The water solubility in haplogranitic melts (normative composition Ab39Or32Qz29) coexisting with H2O-H2 fluids at 800 and 950 °C and 1, 2 and 3 kbar vapour pressure has been determined using IR spectroscopy. The experiments were
performed in internally heated pressure vessels and the hydrogen fugacity (fH2) was controlled using the double capsule technique and oxygen buffer assemblages (WM and IW). Due to the limited lifetimes
of these oxygen buffers the water solubility was determined from diffusion profiles (concentration-distance profiles) measured
with IR spectroscopy in the quenched glasses. The reliability of the experimental strategy was demonstrated by comparing the
results of short- and long-duration experiments performed with pure H2O fluids. The water solubility in Ab39Or32Qz29 melts equilibrated with H2O-H2 fluids decreases progressively with decreasing fH2O, as fH2 (or XH2) increases in the fluid phase. The effect of H2 on the evolution of the water solubility is similar to that of CO2 or another volatile with a low solubility in the melt and can be calculated in a first approximation with the Burnham water
solubility model. Recalculation of high temperature water speciation for AOQ melts coexisting with H2O-H2 fluids at 800 °C, 2 kbar suggests that the concentrations of molecular H2O are proportional to fH2O (calculated using available mixing models), indicating Henrian behaviour for the solubility of molecular H2O in haplogranitic melts.

The deposits of three eruptions in the last 5000 years are described in detail in order to constrain eruptive parameters and allow a quantitative assessment of the hazard from a range of explosive eruption types at Sete Cidades volcano, São Miguel, Azores. These deposits include: the Caldeira Seca eruption (P17) which occurred around 600 yr BP, which was the last explosive event from inside the Sete Cidades caldera, the P11 eruption, dated at 2220 ± 70 yr BP, and the undated P8 eruption (< 3000 yr BP). These deposits were chosen to represent the range of likely explosive activity from the caldera. 相似文献
This work describes the development of the Angolan earthquake catalog and seismicity distribution in the Southwestern African Plate, in Angola. This region is one of the least seismically active, even for stable continental regions (SCRs) in the world. The maximum known earthquake had a magnitude of 6.0 Ms, while events with magnitudes of 4.5 have return period of about 10 years. Events with magnitude 5 and above occur with return period of about 20 years. Five seismic zones can be confirmed in Angola, within and along craton edges and in the sedimentary basins including offshore. Overall, the exposed cratonic regions tend to have more earthquakes compared to other regions such as sedimentary basins. Earthquakes tend to occur in Archaic rocks, especially inside preexisting weakness zones and in tectonic-magmatic reactivation zones of Mesozoic and Meso-Cenozoic, associated with the installation of a wide variety of intrusive rocks, strongly marked by intense tectonism. This fact can be explained by the models of preexisting weakness zones and stress concentration near intersecting structures. The Angolan passive margin is also a new region where seismic activity occurs. Although clear differences are found between different areas along the passive margin, in the middle near Porto Amboim city, seismic activity is more frequent compared with northwestern and southwestern regions. 相似文献
Un site aquifère contaminé, situé en bordure de l’oued Meboudja (Annaba, Algérie), a été caractérisé en mettant en place une surveillance de la qualité des eaux de surface et souterraines affectées par les nombreux rejets industriels et urbains sur une période de 11 ans (1999?2009). Les déchets industriels sont déposés directement sur le sol et les effluents sont déversés dans l’oued Meboudja sans aucun traitement préalable. Les eaux souterraines présentent une conductivité électrique élevée (de 1000 à 6000 μS/cm), de fortes teneurs en chlorure et en sodium avec respectivement un maximum de 1400 et 730 mg/L. Partant des résultats de l’analyse en composantes principales effectuée sur 33 puits en juillet 2009, les trois principaux processus responsables de l’évolution chimique observée au niveau de l’aquifère ont été identifiés: (a) l’apport salifère du lac Fetzara et le lessivage des formations métamorphiques carbonatées (responsables de l’augmentation de la minéralisation) ; (b) l’alimentation de la nappe par les eaux de l’oued Meboudja, recevant de nombreux polluants industriels (responsable des fortes teneurs en fer et en manganèse) ; et (c) l’utilisation des produits chimiques dans l’agriculture (responsable de l’augmentation des teneurs en nitrates). Les fortes minéralisations sont enregistrées notamment dans les puits situés à proximité des rejets industriels. En outre, de fortes concentrations métalliques en fer et en manganèse sont observées dans les eaux de l’oued. L’évolution de ces deux éléments dans les eaux de la nappe au cours d’un cycle hydrologique montre que l’augmentation des teneurs est liée notamment à une réalimentation de la nappe par l’oued et à une mauvaise oxygénation de la nappe. L’existence de niveaux argileux peut en effet jouer le rôle d’écran en surface et favoriser les conditions réductrices dans la nappe. La Meboudja agit par conséquent comme une source diffuse de contaminants tout au long de son parcours. Les caractéristiques hydrodynamiques de l’aquifère ont été estimées à l’aide de l’interprétation des données des pompages d’essai effectués dans plus d’une dizaine de puits. Des modèles d’écoulement et de transport de polluants ont été élaborés en utilisant le code MODFLOW-MT3D. L’ampleur de la migration des contaminants a été évaluée pendant une période de 11 ans (1999?2009). L’interaction oued-nappe est considérée comme responsable de la migration des contaminants dans la plaine de la Meboudja.

This paper proposes a new approach to the mining exploration drillholes positioning problem (DPP) that incorporates both geostatistical and optimization techniques. A metaheuristic was developed to solve the DPP taking into account an uncertainty index that quantifies the reliability of the current interpretation of the mineral deposit. The uncertainty index was calculated from multiple deposit realizations obtained by truncated Gaussian simulations conditional to the available drillholes samplings. A linear programming model was defined to select the subset of future drillholes that maximizes coverage of the uncertainty. A Tabu Search algorithm was developed to solve large instances of this set partitioning problem. The proposed Tabu Search algorithm is shown to provide good quality solutions approaching 95% of the optimal solution in a reasonable computing time, allowing close to optimal coverage of uncertainty for a fixed investment in drilling.
Bifurcaria bifurcata is a seaweed of the Order Fucales(Ochrophyta, Phaeophyceae) that can be found all year round along the Portuguese Atlantic shore. Although it is considered edible in some countries,its biotechnological potential has not yet been assessed in detail and here we report its antimicrobial potential against human dermatophyte fungi. Three samples were harvested from Baleal Island(Peniche, Portugal)harvested in winter(BbPe); from Aguda Beach(Arcozelo, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal), harvested in autumn(BbAg) and a sample obtained by culturing the Aguda sample under laboratory conditions(BbLC).A broth macrodilution assay was applied to determine the MIC(minimum inhibitory concentration) and MLC(minimum lethal concentration) of the B. bifurcata extracts. Results show that the BbPe MeOH extracts were the most effective and had higher antifungal activity against all the tested dermatophyte strains than the BbLC and BaAg extracts [Epidermophyton floccosum FF9(100-200 μg/mL MIC; 200 μg/mL MLC), Microsporum canis FF1(400 μg/mL MIC; 400 μg/mL MLC), Trichophyton mentagrophytes FF7(100 μg/mL MIC; 800 μg/mL MLC), M. gypseum CECT 2908(800 μg/mL MIC; 800 μg/mL MLC), T.mentagrophytes var. interdigitale CECT 2958(800 μg/mL MIC; 800 μg/mL MLC), T. rubrum CECT 2794(200 μg/mL MIC; 400 μg/mL MLC)]. In fact, only E. floccosum FF9 was sensitive to BbAg and BbLC MeOH extracts. To our knowledge, this is the first report of antifungal activity of B. bifurcata against human dermatophyte fungi. 相似文献
The plasma of the solar wind incident upon the Earth’s magnetosphere can produce several types of geoeffective events. Among them, an important phenomenon consists of the interrelation of the magnetospheric–ionospheric current systems and the charged-particle population of the Earth’s Van Allen radiation belts. Ultra-low-frequency (ULF) waves resonantly interacting with such particles have been claimed to play a major role in the energetic particle flux changes, particularly at the outer radiation belt, which is mainly composed of electrons at relativistic energies. In this article, we use global magnetohydrodynamic simulations along with in situ and ground-based observations to evaluate the ability of two different solar wind transient (SWT) events to generate ULF (few to tens of mHz) waves in the equatorial region of the inner magnetosphere. Magnetic field and plasma data from the Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) satellite were used to characterize these two SWT events as being a sector boundary crossing (SBC) on 24 September 2013, and an interplanetary coronal mass ejection (ICME) in conjunction with a shock on 2 October 2013. Associated with these events, the twin Van Allen Probes measured a depletion of the outer belt relativistic electron flux concurrent with magnetic and electric field power spectra consistent with ULF waves. Two ground-based observatories apart in 90° longitude also showed evidence of ULF-wave activity for the two SWT events. Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation results show that the ULF-like oscillations in the modeled electric and magnetic fields observed during both events are a result from the SWT coupling to the magnetosphere. The analysis of the MHD simulation results together with the observations leads to the conclusion that the two SWT structures analyzed in this article can be geoeffective on different levels, with each one leading to distinct ring current intensities, but both SWTs are related to the same disturbance in the outer radiation belt, i.e. a dropout in the relativistic electron fluxes. Therefore, minor disturbances in the solar wind parameters, such as those related to an SBC, may initiate physical processes that are able to be geoeffective for the outer radiation belt. 相似文献
From 1999 to 2005, studies carried out in the frame of regional and national French programs aimed to determine whether the Phaeocystisglobosa bloom affected the intertidal benthic communities of the French coast of the eastern English Channel in terms of composition and/or functioning. Study sites were chosen to cover most of the typical shore types encountered on this coast (a rocky shore, an exposed sandy beach and a small estuary). Both the presence of active Phaeocystis cells and their degradation product (foam) did have a significant impact on the studied shores. The primary production and growth rates of the kelp Saccharina latissima decreased during the bloom because of a shortage of light and nutrient for the macroalgae. On sandy sediments, the benthic metabolism (community respiration and community primary production), as well as the nitrification rate, were enhanced during foam deposits, in relation with the presence of bacteria and active pelagic cells within the decaying colonies. In estuarine sediments, the most impressive impact was the formation of a crust at the sediment surface due to drying foam. This led to anoxic conditions in the surface sediment and resulted in a high mortality among the benthic community. Some organisms also tended to migrate upward and were then directly accessible to the higher trophic level represented by birds. Phaeocystis then created a shortcut in the estuarine trophic network. Most of these modifications lasted shortly and all the systems considered came back to their regular properties and activities a few weeks after the end of the bloom, except for the most impacted estuarine area. 相似文献
