The Swiss Prealpine Dranse nappe consists of the badly known shaley Complexe de base series and the overlying Campanian to Maastrichtian Helminthoid Flysch. Our preliminary data from the shaley series indicate an Albian to Early Campanian age. It represents mid-slope to abyssal plain starved basin sediments. The occurrence of similar and coeval series in the Carpathians and Ligurian Alps suggest common tectonic and oceanographic conditions.  相似文献

New radar images obtained from the Arecibo Observatory (resolution 1.5–4.0 km) for portions of the southern hemisphere of Venus show that: the upland of Phoebe Regio contains the southern extension of Devana Chasma, a rift zone extending 4200 km south from Theia Mons and interpreted as a zone of extension; Alpha Regio, the only large region of tessera within the imaged area, is similar to tessera mapped elsewhere on the planet and covers a smaller percentage of the surface than that observed in the northern high latitudes; the upland made of Ushas, Innini and Hathor Montes consists of three distinct volcanic constructs; Themis Regio is mapped as an ovoid chain of radar-bright arcuate single and double ring structures, edifices and bright lineaments. This area is interpreted as a region of mantle upwelling and on the basis of apparent split and separated features, a zone of localized faulting and extension. Linear zones of deformation in Lavinia Planitia are characterized by lineament belts that are often locally elevated, are similar to ridge belts mapped in the northern high latitudes and are interpreted to be characterized mainly by compression; radar-bright lava complexes within Lavinia Planitia are unique to this part of the planet and are interpreted to represent areas of eruption of high volumes of extremely fluid lava; the upland of Lada Terra is bound to the north by a linear deformation zone interpreted as extensional, is characterized by large ovoids and coronae, is interpreted to be associated with an area of mantle upwelling, and is in contrast to the northern high latitude highland of Ishtar Terra. Regions of plains in the southern hemisphere cover about 78%; of the mapped area and are interpreted to be volcanic in origin. Located within the area imaged (10–78 S) are 52 craters interpreted to be of impact origin ranging from 8 to 157 km in diameter. On the basis of an overall crater density of 0.94 craters/106 km2, it is determined that the age of this part of the Venus surface is similar to the 0.3 to 1.0 billion year age calculated for the equatorial region and northern high latitudes. The geologic characteristics of the portion of the Venus southern hemisphere imaged by Arecibo are generally similar to those mapped elsewhere on the planet. This part of the planet is characterized by widespread volcanic plains, large volcanic edifices, and zones of linear belt deformation. The southern hemisphere of Venus differs from northern high latitudes in that tessera makes up only a small percentage of the surface area and the ovoid chain in Themis Regio is unique to this part of the planet. On the basis of the analysis presented here, the southern hemisphere of Venus is interpreted to be characterized by regions of mantle upwelling on a variety of scales (ovoids, region made up of Ushas, Innini and Hathor Montes), upwelling and extension (Themis Regio) and localized compression (lineament belts in Lavinia Planitia).  相似文献

Ideal and resistive ballooning modes are investigated for different ratios of a two-layer stratified density region representing a model for the photospheric/coronal boundary. Construction of the ballooning equations using a WKB approach is justified by comparison between the values of the growth rate obtained using Hain-Lüst and ballooning equations together with a WKB integral relation. Different values of the density ratio, radius, and resistivity are considered. Sausage-type and kink-type instabilities are found. One of these, depending on the value of r remained unstable for large density ratios. The other instability tended to marginal stability as the density ratio was increased, and allowed parallel and perpendicular flows across the boundary. This is contrary to the predictions of both the rigid-wall and flow-through conditions.  相似文献

The Sun may well have formed in the type of interstellar cloud currently referred to as a cold, dark cloud. We present current tabulations of the totality of known interstellar molecules and of the subset which have been identified in cold clouds. Molecular abundances are given for two such clouds which show interesting chemical differences in spite of strong physical similarities, Taurus Molecular Cloud 1 (TMC-1) and Lynd's 134N (L134N, also referred to as L183). From February to March 1989 the Phobos 2 spacecraft took 37 TV images of Phobos at a distance of 190-1100 km. These images complement Mariner-9 and Viking data by providing higher-resolution coverage of a large region West of the crater Stickney (40-160 degrees W) and by providing disk-resolved measurements of surface brightness at a greater range of wavelengths and additional phase angles. These images have supported updated mapping and characterization of large craters and grooves, and have provided additional observations of craters' and grooves' bright rims. Variations in surface visible/near-infrared color ratio of almost a factor of 2 have been recognized; these variations appear to be associated with the ejecta of specific large impact craters. Updated determinations of satellite mass and volume allow calculation of a more accurate value of bulk density, 1.90 +/- 0.1 g cm-3. This is significantly lower than the density of meteoritic analogs to Phobos' surface, suggesting a porous interior perhaps containing interstitial ice.  相似文献

All knownV data from the literature for the Scuti star HR 1170 have been reanalysed by using single-frequency Fourier and multiple-frequency least squares analysis. The calculated periods areP 1=0 . d 09942 andP 2=0 . d 08392. The second frequency has not been found before and gives better residuals and almost constant amplitudes for the individual data sets. The period ratio andQ values indicate that this star is not pulsating in pure radial modes.  相似文献

Line-forming regions around close binaries with strong winds ( /4r * v 10–4 g cm–2) are large in extent compared with the stars, large enough to screen them. Their orbitally-modulated Doppler shifts can overestimate the mass function, because of a larger rotational lever arm. In particular, most of the black-hole candidates need not involve companions more massive than a neutron star.The solar-wind problem is reconsidered. An extrapolation to Wolf-Rayet stars suggests that their winds are centrifugally driven. Their mass-loss rates tend to have been overestimated.Seemingly single (massive) stars can hide a (compact) companion.  相似文献

By modifying the online software of the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope it is possible to sample the radio emission from a field containing a pulsar synchronously with the pulsed signal. Recording the emission from eight separate temporal windows, we can simultaneously observe both the on-pulse and off-pulse signals. We are using this technique for three different kinds of pulsar investigation: (a) to check and improve the positions of some pulsars; (b) to look for unpulsed components; and (c) to search for weak extended emission around pulsars. Observations have been carried out at 6, 21, 49, and 92 cm. Imprecise variogram parameters are modeled with fuzzy set theory. The fit of a variogram model to experimental variograms is often subjective. The accuracy of the fit is modeled with imprecise variogram parameters. Measurement data often are insufficient to create good experimental variograms. In this case, prior knowledge and experience can contribute to determination of the variogram model parameters. A methodology for kriging with imprecise variogram parameters is developed. Both kriged values and estimation variances are calculated as fuzzy numbers and characterized by their membership functions. Besides estimation variance, the membership functions are used to create another uncertainty measure. This measure depends on both homogeneity and configuration of the data.  相似文献

The Precambrian Basement Complex rocks as well as the Early to Late Palaeozoic cover sediments of the Sierras Australes were affected by one dominant folding and shearing event verging northeastward during Middle to Late Permian times. Strain estimates point to a minimal flattening and lateral shortening of the sedimentary cover sequence of c.20% and c.24% respectively. Continuing rotational deformation within first and second shear and thrust zones is documented by second and third folding and shearing. To the SW the fold belt changes into a fold and thrust belt where imbrication involves the basement. The deformational events were accompanied and outlasted by anchizonal to greenschist facies metamorphism proven by illite crystallinity and quartz deformation and recrystallization data. A temperature increase from ENE to WSW and also from N to S allowed a more ductile deformation of the rock sequence due to different deformation mechanisms operating. The folding and thrusting events were followed by strike-slip shearing on subvertical shear planes and shear zones under an overall sinistral transpressive regime. A model for the tectonic evolution of the Sierras Australes is proposed and some implications for its setting in the Gondwana reconstruction are given.
Zusammenfassung Das präkambrische Basement sowie die alt- und jungpaläozoischen Deckschichten der Sierras Australes wurden während des Mittl. bis Ob. Perm von einer NE vergenten Faltung und Scherung erfaßt. Strain-Abschätzungen deuten auf eine minimale Plättung und laterale Verkürzung der Sedimentfolge von ca. 20% bzw. 24%. Die fortlaufende relationale Deformation in den ersten und zweiten Scher- und Überschiebungszonen ist durch zweite und dritte Faltung mit Scherung dokumentiert. Der Sierras Australes-Faltengürtel geht nach SW in einen Falten-Überschiebungsgürtel über, dessen nach NE gerichtete Imbrikationen das Basement einbeziehen. Daten der Illit-Kristallinität und Quarz-Deformation/-Rekristallisation zeigen, daß die Deformationen von anchizonaler bis seicht-grünschieferfazieller Metamorphose begleitet und überdauert wurden. Mit der von ENE nach WSW bzw. N nach S zunehmenden Temperierung setzten verschiedene Deformationsmechanismen ein. Sie ermöglichten eine zunehmend duktile Verformung der Gesteinsfolgen. Auf die Faltungen und Auf-/Überschiebungen folgten Lateralverschiebungen an subvertikalen Scherflächen und -zonen unter einem sinistralen transpressiven Regime. Für die tektonische Entwicklung der Sierras Australes wird ein Modell vorgeschlagen, und die Folgerungen für die Stellung in der Gondwana-Rekonstruktion werden angeführt.

Résumé Les roches du socle précambrien ainsi que la couverture sédimentaire éo- à tardi-paléozoïque des Sierras Australes ont été affectées, au cours du Permien moyen à supérieur, d'un plissement et d'un cisaillement à vergence nord-est. Les déformations sont estimées à au moins 20% d'aplatissement et 24% de raccourcissement latéral. Dans la première et la deuxième zone de cisaillement et de charriage, la déformation rotationnelle continue s'exprime par les deuxième et troisième plissements. Vers le SW la ceinture plissée passe à une ceinture plissée et charriée qui comporte des imbrications du socle. Les déformations ont été accompagnées et suivies d'un métamorphisme de faciès d'anchizone à «schistes verts», ainsi qu'en attestent la cristallinité de l'illite et la déformation et recristallisation du quartz. L'accroissement de la température de l'ENE vers l'WSW ainsi que du N vers le S a donné lieu à des mécanismes de déformation de caractère de plus en plus ductile. La phase de plissement et de charriage a été suivie par un régime de cisaillements décrochants sénestres le long de plans et de shear-zones subverticaux. Les auteurs proposent un modèle de l'évolution tectonique des Sierras Australes et discutent de son insertion dans la reconstruction du Gondwana.
