimations of Pacific deep water. The in-situ O2 consumption rates are two or more times higher north of 20°N, although the value of α r was not significantly different between the north and south. Its levels varied rapidly in the water mass of less about 2000 m depth. These results suggest that organic matter from the continent imparts a meaningful contribution to the upper water in the northern part of the area; it might produce the strong O2 minimum that is evident in the water mass from about 1000–2000 m in the northern part of the Philippine Sea.  相似文献

The partition of V and Mo between manganese oxides and sea water was investigated in the sea water supply system for aquaria at the Marine Science Museum, Tokai University, where both todorokite and birnessite are precipitated from aerated well sea water. The distribution coefficient of V was an order of magnitude higher than that of Mo. Assuming that the distribution coefficients can be applied to marine environments and that manganese oxides are precipitated from sea water, the calculated contents of these oxyanionic elements in manganese oxides were comparable to those in marine manganese nodules.  相似文献

The Woodlark Basin, located south of the Solomon Islands arc region, is a young (5 Ma) oceanic basin that subducts beneath the New Britain Trench. This region is one of only a few subduction zones in the world where it is possible to study a young plate subduction of several Ma. To obtain the image of the subducting slab at the western side of the Woodlark Basin, a 40-day Ocean Bottom Seismometer (OBS) survey was conducted in 1998 to detect the micro-seismic activity. It was the first time such a survey had been performed in this location and over 600 hypocenters were located. The seismic activity is concentrated at the 10–60 km depth range along the plate boundary. The upper limit just about coincides with the leading edge of the accretionary wedge. The upper limit boundary was identified as the up-dip limit of the seismogenic zone, whereas the down-dip limit of the seismogenic zone was difficult to define. The dip angle of the plate at the high seismicity zone was found to average about 30°. Using the Cascadia subduction zone for comparison, which is a typical example of a young plate subduction, suggests that the subduction of the Woodlark Basin was differentiated by a high dip angle and rather landward location of the seismic front from the trench axis (30 km landward from the trench axis). Furthermore, as pointed out by previous researchers, the convergent margin of the Solomon Islands region is imposed with a high stress state, probably due to the collision of the Ontong Java Plateau and a rather rapid convergence rate (10 cm/year). The results of the high angle plate subduction and inner crust earthquakes beneath the Shortland Basin strongly support the high stress state. The collision of the Ontong Java Plateau, the relatively rapid convergence rate, and moderately cold slab as evidenced by low heat flow, rather than the plate age, may be dominantly responsible for the geometry of the seismogenic zone in the western part of the Woodlark Basin subduction zone.  相似文献
