The main results of deep seismic sounding (DSS) are usually presented in the form of high-velocity models of the medium. Some model examples and the international DOBRE profile have shown that the informativeness of the data obtained can be significantly enhanced by the construction of wave images of the Earth’s crust, based on the migration of refracted and wide-angle reflected waves. The Donets Basin Refraction/Reflection Experiment (DOBRE) profile crosses the Dnieper-Donets paleorift zone in the Donbas region. Along the profile, refracted waves from the basement and the upper mantle and the reflections from the crust basement (the M boundary) are reliably traced. This wave migration has been used to construct a wave image of the structure of the Earth’s crust. As a result, a clear seismic image of the basement surface, whose depth changes along the profile from 0 to 20 km, was obtained. In near-slope parts of the basin, several major faults were identified that had not been identified previously during standard kinematic data processing. It is shown that the crust-upper mantle transition zone is a clearly reflective horizon only within the crystalline massifs; under a depression, it is represented by a lens-shaped highly-heterogeneous area. As shown in the model examples, the images obtained using such a migration accurately reflect the structural features of the medium, in spite of its complicated structure.  相似文献

Activated carbons prepared from sunflower seed hull have been used as adsorbents for the removal of acid blue 15 (AB‐15) from aqueous solution. Batch adsorption techniques were performed to evaluate the influences of various experimental parameters, e. g., temperature, adsorbent dosage, pH, initial dye concentration and contact time on the adsorption process. The optimum conditions for AB‐15 removal were found to be pH = 3, adsorbent dosage = 3 g/L and equilibrium time = 4 h at 30°C. The adsorption of AB‐15 onto the adsorbent was found to increase with increasing dosage. It was found from experimental results that the Langmuir isotherm fits the data better than the Freundlich and Temkin isotherms. The maximum adsorption capacity, Qm (at 30°C) was calculated for SF1, SF2, and SF3 as 75, 125 and 110 mg g–1 of adsorbent, respectively. It was found that the adsorption follows pseudo‐second order kinetics. The thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG°, ΔH°, and ΔS° were also evaluated. The activated carbons prepared were characterized by FT‐IR, SEM and BET analysis.  相似文献

 The present article is the second in a series of baseline water quality evaluation studies in parts of south-eastern Nigeria. Study results indicate that the water samples from the study are generally acidic, soft and fresh in addition to low sodium and salinity hazard. Regression equations indicate a good positive correlation between conductivity and Na, Ca, Mg and SO4. Ca-SO4 and Ca-Cl constitute the major facies in the area. Summary Various formulations of the mass-transport problem are compared for progressive waves in deep water. In order to calculate the mass-transport velocity as a function of depth in the main body of the fluid, it is necessary to include the effect of viscous wave attenuation. It is shown that the usual assumptions of periodicity in distance and attenuation with time or periodicity in time and attenuation with distance, are both physically unsatisfactory. The first does not specify a unique solution, and the second is incompatible with the assumption of zero surface stress. A certain critical constant tangential wind stress will maintain strictly time-periodic deep water waves. The corresponding attenuation with distance is then calculated to order 3. A constant tangential stress greater or less than the critical causes waves, necessarily decaying with distance, to grow or decay with time.  相似文献

The study investigates the possibility of using carbonatite in the production of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). We made use of fresh apatite-rich carbonatites found at the phosphate mining sites at Eppawala, Sri Lanka. Analyses of the fresh carbonatite were performed with the aid of optical microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), UV/visible spectrophotometry (UVVS), and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). Quicklime obtained from calcinations of carbonatites was used in synthesizing PCC via a lime-soda process. The end product was analyzed with XRD, TGA, AAS, and UVVS. Results revealed that the most common CO3 2? phase available in fresh carbonatites is calcite (>65%). The Ca-rich CO3 2? phase can be distinguished easily from other available minerals because its mode of occurrence in carbonatite matrix is different to that of other minerals. The results of TGA show that the decomposition of CO3 2? phase initiates at about 340°C, which leads to lower energy consumption during calcinations. Post-magmatic hydrothermal process may have been the cause of the formation of thermally unstable CO3 2? phases. Hydration of quicklime from the carbonatite yields much higher Ca2+ in the solution than from marble under the same experimental conditions. The synthesized PCC particles are in the calcite polymorphic form. The purity of PCC varies from 96 to 98 wt%. The maximum precipitable CaCO3 from 1 g of quicklime is about 1.1 g. Hence, fresh carbonatites has great economic potential for the production of PCC.  相似文献

An innovative mode of groundwater recharge to a buried esker aquifer is considered. The current conceptual model affords a natural safeguard to underlying aquifers from the overlying muds. A hypothesis of groundwater recharge to a buried esker aquifer via preferential pathways across its overlying muds is tested here by heuristic numerical one-dimensional and two-dimensional modeling simulations. The hypothesis has been tested against two other conventionally accepted scenarios involving: (1) distal esker outcrop areas and (2) remote shallow-bedrock recharge areas. The main evidence comes from documented recharge pressure pulses in the overlying mud aquitard and in the underlying esker hydraulic-head time series for the Vars-Winchester esker aquifer in Eastern Ontario, Canada. These perturbations to the potentiometric surface are believed to be the aquifer response to recharge events. The migration rate of these pressure pulses is directly related to the hydraulic diffusivity of the formation. The measured response time and response amplitude between singular radar precipitation events and well hydrographs constituted the heuristic model calibration targets. The main evidence also includes mud-layering deformation (water escape features) which was observed in seismic surveys of the over-esker muds. These disturbed stratigraphic elements provide a realistic mechanism for migrating water to transit through the muds. The effective hydraulic conductivities of these preferential pathways in the muds were estimated to be between 2?×?10?6 and 7?×?10?6 m/s. The implications of these findings relate to the alleged natural safeguard of these overlying muds.  相似文献

An earthquake of Mw6.4 occurred in Pishan County in Xinjiang Province, northwestern Tibetan Plateau, on July 3,2015. The epicenter was located on an active blind thrust system located at the northern margin of the Western Kunlun Mountain Orogenic Belt southwest of the Tarim Basin. We constructed a shovel-shaped fault model based on the layered-crust model with reference to the seismic reflection profile, and obtained the rupture process of the earthquake from the joint inversion of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(InSAR) measurements, far-field waveform data, and Global Positioning System(GPS) data. The results show that the seismic fault dips southward with a strike of 109°, and the rupture direction was essentially northward. The fault plane rupture distribution is concentrated, with a maximum recorded slip of 73 cm. The main features of the fault are as follows: low inclination angle(25°–10°), thrust slip at a depth of 9–13 km, rupture propagation time of about 12 s, no significant slip in soft or hard sedimentary layers at 0–4 km depth and propagation from the initial rupture point to the surrounding area with no obvious directionality. The InSAR time-series analysis method is used to determine the deformation rate in the source region within 2 years after the earthquake, and the maximum value is ~17 mm yr-1 in the radar line-of-sight direction. Obvious post-earthquake deformation is evident in the hanging wall, with a similar trend to the coseismic displacement field. These results suggest that the Pishan earthquake has not completely released the accumulated energy of the region, given that the multilayer fold structure above the blind fault is still in a process of slow uplift since the earthquake. Post-earthquake adjustment models and aftershock risk analysis require further study using more independent data.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new technique to detect the urban slums from urban buildings using very high resolution data. Many cities in the Global South are facing the development and growth of highly dynamic slum areas, but often lack detailed spatial information. Unlike buildings, vegetation and other features, urban slums lack in their unique spectral signatures. Thus, accurate detection of slums using remote sensing data poses real challenge to researchers and decision-makers. In this work, gray-level co-occurrence matrix, Tamura-based statistical feature extraction and wavelet frame transform-based spectral feature extraction techniques are proposed for detecting the urban slums from urban buildings. The very high resolution data of Madurai city, South India, acquired by Worldview-2 sensor (1.84 m) proved the ability of the proposed approaches to identify urban slums from urban buildings. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed wavelet frame transform-based approach can generate higher classification accuracy than other approaches.  相似文献

Well Yingnan 2, an important exploratory well in the east of Tarim Basin, yields high commercial oil and gas flow in Jurassic. Natural gas components and carbon isotopic composition indicate that it belongs to sapropel type gas. Because this region presents many suits of hydrocarbon source rocks, there are some controversies that natural gases were generated from kerogen gas or crude oil cracking gas at present. By using the kinetics of hydrocarbon generation and carbon isotope, natural gas of Well Yingnan 2 is composed mainly of crude oil cracking gas, about 72%, it is generated from secondary kerogen gas of Cambrian-Lower Ordovician source rock and crude oil cracking gas of Mid-Upper Ordovician oil reservoir. The main oil and gas filling time is 65 Ma later in the Jurassic gas reservoir of Well Yingnan 2, so the gas reservoir belongs to late accumulation and continuous filling type.  相似文献

The age and habitat of the Bende fish fossils have remained a matter of controversy with interpretations ranging between the Paleocene Imo Formation and the Eocene Ameki Formation. Outcrop-based sequence stratigraphic analysis presented in this work shows that the Imo and Ameki Formations together include three laterally extensive estuarine central basin/offshore mud rock units that are associated with the 59.7, 58.1, and the 56.8 ma maximum flooding surfaces, respectively. Field evidence and stratigraphic analysis show that the Bende fossil bones are hosted by the mud rock unit containing the 58.1 ma maximum flooding surface, while the Ameke bone fossils are contained within the condensed section associated with the 56.8 ma maximum flooding surface. Apart from highlighting the relevance of sequence stratigraphy in paleobiological interpretations, this study shows that the Bende fish fauna which Arua first assigned to the Eocene Ameki Formation indeed belongs to the Paleocene Imo Formation.  相似文献
