Long-term creep tests have been performed under very small uniaxial loadings (σ=0.02 to 0.1 MPa). Testing devices were set in an underground gallery, where temperature fluctuations are in the order of one hundredth of a Celsius degree. The mechanical loading was provided by dead weights. The displacements were measured through special sensors whose resolution is Δ?=10?8. Strain rates as small as ?˙=10?12s?1 were measured. The tests prove that constitutive laws deduced from tests performed on rock salt samples under standard mechanical loadings cannot be extrapolated to very small loadings. To cite this article: P. Results of systematic observations of a sample of bright H2O maser sources with fluxes, on average, exceeding 200 Jy in their main spectral feature during April–September 2017 (G25.65+1.05, G25.825?0.178, G27.184?0.082, G34.403+0.233, G35.20?0.74, G43.8?0.13, G107.30+5.64) are presented. These observations were carried out in preparation for Very Long Baseline Interferometry observations with an array including the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory 22-m radio telescope. All these sources display fairly strong variability during the time interval considered, encompassing fluxes from ~40 to ~2300 Jy. A flare reaching ~17 000 Jy was detected at a velocity of 42.8 km/s in G25.65+1.05 on September 7, 2017, which subsequently grew to 60 000 Jy at the end of September 2017. This suggests the presence of compact maser structures. The velocities covered by various spectral components range from 5 to 20 km/s. In three sources (G25.65+1.05,G25.825?0.178,G35.20?0.74), a general growth in the fluxes of all the spectral features is observed, which may indicate variations in the conditions for pumping by an external source, for example, variations in the infrared flux from a central source or the passage of a shock. Possible evidence for the presence of bipolar outflows or disk structures in G25.65+1.05 is discussed.  相似文献

Freshwater lakes are important sources of methane (CH4) emissions, by organic matter degradation under anaerobic conditions (methanogenesis). Previous studies suggest that lakes contribute up to 16 % of natural emissions. About 60 % of the CH4 produced is used as an energy source by methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB—methanotrophs), which could support higher trophic levels, especially Chironomidae (Diptera). Because biogenic methane has a very low stable carbon isotope value, evidence of methane-derived organic-matter assimilation can be tracked by stable carbon isotope analysis in consumers such as chironomids. In some cases, however, chironomid δ13C values are not low enough to unambiguously demonstrate methanotroph assimilation and an alternative line of evidence is required. Analysis of ancient DNA (aDNA) from the methanotroph community preserved in lake sediment provides reliable information about past methane oxidation in freshwater lakes. A combination of these two approaches was used to study a sediment core from the deepest zone of Lake Narlay (Jura, France), which covers the last 1,500 years of sediment accumulation. Results show a significant change ca. AD 1600, with an increase in the proportion of MOB in the total bacteria community, and a decrease in chironomid head-capsule δ13C. These trends suggest assimilation of MOB by chironomid larvae, and account for up to 36 % of the chironomid biomass. The data also provide information about the feeding behavior of chironomids, with evidence for preferential assimilation of methanotroph type I and the NC10 phylum. The combination of aDNA analysis and carbon stable isotopes strengthens the reliability of inferences about carbon sources incorporated into chironomid biomass.  相似文献

Neural networks are increasingly used in the field of hydrology due to their properties of parsimony and universal approximation with regard to nonlinear systems. Nevertheless, as a result of the existence of noise and approximations in hydrological data, which are very significant in some cases, such systems are particularly sensitive to increased model complexity. This dilemma is known in machine learning as bias–variance and can be avoided by suitable regularization methods. Following a presentation of the bias–variance dilemma along with regularization methods such as cross-validation, early stopping and weight decay, an application is provided for simulating and forecasting karst aquifer outflows at the Lez site. The efficiency of this regularization process is thus demonstrated on a nonlinear, partially unknown basin. As a last step, results are presented over the most intense rainfall event found in the database, which allows assessing the capability of neural networks to generalize with rare or extreme events.  相似文献

Results of new observations of the vicinity of DR 21 (OH) conducted on the 20-m Onsala radio telescope are presented. The goal was to search for associations between molecular hydrogen emission tracing shock waves and class I methanol maser emission. Observations at 44 and 36 GHz have shown that an extensive region of faint methanol maser emission elongated North-South is probably present in the vicinity of DR 21(OH). The linear size of this structure may be a factor of ten larger than the central region in DR 21(OH) that emits at 44 GHz. Three maser emission peaks are clearly visible in the northern (DR 21N), central (DR 21(OH)), and southern (vicinity of DR 21 West) parts of this structure. Many other structures are also embedded in this region, including the protostellar disk ERO 3 previously detected at 6.7 GHz. Maser components of these objects are formed with velocities from -5 to-2 km/s, with a velocity gradient from -5 in the North to -2 km/s in the South. The spatial resolution of the map is not high enough to distinguish fine structures at 44 GHz associated with spots and jets emitting in molecular hydrogen.  相似文献

The climatology of the moisture and heat budget equation terms for subareas within the South American Monsoon System (SAMS) region is investigated for the 1958–2014 period considering the distinct phases of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). These budget equations are applied to the data from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Reanalysis project. Sources or sinks of moisture and heat are equation residues, referred to as residue and diabatic terms, respectively. Analyses are done for the Central Amazon Basin (CAM) and Western-Central Brazil (WCB) for three distinct periods, 1958–1976, 1977–1995, and 1996–2014, that correspond to the cold, warm, and undefined PDO phases. The differences among the PDO phases for each term are discussed. The CAM region acts dominantly as a moisture sink and heat source in all months during the three phases. On the other hand, in the WCB region, the monsoon characteristics are better defined, with a moisture sink (source) and a heat source (sink) during the wet (dry) season. The main result of the present analysis is the persistence of SAMS intensification signs in both CAM and WCB areas up to the last analyzed period (1996–2014), which is consistent with intense flooding in the Amazon Basin in 2008/2009, 2012, and 2014.  相似文献
