On 25 April 2015, an M w 7.8 earthquake occurred on the Main Himalaya Thrust fault with a dip angle of ~ 7° about 77 km northwest of Kathmandu, Nepal. This Nepal Gorkha event is the largest one on the Himalayan thrust belt since 1950. Here we use the compressive sensing method in the frequency domain to track the seismic radiation and rupture process of this event using teleseismic P waves recorded by array stations in North America. We also compute the distribution of static shear stress changes on the fault plane from a coseismic slip model. Our results indicate a dominant east-southeastward unilateral rupture process from the epicenter with an average rupture speed of ~3 km s?1. Coseismic radiation of this earthquake shows clear frequency-dependent features. The lower frequency (0.05–0.3 Hz) radiation mainly originates from large coseismic slip regions with negative coseismic shear stress changes. In comparison, higher frequency (0.3–0.6 Hz) radiation appears to be from the down-dip part around the margin of large slip areas, which has been loaded and presents positive coseismic shear stress changes. We propose an asperity model to interpret this Nepal earthquake sequence and compare the frequency-dependent coseismic radiation with that in subduction zones. Such frequency-dependent radiation indicates the depth-varying frictional properties on the plate interface of the Nepal section in the main Himalaya thrust system, similar to previous findings in oceanic subduction zones. Our findings provide further evidence of the spatial correlation between changes of static stress status on the fault plane and the observed frequency-dependent coseismic radiation during large earthquakes. Our results show that the frequency-dependent coseismic radiation is not only found for megathrust earthquakes in the oceanic subduction environment, but also holds true for thrust events in the continental collision zone. 相似文献

利用TerraSAR-X卫星2013-08~2014-08的17景雷达影像,采用小基线集(small baseline subset,SBAS)InSAR技术获取呼图壁(HTB)地下储气库(underground gas storage,UGS)运行期间的地表形变序列,并结合UGS注(采)气井口的压力数据,采用多点源Mogi模型,对HTB UGS的形变场进行模拟。结果表明,整个UGS区域的形变特征为非连续分布,形变与注(采)气压力变化具有较好的相关性;注(采)气期间沿卫星视线向(LOS)的形变峰值分别为10 mm和-8 mm;采用自适应前向搜索法,基于多点源Mogi模型初步模拟注(采)气期间的形变过程,当UGS的注(采)气平均气压为18 MPa和15 MPa时,LOS的形变可达7 mm和-4 mm,地表形变的大小与注(采)气井口密度有关;UGS的储气分布呈非均匀状态,即地下气库结构复杂多变。 相似文献

The spatial-temporal features of the extremely severe drought and the anomalous atmospheric circulation in summer 2006 are
analyzed based on the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data, the characteristic circulation indices given by the National Climate Center
of China, and the daily precipitation data of 20 stations in the east of Southwest China (ESC) from 1959 to 2006. The results
show that the rainless period started from early June and ended in early September 2006 with a total of more than 80 days,
and the rainfall was especially scarce from around 25 July to 5 September 2006. Precipitation for each month was less than
normal, and analysis of the precipitation indices shows that the summer precipitation in 2006 was the least since 1959. The
extremely severe drought in the ESC in summer 2006 was closely related to the persistent anomalies of the atmospheric circulation
in the same period, i.e., anomalies of mid-high latitude atmospheric circulation, western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH),
westerlies, South Asian high, lower-level flow, water vapor transport, vertical motion, and so on. Droughts usually occur
when the WPSH lies anomalously northward and westward, or anomalously weak and eastward. The extreme drought in summer 2006
was caused by the former. When the WPSH turned stronger and shifted to the north and west of its normal position, and the
South Asian high was also strong and lay eastward, downdrafts prevailed over the ESC and suppressed the water vapor transfer
toward this area. At the same time, the disposition of the westerlies and the mid-high latitude circulation disfavored the
southward invasion of cold air, which jointly resulted in the extremely severe drought in the ESC in summer 2006. The weak
heating over the Tibetan Plateau and vigorous convective activities over the Philippine area were likely responsible for the
strong WPSH and its northwestward shift in summer 2006. 相似文献

Reinforced concrete (RC) wall is a common type of structural component used in high-rise buildings to resist lateral loads induced by earthquakes. RC walls are typically designed and detailed to dissipate energy through significant inelastic responses to meet expected seismic performance under moderate-to-strong earthquakes. However, costly repair or even demolition caused by excessive residual deformation is usually inevitable. Given this deficiency, this study investigates the feasibility of utilizing superelastic shape memory alloy (SMA) bars to achieve self-centering (SC) RC walls. Under this condition, the residual deformation of SC–RC walls is reduced by superelastic SMA with large recoverable strain and remarkable fatigue properties. The mechanical properties of superelastic nickel–titanium bars and SC–RC wall design are described. A numerical SC–RC wall model is developed and validated by comparing the test results. Parametric studies of SC–RC wall systems are then conducted to investigate the effects of axial compressive load ratio, bottom slit length, and lower plateau stress factor of SMA. Results show that the proposed SC–RC walls have excellent SC ability and moderate energy dissipation capacity. The damage regions and levels of the SC–RC wall systems are also discussed. 相似文献

Recent advances in studies of the structural characteristics and temporal-spatial variations of the East Asian monsoon (EAM) system and the impact of this system on severe climate disasters in China are reviewed. Previous studies have improved our understanding of the basic characteristics of horizontal and vertical structures and the annual cycle of the EAM system and the water vapor transports in the EAM region. Many studies have shown that the EAM system is a relatively independent subsystem of the Asian- Australian monsoon system, and that there exists an obvious quasi-biennial oscillation with a meridional tripole pattern distribution in the interannual variations of the EAM system. Further analyses of the basic physical processes, both internal and external, that influence the variability of the EAM system indicate that the EAM system may be viewed as an atmosphere-ocean-land coupled system, referred to the EAM climate system in this paper. Further, the paper discusses how the interaction and relationships among various components of this system can be described through the East Asia Pacific (EAP) teleconnection pattern and the teleconnection pattern of meridional upper-tropospheric wind anomalies along the westerly jet over East Asia. Such reasoning suggests that the occurrence of severe floods in the Yangtze and Hualhe River valleys and prolonged droughts in North China are linked, respectively~ to the background interannual and interdecadal variability of the EAM climate system. The Silesia–Cracow district in Poland has been one of the world’s principal sources of zinc from nonsulfide zinc ore (Polish:
galman). The still remaining nonsulfide ore resources can be estimated at 57 Mt at 5.6% Zn and 1.4% Pb. Nonsulfide mineralization
is mainly hosted by Lower Muschelkalk (Triassic) limestone and is associated with different generations of the hydrothermal
ore-bearing dolomite (OBD I, II, III). A fundamental ore control is believed to have been exerted by the basement faults,
which were repeatedly reactivated during the Alpine tectonic cycle, leading to the formation of horst-and-graben structures: these dislocations may have caused short periods of emersion and the circulation of meteoric waters during the
Cenozoic. Nonsulfide ores show a wide range of morphological characteristics and textures. They occur as earthy masses, crystalline
aggregates, and concretions in cavities. Breccia and replacement textures are also very common. The most important mineral
phases are: smithsonite, Fe–smithsonite, Zn–dolomite, goethite, and Fe–Mn(hydr)oxides. Minor hemimorphite and hydrozincite
have also been detected. Two distinct nonsulfide ore types occur: the predominant red galman and the rare white galman. In the white galman, Fe–smithsonite and Zn–dolomite are particularly abundant. This ore type is commonly considered as a peripheral hydrothermal
alteration product related to the same fluids that precipitated both the OBD II–III and the sulfides. In contrast, a supergene
origin is commonly assumed for the red galman. Evidence of the petrographic and mineralogical difference between white and red galman is also found in stable isotope data. Smithsonite from red galman shows a limited range of δ
13CVPDB values (−10.1 to −11.4‰), and δ
18OVSMOW values (25.3‰ to 28.5‰, mean 26.8 ± 0.3‰). The uniform and low carbon isotope values of red galman smithsonite are unusual for supergene carbonate-hosted deposits and indicate the predominance of a single organic carbon
source. Smithsonite from white galman has a more variable, slightly more positive carbon isotope (−2.9‰ to −7.4‰), but broadly similar oxygen isotope composition
(26.8‰ to 28.9‰). The relationship of the white galman ore with the hydrothermal system responsible for OBD II and sulfide generation is still uncertain. The most important paleoweathering
events took place in both Lower and Upper Silesia during Late Cretaceous up to Paleogene and early Neogene time. During this
period, several short-lasting emersions and intense weathering episodes facilitated the formation of sinkholes in the Triassic
carbonate rocks and the oxidation of sulfide orebodies through percolating meteoric waters. These phenomena may have lasted

Two large-scale “in situ” demonstration experiments and their instrumentation are described. The first test (FEBEX Experiment)
involves the hydration of a compacted bentonite barrier under the combined effect of an inner source of heat and an outer
water flow from the confining saturated granite rock. In the second case, the progressive de-saturation of Opalinus clay induced
by maintained ventilation of an unlined tunnel is analyzed. The paper shows the performance of different sensors (capacitive
cells, psychrometers, TDR’s) and a comparison of fill behaviour with modelling results. The long term performance of some
instruments could also be evaluated specially in the case of FEBEX test. Capacitive sensors provide relative humidity data

Risk assessment of maize drought disaster in southwest China using the Environmental Policy Integrated Climate model 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The East Asian monsoon has a tremendous impact on agricultural production in China. An assessment of the risk of drought disaster in maize-producing regions is therefore important in ensuring a reduction in such disasters and an increase in food security. A risk assessment model, EPIC(Environmental Policy Integrated Climate) model, for maize drought disasters based on the Erosion Productivity Impact Calculator crop model is proposed for areas with the topographic characteristics of the mountainous karst region in southwest China. This region has one of the highest levels of environmental degradation in China. The results showed that the hazard risk level for the maize zone of southwest China is generally high. Most hazard index values were between 0.4 and 0.5,accounting for 47.32% of total study area. However,the risk level for drought loss was low. Most of the loss rate was 0.1, accounting for 96.24% of the total study area. The three high-risk areas were mainlydistributed in the parallel ridge–valley areas in the east of Sichuan Province, the West Mountain area of Guizhou Province, and the south of Yunnan Province.These results provide a scientific basis and support for the reduction of agricultural drought disasters and an increase in food security in the southwest China maize zone. 相似文献
