The chemical and isotopic compositions (δDH2O, δ18OH2O, δ18OCO2, δ13CCO2, δ34S, and He/N2 and He/Ar ratios) of fumarolic gases from Nisyros, Greece, indicate that both arc-type magmatic water and local seawater feed the hydrothermal system. Isotopic composition of the deep fluid is estimated to be +4.9±0.5‰ for δ18O and ?11±5‰ for δD corresponding to a magmatic water fraction of 0.7. Interpretation of the stable water isotopes was based on liquid–vapor separation conditions obtained through gas geothermometry. The H2–Ar, H2–N2, and H2–H2O geothermometers suggest reservoir temperatures of 345±15 °C, in agreement with temperatures measured in deep geothermal wells, whereas a vapor/liquid separation temperature of 260±30 °C is indicated by gas equilibria in the H2O–H2–CO2–CO–CH4 system. The largest magmatic inputs seem to occur below the Stephanos–Polybotes Micros crater, whereas the marginal fumarolic areas of Phlegeton–Polybotes Megalos craters receive a smaller contribution of magmatic gases.  相似文献

To examine algae populations, three expeditions (in March 2001, April 2002 and February 2003) were conducted in the Guba Chupa (Chupa Estuary; north-western White Sea), and one cruise was carried out in the open part of the White Sea in April 2003 and in the northern part of the Barents Sea in July 2001. Sea ice algae and phytoplankton composition and abundance and the content of sediment traps under the land-fast ice in the White Sea and annual and multi-year pack ice in the Barents Sea were investigated. The community in land-fast sea ice was dominated by pennate diatoms and its composition was more closely related to that of the underlying sediments than was the community of the pack ice, which was dominated by flagellates, dinoflagellates and centric diatoms. Algae were far more abundant in land-fast ice: motile benthic and ice-benthic species found favourable conditions in the ice. The pack ice community was more closely related to that of the surrounding water. It originated from plankton incorporation during sea ice formation and during seawater flood events. An additional source for ice colonization may be multi-year ice. Algae may be released from the ice during brine drainage or sea ice melting. Many sea ice algae developed spores before the ice melt. These algae were observed in the above-bottom sediment traps all year around. Three possible fates of ice algae can be distinguished: 1) suspension in the water column, 2) sinking to the bottom and 3) ingestion by herbivores in the ice, at the ice-water interface or in the water column.  相似文献

The influence of the higher modes and their consideration in the pushover analysis of reinforced concrete single column bent viaducts with different degree of irregularity is discussed. Typical multimode pushover‐based methods (modal pushover analysis, modal adaptive non‐linear static procedure and incremental response spectrum analysis) are addressed and compared with a single mode procedure (N2) and inelastic time history analysis. If in the transverse direction the substructure of the viaduct is flexible in comparison with the superstructure, the influence of higher modes is small (the structure is regular) and single mode procedure works well. This typically occurs when the columns are high or considerably damaged. Conversely, for the analysis of irregular structures having short and slightly damaged columns, the multimode methods are needed. In most cases, all the analysed multimode pushover‐based methods have given the results comparable with time history analysis, with the exception of cases where torsional sensitivity is varying during the response. Tree-ring oxygen stable isotope data series from conifers growing on the Dachstein Plateau (Austrian Alps) were selected to demonstrate the applicability of the serial pooling method using shifted 5-year tree-ring blocks for summer temperature reconstruction. The addressed method allows the construction of long isotope chronologies with significant climate correlation and well preserved climate sensitivity applying the irreducible sample replication of five trees. The linear regression model for temperature reconstruction is verifiable and the predicted data are well correlated with instrumental data, especially reproducing the long-term temperature trend. However, the reduced mean variance leads to loss of extreme years, which can be regulated by the combination of one data series in annual resolution with five shifted 5-year block data series. This significantly improves the variance of the mean chronology, sufficiently to identify extremes. Therefore, we recommend the use of mixed data sets as a compromise between essential sample replication and economic considerations.  相似文献

The mineral water deposits in Kiseljak are located in the central Dinarids, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the southwestern edge of Sarajevo–Zenica basin that was formed in the zone of Busova?a fault. Busova?a fault reaches deep into the Earth’s crust and is characterised by the presence of mineral and thermomineral water enriched with CO2 and CO2 springs (mofetes) in the direction of Ilid?a–Kiseljak–Busova?a. Deposits are constructed of layers of Palaeozoic to Cretaceous age. Primary aquifer of mineral waters is Permian clastites and evaporites and secondary Anisian carbonates. Mineral water and CO2 are of different origin. The water is of atmospheric origin. Due to slow circulation, water descends in the primary aquifer where it becomes enriched with CO2 and minerals. Due to high pressure in the primary aquifer mineral water ascends along Busova?a fault, mounts into the secondary aquifer and rises at spring sources. Water is a mixture of two or more waters of different mineralization. Mixing of water occurs in the zone of secondary aquifer even at greater depths without the influence of contemporary climatic factors. Intensive water mixing is indicated by the high ratio of Ca/Sr, Na/Cl and Ca/SO4 and the mixing diagram. CO2 is thermometamorphic, arising from the catalytic activity of SiO2 on carbonates in the deeper layers of the Earth’s crust, where quartz porphyry broke through Palaeozoic formations.  相似文献

The cyclic behaviour of slender cantilever columns in full-scale models of precast industrial buildings, designed by Eurocode 8, was studied experimentally and analytically. The shear span ratio of the columns was 12.5, which is more than allowed by Eurocode 8 for columns in frame structures (10). High deformability and a large deformation capacity (8%~drift) of the columns was observed. A lumped plasticity model was used in the analysis. In the paper the observed behaviour of the models has been compared with the predicted behaviour obtained by several empirically based models and procedures. It was observed that these models, which were developed for much lower shear span ratios (2–6), were not applicable for the analyzed very slender columns without appropriate additional considerations and modifications. In the case of such columns the yield drift is dominated by the flexural mode (it is practically proportional to the height of the column) and the ultimate drift under cyclic loading conditions is only slightly dependent on the shear span (indicating that the ratio of the equivalent length of the plastic hinge to the height of the column decreases with the increasing shear span). An appropriately modified lumped plasticity model incorporating in-cycle and repeated-cycle strength deterioration was chosen for future use in performance-based design and seismic risk studies.  相似文献

Isotopic-geochemical investigations were carried out on peat samples from the 1908 Tunguska Cosmic Body (TCB) explosion area. We analyzed two peat columns from the Northern peat bog, sampled in 1998, and from the Raketka peat bog, sampled during the 1999 Italian expedition, both located near the epicenter of the TCB explosion area. At the depth of the “catastrophic” layer, formed in 1908, and deeper, one can observe shifts in the isotopic composition of nitrogen (up to Δ15N = +7.2‰) and carbon (up to Δ13C = +2‰) and also an increase in the nitrogen concentration compared to those in the normal, upper layers, unaffected by the Tunguska event. One possible explanation for these effects could be the presence of nitrogen and carbon from TCB material and from acid rains, following the TCB explosion, in the “catastrophic” and “precatastrophic” layers of peat. We found that the highest quantity of isotopically heavy nitrogen fell near the explosion epicenter and along the TCB trajectory. It is calculated that 200,000 tons of nitrogen fell over the area of devastated forest, i.e., only about 30% of the value calculated by Rasmussen et al. (1984). This discrepancy is probably caused by part of the nitrogen having dispersed in the Earth’s atmosphere. The isotopic effects observed in the peat agree with the results of previous investigations [Kolesnikov et al 1998a], [Kolesnikov et al 1998b], [Kolesnikov et al 1999] and [Rasmussen et al 1999] and also with the increased content of iridium and other platinoids found in the corresponding peat layers of other columns [Hou et al 1998] and [Hou et al 2000]. These data favor the hypothesis of a cosmochemical origin of the isotopic effects.  相似文献

We present new geochemical analyses of minerals and whole rocks for a suite of mafic rocks from the crustal section of the Othris Ophiolite in central Greece. The mafic rocks form three chemically distinct groups. Group 1 is characterized by N-MORB-type basalt and basaltic andesite with Na- and Ti-rich clinopyroxenes. These rocks show mild LREE depletion and no HFSE anomalies, consistent with moderate degrees (~15%) of anhydrous partial melting of depleted mantle followed by 30–50% crystal fractionation. Group 2 is represented by E-MORB-type basalt with clinopyroxenes with higher Ti contents than Group 1 basalts. Group 2 basalts also have higher concentrations of incompatible trace elements with slightly lower HREE contents than Group 1 basalts. These chemical features can be explained by ~10% partial melting of an enriched mantle source. Group 3 includes high MgO cumulates with Na- and Ti-poor clinopyroxene, forsteritic olivine, and Cr-rich spinel. The cumulates show strong depletion of HFSE, low HREE contents, and LREE enrichments. These rocks may have formed by olivine accumulation from boninitic magmas. The petrogenesis of the N-MORB-type basalts and basaltic andesites is in excellent agreement with the melting conditions inferred from the MOR-type peridotites in Othris. The occurrence of both N- and E-MORB-type lavas suggests that the mantle generating the lavas of the Othris Ophiolite must have been heterogeneous on a comparatively fine scale. Furthermore, the inferred parental magmas of the SSZ-type cumulates are broadly complementary to the SSZ-type peridotites found in Othris. These results suggest that the crustal section may be genetically related to the mantle section. In the Othris Ophiolite mafic rocks recording magmatic processes characteristic both of mid-ocean ridges and subduction zones occur within close spatial association. These observations are consistent with the formation of the Othris Ophiolite in the upper plate of a newly created intra-oceanic subduction zone.
