High pressure and temperature reactions of a mixture of forsterite and hydrogen molecules have been carried out using a laser
heated diamond anvil cell at 9.8–13.2 GPa and ~1,000 K. In situ X-ray diffraction measurements showed no sign of decomposition
or phase transitions of the forsterite under these experimental conditions, indicating that the olivine structure was maintained
throughout all runs. However, a substantial expansion of the unit cell volume of the forsterite was observed for samples down
to ~3 GPa upon quenching to ambient pressure at room temperature. The Raman spectroscopy measurements under pressure showed
significant shifts of the Raman peaks of the Si–O vibration modes for forsterite and of the intramolecular vibration mode
for H2 molecules toward a lower frequency after heating. Additionally, no OH vibration modes were observed by Raman and FT-IR spectroscopic
measurements. These lines of evidence show that the observed volume expansion in forsterite is not explained by the incorporation
of hydrogen atoms as hydroxyl, but suggest the presence of hydrogen as molecules in the forsterite structure under these high

Differences in ecosystem dynamics between the northern and southern parts of the Japan Sea have been investigated with two nitrogen based ecosystem models forced by climatological mixed layer depth and euphotic layer depth. Models having 4 and 9 compartments with the same biochemical parameters were applied to the northern and southern parts. The spring bloom in the southern part is earlier and smaller than that in the northern part according to both models, which is supported by satellite ocean color images. The difference of the timing is related to the variation of mixed layer depth, and the magnitude of blooming is also related to the concentrations of surface nutrient and herbivorous zooplankton in early spring. The simulated seasonal variations of ecosystem characteristics (standing stock of each compartment, primary production and the ratio of export flux of organic particles to the primary production) are not significantly different between two models. The ratio of export flux of organic particles to the primary production are about 36% and 23% in the northern and southern parts according to the 4-compartment model, while the values are 31% and 18% by 9-compartment model. These results suggest that the biological pump in the northern part is more active than that in the southern part of the Japan Sea. Sensitivity analyses have been carried out to examine the differences of the response to the models. 相似文献

Summary. The Earth is believed to possess a free nutational mode due to its rotating, elliptical, fluid core, with an eigenfrequency of approximately (1 + 1/460) cycle sidereal day−1 as seen from the sidereally rotating Earth. This free 'core nutation' has not yet been undisputably observed. Furthermore, there has been considerable doubt that any known mechanism could excite this mode to an observable level. We show here that diurnal atmospheric and oceanic loading of the Earth's surface provide an efficient excitation mechanism which depends critically on the physical damping of the mode. Possible effects of the mode on geodetic measurements are discussed. We also consider the effects of 'wobble' and 'nutation' on astrometric observations. 相似文献

The thermoelastic parameters of synthetic Ca3Al2Si3O12 grossular garnet were examined in situ at high-pressure and high-temperature by energy dispersive X-ray diffraction, using
a Kawai-type multi-anvil press apparatus coupled with synchrotron radiation. Measurements have been conducted at pressures
up to 20 GPa and temperatures up to 1,650 K: this P, T range covered the entire high-P, T stability field of grossular garnet. The analysis of room temperature data yielded V

A numerical study on the formation and variation of a clockwise-circulation during winter in the Yellow Sea 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In the Yellow Sea, the north-westerly wind dominates in winter and the existence of horizontal clockwise circulation has been suggested (Yanagi and Takahashi, 1993). The formation and variation mechanisms of this clockwise circulation is investigated using the wind forced numerical model which has a simplified basin configuration of the Yellow Sea. The model results show that two vortices (an anticlockwise vortex off Chinese coast and a clockwise vortex off Korean coast) are generated by the uniform north-westerly wind. Both vortices propagate along the shelf slope as the first mode shelf waves. An anti-clockwise vortex can not grow because it does not balance to the wind forcing. On the other hand, a clockwise vortex can grow and it reaches to the equilibrium condition at the northern part of the Yellow Sea, because this circulation can balance to the wind forcing. The time scale to become into the equilibrium condition is about 2 days. From this fact, it is ascertained that a clockwise circulation in the basin is generated periodically according to the variable wind forcing with 4 days period. The steady part of the current field exists with the fluctuating one which is induced by the periodical north-westerly wind. 相似文献

The electrical conductivity and polarization properties of calcite single crystals with three orientations, namely, a (00.1) plane perpendicular to the crystallographic c axis (10.0) plane parallel to the crystallographic c axis, and a (10.4) cleavage plane, were studied by both complex impedance and thermally stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) measurements. Conductivities for (00.1)-, (10.0)-, and (10.4)-oriented single calcite crystals at 400–600?°C were 1.16?×?10?7?–?1.05?×?10?5, 7.40?×?10?8?–?4.27?×?10?6, and 4.27?×?10?7?–?2.86?×?10?5 Ω?1 m?1, respectively, and the activation energies for conduction were 112, 103, and 101?kJ?mol?1, respectively. The TSDC spectra verified the electrical polarizability of calcite crystals. The activation energy for depolarization, estimated from TSDC spectra, of the (00.1)-, (10.0)-, and (10.4)-oriented calcite substrates were 112, 119, and 114?kJ?mol?1, respectively. Considering the correlation between the processes of conduction and electric polarization, we proposed the mechanisms of conduction and polarization in calcite on the assumption of oxide ion transport. 相似文献

Although plankton bloom incidents in the upper Gulf of Thailand (UGoT) have been reported, no dynamic investigation of the
phenomenon has been conducted. To address this need, a simple pelagic ecosystem model coupled with the Princeton Ocean Model
(POM) was employed to investigate seasonal variations in surface chlorophyll-a (chl-a) distributions to clarify phytoplankton
dynamics in this area. The results revealed patterns of seasonal chl-a distribution that correspond to local wind, water movement
and river discharge. High chl-a patchiness was found to be concentrated near the western coast following westward circulation
near the northern coast developed during the northeast monsoon. During the southwest monsoon high concentrations were observed
around the northeastern coast due to eastward flow. The simulated results could explain the seasonal shifting of phytoplankton
blooms, which typically arise along the western and eastern coasts during the northeast and the southwest monsoons, respectively.
Sensitivity analyses of simulated chl-a distributions demonstrate that water stability, including wind-induced vertical currents
and mixing, plays significant roles in controlling phytoplankton growth. Nutrients in the water column will not stimulate
strong plankton blooms unless upwelling develops or vertical diffusivity is low. This finding suggests an alternative aspect
of the mechanism of phytoplankton bloom in this region. 相似文献

Thermal equation of state of an Al-rich phase with Na1.13Mg1.51Al4.47Si1.62O12 composition has been derived from in situ X-ray diffraction experiments using synchrotron radiation and a multianvil apparatus at pressures up to 24 GPa and temperatures up to 1,900 K. The Al-rich phase exhibited a hexagonal symmetry throughout the present pressure–temperature conditions and the refined unit-cell parameters at ambient condition were: a=8.729(1) Å, c=2.7695(5) Å, V 0=182.77(6) Å3 (Z=1; formula weight=420.78 g/mol), yielding the zero-pressure density ρ0=3.823(1) g/cm3 . A least-square fitting of the pressure-volume-temperature data based on Anderson’s pressure scale of gold (Anderson et al. in J Appl Phys 65:1534–543, 1989) to high-temperature Birch-Murnaghan equation of state yielded the isothermal bulk modulus K 0=176(2) GPa, its pressure derivative K 0 ′ =4.9(3), temperature derivative (?K T /?T) P =?0.030(3) GPa K?1 and thermal expansivity α(T)=3.36(6)×10?5+7.2(1.9)×10?9 T, while those values of K 0=181.7(4) GPa, (?K T /?T) P =?0.020(2) GPa K?1 and α(T)=3.28(7)×10?5+3.0(9)×10?9 T were obtained when K 0 ′ was assumed to be 4.0. The estimated bulk density of subducting MORB becomes denser with increasing depth as compared with earlier estimates (Ono et al. in Phys Chem Miner 29:527–531 2002; Vanpeteghem et al. in Phys Earth Planet Inter 138:223–230 2003; Guignot and Andrault in Phys Earth Planet Inter 143–44:107–128 2004), although the difference is insignificant (<0.6%) when the proportions of the hexagonal phase in the MORB compositions (~20%) are taken into account. 相似文献
