The activity of two adsorbent polymers on the basis of polystyrene and of an activated carbon for the removal of organochlorine substances as well as of substances which are characterized by the COD-Cr or the ultraviolet absorption in the wastewater of a pharmaceutical enterprise is assessed in batch and filtration experiments. The results show a good take-up of the organochlorine compounds by the polymers. Activated carbon showed partially the best values for process wastewater.  相似文献

For the purpose of utilizing domestic flocculants for the treatment of water and of reducing by this the equivalent imports of metal salts, in this paper the result of investigations made on model waters and on a river water sample is described. The model waters contained the pesticides Atrazin, Diuron and 2,4-D, which partly were polluted in addition with different quantities of fulvic and humic acids as well as with colloidal substances causing turbidity (Friedland clay and finely dispersed cellulose). The investigations were supplemented by testing several adsorption media as γ-aluminium oxide, active carbon and diatom earth. In the presence of fulvic and humic substances one does not succeed in eliminating the investigated herbicides by flocculation with lime hydrate. Only after chemical side reactions between these contained substances the adsorbability is clearly influenced. The different elimination efficiencies at different reaction conditions are explained in detail.  相似文献

An investigation is made into the performance of a commercial product (Wofatit EP 61) and of newly-developed experimental samples of macroporous adsorption polymers (copolymers of styrene and divinyl benzene) with a much larger specific surface in batch and filter experiments. Against organic adsorptives having the character of weak electrolytes, adsorption polymers show a significantly pH-dependent elimination capacity. Non-ionic or only weakly dissociated anionic adsorptives are removed by the experimental samples to a much higher degree than by the commercial adsorption polymer. Highly dissociated anionic compounds can be removed by activated carbon better than by macroporous adsorption polymers.  相似文献

Supplementary contour lines are placed between regular contour lines to visualize small but important forms that regular contour lines are unable to show. On topographic maps, typical forms are hillcrests, depressions, saddles, terraces, banks, and levees. No automated method for the selection of supplementary contour lines has been described so far. We document cartographic design principles for the selection of supplementary contour lines for topographic maps, and present an automated method for their placement. Results of the automated method are similar to manually placed supplementary contour lines. Our method helps map authors to create contour line maps that more effectively illustrate relevant small details in maps showing terrain elevation or other scalar fields.  相似文献

In the present study, we performed gastropod analyses on loess–palaeosol sequences from northeast Armenia (Southern Caucasia) covering at least three glacial–interglacial cycles. The elaborated ecostratigraphy shows significant patterns of species composition related to the succession of pedocomplexes and loess, respectively. Pedocomplexes included species that can be associated with high-grass to forest-steppe biomes, indicating increased humidity for these sections compared to the loess layers. In contrast, loess layers that relate to glacial periods are associated with gastropod species of semidesert environments with shrub- and shortgrass-steppes, indicating semiarid to arid conditions. Furthermore, the loess deposits do not show any evidence for cold-adapted gastropod species. Therefore, we suggest that average July temperatures in the study area were above 10 °C, even during periods of loess deposition. Consequently, we propose that the limiting factor for tree growth during glacial periods was aridity, rather than temperature. In addition, we observe environmental differences between the various glacial times, with our results indicating a trend towards steadily increasing aridity in Southern Caucasia across the Middle to Late Pleistocene.  相似文献

The first global ocean reanalysis with focus on the Asian-Australian region was performed for the period October 1992 to June 2006. The 14-year experiment assimilated available observations of altimetric sea-level anomaly, satellite SST and quality-controlled in situ temperature and salinity profiles from a range of sources, including field surveys and the Argo float array. This study focuses on dominant circulation patterns in the South-East Asian/Australian region as simulated by an eddy-resolving and data-assimilating ocean general circulation model. New estimates of the ocean circulation are provided which are largely in agreement with the limited number of observations. Transports of key currents in the region are as follows: The total (top-to-bottom) annual mean Indonesian Throughflow transport and its standard deviation are 9.7 ± 4.4 Sv from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean with a minimum in January (6.6 Sv) and a maximum in April (12.3 Sv). The Leeuwin Current along the west coast of Australia is dominated by eddy structures with a mean southward transport of 4.1 ± 2.0 Sv at 34°S. Along the southern coast of Australia a narrow shelf edge current known as the South Australian Current advects 4.5 ± 2.6 Sv eastward at 130°E. The South Australian Current converges east of Tasmania with the eddy-rich extension of East Australian Current. At 32°S this current transports 36.8 ± 18.5 Sv southward. A dominating feature of the circulation between north-eastern Australia and Papua-New Guinea is the strong and quasi-permanent Coral Sea Gyre. This gyre is associated with the highly variable Hiri Current which runs along the south coast of Papua-New Guinea and advects 8.2 ± 19.1 Sv into the Western Pacific Ocean. All of these transport estimates are subject to strong eddy variability.  相似文献

An algorithm is presented to retrieve the concentrations of chlorophyll a, suspended pariclulate matter and yellow substance from normalized water-leaving radiances of the Ocean Color and Temperature Sensor (OCTS) of the Advanced Earth Observing Satellite (ADEOS). It is based on a neural network (NN) algorithm, which is used for the rapid inversion of a radiative transfer procedure with the goal of retrieving not only the concentrations of chlorophyll a but also the two other components that determine the water-leaving radiance spectrum. The NN algorithm was tested using the NASA's SeaBAM (SeaWiFS Bio-Optical Mini-Workshop) test data set and applied to ADEOS/OCTS data of the Northwest Pacific in the region off Sanriku, Japan. The root-mean-square error between chlorophyll a concentrations derived from the SeaBAM reflectance data and the chlorophyll a measurements is 0.62. The retrieved chlorophyll a concentrations of the OCTS data were compared with the corresponding distribution obtained by the standard OCTS algorithm. The concentrations and distribution patterns from both algorithms match for open ocean areas. Since there are no standard OCTS products available for yellow substance and suspended matter and no in situ measurements available for validation, the result of the retrieval by the NN for these two variables could only be assessed by a general knowledge of their concentrations and distribution patterns. Measurements of energetic heavy ions using the Explorer 45 and ATS-6 satellites are reviewed and the resulting implications for theory are evaluated. The measured ions are basically protons and helium ions in the energy range from 0.1 to 1 MeV/nucleon. The equatorial energetic ion distributions inside L = 4.5 are found to be very stable for extended periods of time. These ions are very closely confined to the equatorial plane and are sharply peaked as a function of L around a value designated as Lmax. Beyond L = 5.0 the fluxes of these ions are more variable with order of magnitude variations being observed at L = 6.6 on the time scales of minutes, hours, or days. The region inside L = 4.5 appears to be well described by radial diffusive transport driven by fluctuations in the geomagnetic field coupled with losses due to charge exchange and Coulomb interactions with ambient hydrogen geocorona and terrestrial plasma environment. From an analysis relating the position in L-value of the maximum intensity, Lmax, observed for a given ion species and energy, it is argued that the influence of fluctuations in the convection electric field as discussed by Cornwall (1972) are not effective in radially diffusing in L ions with energies greater than a few hundred kiloelectron volts per nucleon. The source of these ions remains basically undetermined and its determination must await further measurements.  相似文献
